GUESS WHO'S BACK...
A Legend Returns, a Champion is crowned, and a man gets his chance at Redemption
If fans were left buzzing by War: Reloaded, then the final UK event before the Globalstars leave for Hong Kong would have sent them into a full frenzy.
In his first show as Interim Commissioner, Icon Lord Jon Kellar announced a No.1 Contender tournament for the World Heavyweight Championship. Early on the show Burke eliminated "God of Pain" Bane in what many are speculating was Bane's final GZW2K1 match. Burke would then interfere in the second bracket and break "Vitamin G" Gideon Reece's arm, handing the victory to Kolic.
Kolic himself was a surprise entrant, given his "rocky" relationship with the GZW2K1 Hierarchy, and events later in the night suggested that Kellar's decision to include him in the tournament may have significant consequences.
Elsewhere, The Mongrel spent the evening cutting a swathe through the GZW2K1 roster, and over the course of the night and for a variety of reasons most of the Women's division set their sights on bringing down current champion Davina Cameron. Cameron herself proposed a fatal-four-way to determine her next challenger, and confirmed that she would be heading to Hong Kong on the Summer Heat Tour, despite previous promises!
But the best was yet to come.
Firstly, the 21,000 strong crowd witnessed Alex Cross' long and dominant reign as W.C.E.K Television Champion come to an end at the hands of the increasingly popular Mickey Tourette. A fiercely contested match between the two talents ended when Tourette avoided the Crossfire and instead hit the Remedy for the pinfall.
Then, as Tourette marched from the ring in celebration, the crowd were stunned by the surprise return of former World Heavyweight Champion "Mr Showtime" Vernon Vanderbilt. Looking like he'd never been away, Vanderbilt whipped up the crowd into a frenzy.
"The Furnace of Fabulosity, the Emperor of the Universe, and YOUR favorite wrestler, “Mr. Showtime” Vernon Vanderbilt is back...in...business! You're welcome!"
However, excitement then turned to fury as Alex Cross attacked the former champion, leaving him an unconscious mess in the ring as Crimson went off the air.
