For six Years, Sirius wrestled in the very small Hong Kong independent circle, often being told he was too one-dimensional to make it in the mainstream by his fellow wrestlers. This resulted in Sirius to have a chip on his shoulder and hone his style down to a brutal science. The wrestlers and fans hated his vicious onslaught and his calm, almost emotionless demeanor. Promoters, however, loved his style and understated intensity; booking him to the point where he could make a living in this sport, while most of his fellow wrestlers had to work two or even three jobs to make ends meet.
While attending the GroundZero Wrestling 2K1 pay-per-view, Heatwave IV, he met Fox Giovianni, who was highly impressed with his style. She offered him a contract to work for Hong Kong Wrestling Federation, which he snapped up almost immediately.
