As Mike reported a few minutes ago, Paul Heyman is gone from WWE. From talking to a number of people in company, the impression I received was that Vince McMahon was irate about how awful the PPV was last night and wanted to pin the blame on Heyman for it. Anyone who knows anything about Heyman's booking, as I have for years now, have a pretty good idea that the show was much more McMahon than Heyman. But according to people I spoke with, Heyman got pinned with the blame for it with the theory being that "he is caught in the past and doesn't understand the new vision of ECW". You know, the vision that ends PPVs a half hour early and makes the fans boo what WWE creative books for them.

The problems started yesterday at the ECW PPV when everyone realized that the show really stunk. Heyman was said to be unhappy with the way that the show was booked (big shock right) and sources backstage told me that he voiced that concern both before the show and after it. People at TV told me today that it was obvious that there were issues between Vince McMahon and Heyman because of the how the show played out on pay TV, with everyone knowing it was a disaster. Problems carried over from last night and led to the incidents that happened today.

A number of sources told me that there was a meeting today around two o'clock with Heyman, Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon-Levesque at the building. Heyman came out the meeting and seemed like his normal self, with no one I talked to having any idea that something bad had happened. Shortly thereafter, Heyman gathered his things and left the building to go home.

The word going around from everyone I talked to is that this is not a storyline in any way and he is legitimately done with the company.

Distraught by the results of December to Dismember, ECW Representative Paul Heyman appeared to be distant and depressed this afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum hours before an ECW live event.

This condition was further exasperated by Mr. McMahon, who decided to send Heyman home. The WWE Chairman cited slumping television ratings and a disgruntled talent roster as causes for Mr. Heyman’s dismissal.

According to Dave Scherer of PWInsider.com, Vince McMahon was furious at last night’s ECW December to Dismember pay per view and is trying to pin all the blame on Paul Heyman. Nevermind the fact that it was more of a WWE style pay per view than an ECW one.

According to Scherer's sources McMahon believes that Heyman doesn’t get what the new vision of ECW should be and that he is “caught in the past”. So how did all of this come about?

Well apparently, the problems started last night when Heyman, angry at how the show was being booked, began voicing his opinions before, during and after the show. Reportedly there were definite issues between McMahon and Heyman that escalated today at the tapings where a meeting was held at approximately 2PM Eastern Time with Heyman, Stephanie McMahon-Levesque, and Vince McMahon.

After the meeting, Heyman came out of the meeting looking normal like nothing had transpired. He then grabbed his stuff and left. The word is this is NOT a storyline at all and that Paul Heyman is done with World Wrestling Entertainment.

Well Ecw went away when the thought of the Idea of bringing it back. The first show proved it.

I felt that they should have just let Ecw operate as it's own brand, totally seperate from the WWE and with Legit Ecw stars

Guess there's really no reason left to watch ECW now, aside from CM Punk. He should probably go back to TNA now before his career is completely sunk by the machine.

I swear, sometimes it's like Vince wants WWE to fold. I think he's afraid of success.

Well, this is also true. TNA could be better if they had a longer time slot though. The last show I caught wasn't all that good, mostly because the matches are way too short. But then ECW has the same problem, so it's really a lose/lose situation.

The wrestling is decent, but they really have NO direction whatsoever. It's such a mess. Some of the feuds are just random, too. AJ Styles and Rhino feuding because Rhino wanted to make peace between him and Daniels? And now it's about who had it worse as a kid? Dee-dee-dee! Angle/Joe is turning into a disappointment, mainly because Angle can't work an epic match so much anymore (can't blame the guy). The VKM stuff is seriously the DUMBEST crap TNA could possibly pull from the depths of their storlyline trash can. It makes me cringe, watching two washed up pieces of crap trying to insult WWE for "dumb to the xtreme" (WTF is that, anyway?!) promos, when the two were just running around with a 66 year old man trying to pass him off as a threat in wrestling. I mean... UGH! And the X-Division has just crumbled to absolute poo. Also, they need to push Shelly and Sabin better...

The only smart thing they have done is give Abyss the title. *sigh* WWE is just about better than TNA. No. I'll one up it. WWE IS better than TNA! They've even had better matches recently, and shockingly it's because of tag teams... Wow, who would have thought the E would manage to bring some life back to that?

Oh, yeah, Heyman... I think it's a work.

Well, I can't speak to TNA's storylines. I quit watching it regularly a while ago now. I still like to tune in if I hear there's gonna be a decent match though. I've only half been watching ECW for the last month or so, so I can't speak too much of it in terms of the PPV build-up. Overall, I think ECW had a strong(ish) start but it's been sliding lately. If the Heyman thing isn't a work, it does not bode well for the future of the brand. Vince needs to understand that just calling it ECW doesn't make it ECW.

Especially with Lashley as the Champ. ECW is lookin bad. I just tune in to see the whole 5 minutes of CM Punk, if we're lucky. Well, and Kevin Thorn, 'cause I've always liked the guy playing him.

At one point, I had high hopes for ECW... But alas, I fear the opportunity for greatness has slipped through WWE's fingers.

And TNA storylines do indeed suck, but their PPVs are generally superb for grap action IMO. Rob and I only tend to bother with their PPVs...

Sean, i agree completly with the TNA thing. They have no direction, similar to WcW in the last days, but WcW was better and their storylines were better than TNA's. TNA's current direction as far as storylines goes needs major surgery, and I mean Major Surgery. The Face/Heel changes happens on a weekly basis. One week Christian is face, the next he's heel, then face then heel, just let them stay onesided for a complete month....PLease.

The VKM stuff is just a DX ripoff. It replaying what DX did during the final days of the ratings wars, and these two cannot pull off a good promo to save their lives.

I'm glad people are finally realizing I was right all along in saying TNA sucks.
