"I warned you Quake. I told you not to push me and that match would be called right down the middle. So what do you do? You go and not only question my judgment but you laid a hand on me. You left me no other choice but to drop you where you stood. Truth is, I gave you way too much slack in that match to begin with. When you first got in my face I should have taken you out of the equation but I chose to allow you to compete. I gave you plenty of chances to win that match like a real man but you couldn't do it. You couldn't put away Bane so you basically went and had yourself disqualified. Bravo Quake, bravo."
"As for you Bane, you were in the wrong place at the wrong time my friend. I was so enraged at Quake that when you put your hand on my shoulder I lost it and took out my anger on you. Had you simply taken a step back and perhaps capitalized on the situation perhaps maybe the match would have had an actual winner instead of it ending in a no contest. So in some regards you have no one to blame but yourself. However I'd be remissed to say I don't hold some of the blame, after all. It wasn't you who pushed me too far was it?"
The words of the GZW World Champion were surprisingly calm all things considering. Nathan sits quietly on the edge of the bed holding the World Title in both of his hands looking at his reflection in the large gold plate.
"So now because of my actions at Down Under both of you get a shot at this belt. The red carpet is being rolled out for both of you. At Down Under you share the red carpet with me when we step into that ring for a triple threat match. The odds are stacked against me, and the chances of me walking out with my title have dropped substantially. Don't take this as me giving up though because I will be walking out of Down Under with this World Title still around my waist. By hook or by crook this title will stay with me."
He lowers the title and looks at the camera.
"Quake you and I have been down this road before at Heatwave. I underestimated you and you almost made me pay for it. Because of my shortsightedness I almost lost this belt. That won't happen twice. I'm not overlooking you, I'm not looking at this match as a walk in the park, and I'm not misjudging your abilities. I know what you're capable of and I know the talent you have. But I also know what your limits are. Whether you know it or not you exposed your weaknesses to me not only at Heatwave but at Crimson as well."
"The world already knows you lack that killer instinct. You couldn't finish me off at Heatwave and then again at Crimson you couldn't finish Bane off with that chair. You froze like a statue when it was all on the line. But that's not what this is about Quake. This isn't about your lack of killer instinct, it's about you not having any heart. At Heatwave you came out and took me to my limits, but towards the end you stopped caring and you started to get sloppy. At Crimson when you took on Bane you were giving him all he could handle and then you got sloppy again. You don't care. Your problem is that you simply don't care. So with that in mind I gotta ask why you still do this. It can't be because of the money. I've seen your contract, I know you're not making a ton of money. I mean yeah you're making more money than most of the roster but in retrospect you're not making a whole lot. So why put your body through the stress and injuries? Obviously it's not because you like to hear yourself speak, at one time that would have been my guess but since you keep vanishing that can't be it. So why? Why go to all this trouble to just phone it in?"
"Well Quake you've been given one more chance to prove me wrong. You wanted another chance to shock the world and show us all we misjudged you and now you're being offered that opportunity. You gonna phone this one to? You plan on half assing this match just like your last two big ones? I hope not because this may be your last chance at greatness. After this you won't be known as Quake the TV Champion or Quake the GM. You'll be known simply as Quake the Chokeartist."
His eyes remain focused and steady on the camera.
"I hope you were listening to everything I just said Bane because most of that goes for you as well. The biggest difference though is you didn't phone it in at Heatwave or Crimson. You gave it your all and probably should be standing here with this title in your possession. Had it not been for John Taylor that might be the situation, however it's not and I still hold this title. But you're being afforded another shot at the World Title before you finally call it quits."
"Is your body gonna hold up Bane? I know the surgeries you've had and the injuries you've endured over the years so will your body make it through Down Under? You think you can hold it together for that long? I hope you can. I hope your body holds out long enough for you to make this match interesting. I know I can't rely on Quake to hold up his end of the bargain so I'm looking at you. You know better than anybody that when you step into the ring with me I give you all I've got, but I need to ask you Bane. How much do you have left? How much is left in your tank? I guess we find out in just a few short weeks don't we?"
Before he can say anything else a ringing phone can be heard in the background. Reaching out and grabbing his phone off the nearby dresser the GZW Icon answers it.
"Hello?"
..
"What do you mean I'm being sued? By who?"
.....
"I don't give a flying fuck! It's not my fault Brian lost his job and then no showed all those court appearances. Why am I catching the flack for his mistakes?"
...
"No! You listen to me Jerry. They locked Brian up a couple of months ago because of that bullshit back in December. I'm not responsible for him not paying the money he owes the defendants and the state. I wasn't involved in that case."
..........
"Why was my name on the docket Jerry?"
...
"Do what? I'm gonna kill that juiced up little bastard when I get back to the states!"
.....
"No! You tell that judge to hold off and when I get back to the states I'll be sure the state and the defendants get the money."
...
"No I'm not gonna be paying it, Brian is one way or the other."
.......
"Look Jerry I've gotta go. I've got things I need to tend to here. You keep the judge on ice and I'll handle it when I get home."
He ends the call and tosses the phone back up on the dresser.
"I'm gonna kill that roided up freak!"
Without another word Nathan gets to his feet and walks out of the room bringing the scene to a close.
