(The scene opens up in the locker room. It’s fairly empty as most GZW2K1 Globalstars either have their own private lockers or won’t be gearing up for a while now. That is not true for Tamer. With the first match on the card he’s finishing his preparations, taping up his hands.)
Tamer: There’s an interesting moment right before the shows begins. Everything settles for a just a moment, barely even a breath in the grand scheme of things. Everyone in this arena spent all day getting ready for the event. The crew setting up and testing. I’ve seen the higher ups on the roster coming in rolling through catering easing into their routines. They know that the show itself will give them a chance to escape for a moment and get into their headspace. But for someone first on the card. This is it. All you have as the opening act. The crowd has all but finished filing in. If you listen closely you can almost hear it…
(There is a buzz to the arena. The kind that only an arena packed to the rafters and brimming with excitement can bring.)
Tamer: Tonight I get a chance to be on the big stage again. My first challenge is Red Dragon, the self proclaimed “Minister of Evil”. I’ve watched some tapes on this guy.
(Tamer takes a breath and fights back a laugh)
Tamer: It’s spooky stuff… Or maybe it would be if this was my first rodeo... But it it’s not
(Tamer stands up and rolls his shoulders loosening up.)
Tamer: And I’ve seen enough Evil Lords, Demonic Preachers, and Carnival Charlatans. Its attention grabbing, if you’re a rookie in this business it can be damn intimidating. But when you’ve traveled up and down every highway in the US and flown every red eye for shows across the globe… Well, frankly, it’s cute.
(Tamer rolls his neck.)
Tamer: It really really is. You’re trying to send chills down my spine with a nice coffin prop and some lights that blink. And the paper mache mask is just lovely… it really is. A plus job. But let’s see what happens when that bell rings…
(Tamer walks out of the locker room to head for the staging area.)
