Some of the younger members of the roster are reportedly unhappy with Bane's involvement in the World Heavyweight Championship hunt at this moment in time. It is well known that Bane has a special part time contract with GZW2K1 which entitles him to a very relaxed schedule (typically, he will be on the road with the rest of the roster for only four months out of every year) and his promotional appearances have reduced dramatically over the years.
This heat apparently intensified when Bane was unable to identify certain GZW2K1 roster members when appearing as a special guest commentator on GZW2K1's late night TV show Wednesday Wreckage (which is a 60 minute show taped before live Crimson broadcasts, primarily featuring developmental talent and lowercard Globalstars). Bane supposedly needed photograph cue cards in order to identify certain wrestlers, such as Kolic, Tamer, Reid Maxwell and The Sandwich.
Despite this, the injury-prone and soon to retire Bane is still well liked and respected among his fellow veterans, and is still widely regarded as a pleasant individual. Many close relationships with the influential likes of Nathaniel Davis and Lord Leon Corbin are seen as the reason as to why Bane is able to keep his comfortable spot on the roster. He is also seen as valuable by management in utilizing his vast experience to help other Globalstars get over with the fans, even able to somewhat help get the charisma vacuum known as Richard Napier over two years ago, as the duo were paired up as a tag team.
The former HKWF World Heavyweight Champion has been very shy on promotional appearances lately, despite his big match in the main event of upcoming show 'Down Under.' It is rumoured that Bane will win the GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship on the night and have a short run with the belt before retiring for good.
Following on from this news, we have learned that Chris Cairns is set to once again assist Bane in a managerial role, effective immediately, having had his manager's permit application granted by GroundZero management. Starting at Down Under, and for the first time in over six years, Bane will be fighting opponents with Cairns - the wily industry veteran who is soon to be Knighted by Queen Elizabeth II - in his corner.
