Real Name: Brendan Locke
Date of Birth: 23rd October 1983
Height: 6ft 3
Weight: 210lbs
Entrance Theme: Lordi - Blood Red Sandman
Wrestling style:
To watch him in action, one would be forgiven for believing he is working a drunken master style; wobbling with tiredness and generally looking dead on his feet. However, Insomniac is a wiley worker. He likes to tire his opponent with submission holds, before throwing them about with suplexes. He wrestles a style that wouldnt look out of place in judo, but isn't opposed to brawling when need be.
One thing that works in his favour is that, while not always the sharpest wrestler, thanks to his lethargy, he is very difficult to knock out, never having lost consciousness in his life. He will be more likely to tap out and stay awake, or disqualify himself than pass out from pain.
If things get too tough, or he gets bored, insomniac will try to knock the opponent out with Pandora's box, which he leaves at ringside. If an opponent tries to even go near it, he will be quick to grab a weapon and hurt his opponent for their transgression.
Trademark Moves: Go 2 Sleep - starting in a fireman's carry, insomniac throws his opponent up as if going for a gut buster, but knees his opponent in the face on the way down.
Night Terror - Insomniac lifts his opponent onto his shoulder as if going for an awesome bomb, but swings them back down, dropping them face first in a sit out ddt. This often sets the opponent up for...
Finisher: The Awakening - insomniac gets his opponent in a sleeper hold while hooking one of the opponent's arms. He throws the opponent back, dropping them on their head. (sleeper suplex).
Background:
Brendan has a problem. For as long as he and his family can remember, he has been unable to sleep. It's not that he can't. It's that won't.
He has his reasons...reasons he keeps locked up tight.
The downside? He's perpetually tired. He's angry. He is prone to violent moodswings to the point that his aunt, who has been his sole carer, has been reduced to little more than a punching bag.
She's had enough. While he's virtually unemployable, she knows that there is one vocation that's perfect for him.
During his mid to late teens, as an attempt to curb his violence, Brendan had been enrolled in wrestling classes. It was supposed to be an outlet for his anger and could perhaps tire him to the point of sleeping.
It didn't work. Mocked by other students for carrying a wooden box wherever he went, he soon took his violence outside the ring.
He was a standout student, and was offered a position on the roster of many money hungry promotions.
He declined, but one company kept the offer open for whenever he was ready.
Brendan may not have deemed himself ready, but his Aunt, sick of the beatings had already made preparations. She had plenty of money, and had placed an advert on websites and in newspapers, asking for a carer to help a sick man travel the world. When she had a reply, it would all be fine.
After three weeks, a reply came. That same night, after receiving her final beating, Brendan Lock's aunt picked up the phone and made two calls.
The first call was to the applicant. He sounded reliable enough and was willing to start the very next day.
The second was to a wrestling promotion named GZW.
Brendan, his wooden box, and his new carer were heading to Atlanta.
Entrance:
Blood Red Sandman by Lordi begins and red spotlights begin to swing back and forth over the ramp and ring. As soon as the vocals kick in, Insomniac spins his way into the arena, clutching Pandora's box tightly to his chest. He furtively examines the crowd with distrust.
After pausing for a few seconds, Insomniac sprints down to the ring and rolls under the bottom rope in one fluid movement without letting go of pandora.
Insomniac gets to his feet and places pandora under a bottom turnbuckle and then stands in front of it protectively.
