There are several huge news items from Sunday’s epic “Bound For Glory” Pay-Per-View event! If you missed the epic, you can still catch the replay all week long on iNDEMAND, DirecTV, Dish Network, TVN and other PPV providers!

As promised on TNAwrestling.com, Samoa Joe was waiting outside the Compuware Arena for the arrival of Kurt Angle. The site of Joe sitting outside the arena on a chair was chilling, as the look on his face told it all – a personal decimation of Kurt Angle was all he wanted at first site tonight!

PRESHOW:
BOBBY ROODE vs. LANCE HOYT
The second annual “Bound For Glory” got underway with Bobby Roode going one on one with Lance Hoyt. But before the match even started, Bobby reiterated that, “the moment has come.”

Bobby Roode said that times were changing in this day of age for “Robert Roode”. He doesn’t need people like Sherri Martel to look good, nor Bobby Heenan for the talking. What Bobby Roode needs is someone who will be looking after Robert Roode on all cylinders from booking main event matches, to the financial side of his career. So he then announced that the new CEO of “Robert Roode, Inc.” would be none other than the lovely Ms. Brooks.

With all that said, the match began with Lance Hoyt taking a beating from the newly acquired Robert Roode, on Ms. Brooks’ part. Hoyt would however gain the upper momentum later on when trying to capitalize with a moonsault, but thanks to Ms. Brookes, the distraction caused Hoyt to take a tumble and later feel to Northern Lariat. Right after that, it was the Payoff finisher written up by Bobby Roode for the win.

Winner: Bobby Roode

After the bout, Ron “The Truth” Killings came to Hoyt’s aid after chasing off Roode and Ms. Brooks from inflicting more damage. The Truth would then rally the Detroit fans in singing along with his “What’s Up” rap, while Lance Hoyt did the dancing!

TNA management director Jim Cornette was on scene outside trying to talk some sense into Samoa Joe. It was to no avail though; once Kurt Angle arrived he tried to charge straight for him and make the kill but thankfully security was very quick in preventing any brawl from occurring. Though, the hold up didn’t stop the two wrestling stars from picking some few choice words to throw at each other.

THE KEVIN NASH OPEN INVITATIONAL X-DIVISION GAUNTLET BATTLE ROYAL
The Kevin Nash Open Invitational X-Division Gauntlet Battle Royal continued “Bound For Glory” and it kicked off with Austin Starr and Sonjay Dutt displaying the true art form that is the X-Division! Ringside at the commentary booth for this contest was Kevin Nash himself, and in hand was the trophy he was going to present to the winner of his Battle Royal he put forth today.

Maverick Matt was the next entrant as he teamed with the charismatic Austin Starr in trying to take out Sonjay Dutt. However, his partner in crime Jay Lethal was next in making it fair play.

The next entrant in the match though was a rather different opponent than the norm for any X-Division match and that was A1. Again, it’s not about weight limits, it’s no limits! A1 sure demonstrated this by taking control.

From there, we moved along with the return of Zach Gowen to TNA! Though, the first elimination would come upon the entrance of Frankie Kazarian when he and his partner Matt Bentley took Sonjay Dutt up and threw him over the ropes to the floor.

Keeping with the uniqueness and no limits moniker this Battle Royal has already earned, we saw the arrival of Sirelda – a female competitor! While hanging in there for a brief time, A1 would take advantage with a massive clothesline to the outside. The celebration would prove to be his demise though when Maverick Matt and Kazarian came swinging with a clothesline of their own, causing A1 to tumble onto the outside.

“It’s over,” said Kevin Nash as his boy Alex Shelley was next out. The next man eliminated though was Maverick Matt when D-Ray 3000 and Shark Boy teamed up in such an act. The return of D-Ray 3000 definitely proved that Kevin Nash was studying some old TNA footage in trying to fill in the spots for this Battle Royal.

Elix Skipper would soon enter after Johnny Devine, second half of The Paparazzi, entered the six-sided ring. Austin Starr was still hanging in there as he eliminated Frankie Kazarian. Quickly thereafter, Shark Boy and D-Ray 3000 were gone too as Short Sleeve Sampson then came in. Austin Starr began toying with Sampson but once Norman Smiley entered, he had his way with Austin when he hit the Big Wiggle coincided with Sampson who had a wiggle of his own on Johnny Devine. Funny enough, Mark “Slick” Johnson then entered the match as a competitor but he was quickly made an example with when Petey Williams eliminated him upon delivering the Canadian Destroyer on Jay Lethal. This had all come after Alex Shelley, much to Kevin Nash’s approval, eliminated Short Sleeve Sampson.

After suffering the Canadian Destroyer, Jay Lethal survived thanks to Shelley and Devine who decided to throw Petey Williams out. The Paparazzi however would find themselves too on the floor of eliminated wrestlers club, as Austin Starr would prove to be the next big thing in the X-Division when he hit the brain buster on Jay Lethal for the win.

After the Gauntlet Battle Royal, Kevin Nash came in to applaud Austin Starr on his impressive win. The trophy was presented while Alex Shelley stood in the corner of the ring with obvious jealousy written all over his face. Nonetheless, Alex Shelley went along with it, and everyone seemed to be happy.

FOUR CORNERS TAG TEAM MATCH:
TEAM 3D vs. AMERICA’S MOST WANTED vs. THE NATURALS vs. THE JAMES GANG
Next up was the Four Corners Tag Team Match for an imminent shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles. First entering the ring with an introduction from “The Franchise” Shane Douglas were The Naturals. They were faced against three other teams in The James Gang, America’s Most Wanted, and Team 3D!

The fans of Detroit were rocking the Compuware Arena for this one as Chase Stevens of The Naturals started the opening minutes against James Storm. Team 3D’s Brother Ray and BG James would later show some chemistry in comedic fashion, but after the laughs and gags were ridden with, it was back to business when the two traded fists.

Action would break loose all over the building, but much to their credit, Team 3D stayed in the ring with The Naturals. We witnessed a series of moves from Team 3D with a top shoulder clotheslines from the top rope and then a little “wazzup” from Brother Devon. After much talk leading up to “Bound For Glory”, Team 3D would make good of their word by hitting a 3D on The Naturals for the win while The James Gang and AMW were still busy brawling all over the arena!

Winners: Team 3D

After the chaotic match, the once subdued Shane Douglas was now once again livid. He just saw his team of The Naturals once again fall from a chance at winning the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Chase Stevens tried standing up to “The Franchise”, but it became apparent that Shane wasn’t going to take any of it when he slapped Chase across the face. Andy who was lying on the ring canvas was speechless, a look of dismay colored his face. Team 3D have earned their shot respectively, but what does the future hold for The Naturals?

MONSTER’S BALL:
“THE MONSTER” ABYSS vs. BROTHER RUNT vs. RAVEN vs. “THE SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE” SAMOA JOE
Jake “The Snake” Roberts was assigned to be the special guest referee for this signature match for disaster in TNA. Samoa Joe who was still looking for Kurt Angle, came in to make quick work of his opponents. "The Monster" Abyss would too make quick work by sending Brother Runt for a ride into the fans as they surfed him back to the ringside area. Samoa Joe would soon after go airborne by putting Abyss, Raven, and Runt to the floor with a flip dive to the outside – and he landed on his feet!

The fans were at awe as they chanted "TNA," while Brother Runt was thrown from the top of the scaffold entrance to the bottom of the stage. Abyss would then follow suite with more pain by landing his body across Runt’s with a splash from the top of the scaffold. Jake Roberts was definitely impressed with the level of barbarism in this match!

Back in the ring, “The Monster” Abyss almost earned the win over Raven with another monstrous splash but Samoa Joe returned with a vengeance. The official closure to the match would soon near when Abyss brought out a bag of thumbtacks. James Mitchell gave the signal for doomsday on Raven, but Joe would turn the tables and send Raven out upon hitting a senton splash on Abyss sending him face first into the tacks. The road to victory would be in Samoa Joe’s court when he lifted Raven up for the Muscle Buster just after he was hit with Jake Roberts’ patented DDT!

Winner: Samoa Joe

The aftermath saw Jake Roberts release his snake onto the maniacle Raven. He was queasy when he first realized the snake was wrapped around him, but was quick to bail from the scene.

Confidence was the advice Jeremy Borash gave Eric Young for his upcoming match. It was just confidence that Eric Young needed going into his “Loser Get’s Fired” match with Larry Zbyszko – but without it, it’s a lost hope for supremacy.

LOSER GET’S FIRED MATCH:
ERIC YOUNG vs. LARRY ZBYSZKO
“Don’t Fire Eric!” was the chant we heard from the thousands of TNA fans in attendance! Eric Young would then direct the fans to change their chants to “Fire Larry”! Finally after deserved fun with the fans, Eric would lock arms with the “Living Legend” Larry Zbyszko – a man who has abused his power in TNA for too long. It was no surprise though when Larry Z tried to abuse the rules of the match by bringing in a foreign object. Eric Young kept with his confidence state of mind when he managed to get a hold of that foreign object and knock Larry out to collect the win, thus hearing the announcement of Larry Zbyszko’s firing from TNA!

Winner: Eric Young

Even though he was sick, TNA management director Jim Cornette made it his duty to attend tonight’s “Bound For Glory” spectacle! He said that he was going to ensure that Samoa Joe does not get involved in tonight’s main event. That quickly gave Kurt Angle the cue to enter the ring.

After an insurmountable applause Angle received from the fans, he made it known that if Joe wanted to fight then he had that right. What did that lead to? It instigated Samoa Joe down to the ring as the two mega wrestling machines then brawled for a brief moment before security got involved, and this time we had extra security hired for the scene!

It was brawl that grasped both men emotionally, to where Joe was left without a fight physically, but only one verbally with Cornette. He yelled repeatedly, “Let me fight!” Ffter much trouble Cornette had to go through already with both of these men, he made the hefty decision of ejecting Samoa Joe out of the building since he was no longer needed for the evening.

TNA X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
SENSHI (c) vs. CHRIS SABIN
The hometown crowd was definitely an advantage for Chris Sabin, but was his head in the game this time around? Last month at the “No Surrender” Pay-Per-View, it was evident that Sabin was not ready mentally, and that caused him to lose to the martial arts gifted Senshi. Tonight, Senshi was more ready than he has ever been for a fight, so for Sabin to win it would have had to been a miraculous performance.

That’s exactly what both men did in the early going though; they showcased poetry in motion within the six-sided ring. Slowing down the match, Senshi locked Sabin in squeeze with both his legs wrapped around his mid area. Chops and kicks were then traded between both competitors and they kept in mind that they were fighting for the TNA X-Division Title – a title that has in many people’s minds gained equal strength next to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

Chris Sabin was now showing why he is a two-time X-Division Title holder when he suspended himself in midair for the drop kick on an upside-down Senshi in the corner. Sabin would come within an inch of winning the championship after a swinging DDT following a series of moves as Senshi instinctively kicked out.

What did Chris Sabin have to do to win though? He literally sent Senshi’s tooth flying with a flying boot in the corner, and even delivered his Cradle Shock finisher; however, Senshi still kicked out and fired back!

Chris Sabin was resilient too though! He would kick out of the Warrior’s Way and soon after roll Senshi up for a quick pin and win his third X-Division Championship at last!

His mentor, Jerry Lynn, and friends, Sonjay Dutt and Jay Lethal congratulated the newly crowned X-Division Champion, Chris Sabin for a post match celebration!

DETROIT “8 MILE” STREET FIGHT:
CHRISTIAN CAGE vs. “THE WAR MACHINE” RHINO
This was dubbed appropriately a street fight because “The War Machine” Rhino and Christian Cage started this fight out on the streets outside the Compuware Arena!

Rhino took the fight to an all new vicious level that Cage was having trouble adapting to in the early going. He even planted Cage on top of a zamboni and drove him back to the open area in the arena where Christain Cage would find a little offense.

The two competitors would finally enter the ring, but it wasn’t for a technical wrestling match, as you would expect. Rhino filled the ring with chairs and street lamps in keeping up with the barbaric nature he has been inflicting over Cage.

First blood was spilled when Cage slammed Rhino across the head with an 8 Mile street sign. From there, Rhino was dropped in the Unprettier but in his hometown he wasn’t going to give up! Neither was Cage though, because Rhino put Cage through insurmountable pain when he put him through a table on the outside with a Rhino Driver!

Back inside the ring, Rhino would miss a Gore that saw him crash through a table, but Detroit fans still had faith when Rhino kicked out of an attempted pin. After that though, Rhino would have to kick out of another Unprettier overtop of a broken table.

The Canadian rage within Christian Cage was in full gear now, he couldn’t believe that Rhino was still alive. So what he did was take every visible foreign object and put them over the prone body of Rhino lying in the middle of the ring. Then, he took a steel chair and delivered slam after slam over Rhino until he was completely motionless. Cage then made the cover and won the match in the most barbaric way you could do it.

Winner: Christian Cage

SIX SIDES OF STEEL:
NWA WORLD TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
AJ STYLES & CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (c) vs. THE LATIN AMERICAN EXCHANGE (HOMICIDE & HERNANDEZ) w/ KONNAN
We were in for a bloody war for this one. Konnan had his LAX troops rallied up for the Six Sides of Steel as they were looking to get a hold of their second reign as NWA World Tag Team Champions. AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels were not going to play easy tonight though, they started the steel cage match by giving LAX a taste of the steel and by doing what they do best – fly!

AJ Styles and The Fallen Angel showed such great chemistry in being so fluent with each other against LAX. Konnan was looking on from the opposite end of the cage as his thugs tried to no avail in the early going.

Homicide delivered a tag to Hernandez as the tables finally began to turn. The powerhouse that Hernandez is was able to overpower Styles and Daniels down from their feet. Love them or hate them, you have to respect LAX for their dominating efforts in the ring. Both of these teams have their unique natural abilities in the ring, and with this being the final chapter in the book – we were only bound to see them pull out their top guns.

Channeling Abdullah The Butcher, Homicide began stabbing Christopher Daniels' forehead with a fork given to him by Konnan on the outside. Anyway they can do it, dirty or not, LAX are not afraid to fight. This was their "5150" colors coming out, and Homicide would go even further with the pain by pouring tequila in Daniels' face to make his open wounds face the burn of alcohol.

AJ Styles saw enough and backed his friend in regaining the fight Together they were now back in control, as Daniels would later find that fork and hand it over to Styles while he held Homicide. The camera shot gave us a real feel of the situation occurring in the ring as you could see AJ raking Homcide’s head upon spilling blood. It was a sadistic scene, but then out of nowhere AJ Styles came up with a pelè on Hernandez!

Later, from the top of the Six Sides of Steel structure we saw AJ Styles cut wind as he flew down with a picture perfect cross body splash on Hernandez! Hernandez would later try his part on top of the cage but it was a bad landing for him that only caught canvas.

A coat hanger was then brought into the equation when Konnan gave it to Homicide. He would use it to choke the life out of Christopher Daniels. Already sending the champs on brink of losing, the Gringo Killer, which was executed on AJ Styles, was the final nail in the coffin. Konnan’s militant thugs became the new NWA World Tag Team Champions at “Bound For Glory”.

Winners & NEW NWA World Tag Team Champions: Homicide & Hernandez

Love them or hate them, they are your new champions following this physically grueling match!

TITLE VS. CAREER
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
“THE KING OF THE MOUNTAIN” JEFF JARRETT (c) vs. STING
SPECIAL ENFORCER: KURT ANGLE
After a mysterious disappearance from the Stinger, he went through a transformation in appearance upon knowing that this could be his very last match in his wrestling career. But on the flip side, this could be his second reign as NWA World Heavyweight Champion, next to his win back back on July 7, 1990 against Ric Flair. It could go either way, but only one thing was for sure, Kurt Angle, the special enforcer for the match was going to make sure that the rightful man would leave as champion from Detroit, Michigan!

Jeff Jarrett wisely took the fight straight to Sting physically in the preliminary moments of the match. It really caught Sting off guard, a man who has been gone from the ring for the past two months. For Jeff Jarrett though, who has been wrestling on a frequent basis, was so crisp in the ring in letting Sting know that this was “Title vs. Career”. Sting was visibly frustrated as he slapped the ring ropes upon trying his hand at wrestling again but it just wasn’t happening.

Sting went to the outside almost as if he was giving up, but Kurt Angle was there to console him and restart the bout so to speak. After the brief pep talk with Angle, it appeared to be all well for Stinger fans as he began directing the fight.

While fighting on the outside, Kurt Angle let it be known that the referee's job was inside the ring, while his was outside the ring. That didn’t mean Sting could use a chair though, Angle wanted it to be fair game so the two tugged and pulled for it until Sting finally let go when Jarrett came swinging upon missing Sting and hitting Angle. Kurt was down momentarily from the chair shot as Jarrett and Sting brought the wrestling match back inside the six-sided ring.

The two would knock each other silly when they both went for a cross body clothesline. The referee was about to make the ten count but just in the knick of time, Kurt Angle rushed over to deliver a humongous Olympic Slam on referee Rudy Charles. Kurt didn’t come to Detroit to see a no-contest finish, nor did the thousands of TNA fans in attendance tonight, or the millions at home – they came to see a winner and now Kurt Angle officiating the match!

NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Jarrett began working the left leg of Sting, to the point of evening locking in Kurt Angle’s signature Ankle Lock. The experience level of Sting began to show when he was able to out maneuver Jarrett and finally break the hold. He would then want to use his baseball bat but Kurt Angle was again there to stop the potential disqualification; but then out of nowhere we saw Jeff Jarrett land a guitar shot on Sting, completely slaying the guitar. That left every single body in the arena stunned, and Kurt Angle himself didn’t know what he was going to do until Sting who was still standing, suddenly awoke from the hit with an electric bounce back taunt upon locking in the Scorpion Death Lock.

It was at that point, where the Scorpion Death Lock was synched in, that we had finally come to realize that Sting was staying in TNA. Jeff Jarrett tapped out and Sting was now your new NWA World Heavyweight Champion – regaining the title after first winning the prestigious title sixteen years ago!

Winner & NEW NWA World Heavyweight Champion: Sting

After the match, Kurt Angle gave Sting the floor to celebrate with his newly won NWA World Heavyweight Championship. The look on Jeff Jarrett’s face spelt emptiness. He had just lost his one prized possession and without it, he becomes nothing to himself. This was definitely the end of one chapter, while the beginning of a new chapter in TNA Wrestling!

I enjoyed the show... definate highlights for me where the Six Sides of Steel Match although I wanted Styles/Daniels to retain but oh well. The main event was what I expected but at least Sting now looks in shape and not such a mess. Best part of the show though for me was again seeing Angle and Joe go at it... man that's gonna be a hot match.
