Indeed, on the 16th December at perhaps the best wrestling venue in the country, Real Quality Wrestling, will be putting on a show that is virtually free. Virtually free because they are asking for a donation to a charity that helps homeless people at Christmas, there are details further down about that though.
Now I've just copied and pasted the press release about the show below, so there is a bit of company promotion and stuff but all the details of the 16th December show can be found towards the top. It should be a fantastic show and it has things going towards a worthy cause, so if you're in the London area or can make it there (I'm coming down from Leicester for the show) then you should definetly try to be in attendance.
The show itself is looking great as talent from all around the country are coming together for a one night tournament, so it'll be a great chance to see some of the best talent that the UK has to offer.
First round matches are now announced for the RQW Christmas 8 man Title tournament
RQW have today announced the complete first round line up for their biggest ever event on Saturday December 16th. The show, titled “Not just for Christmas 2006” will feature a multiple company 8 man knock out tournament to crown the brand new RQW champion and the first UK entry into the history making King of Europe Cup tournament next April. What makes this an even bigger Christmas gift for UK fans is that the event is completely FREE OF CHARGE!
The event’s extremely high profile link with charity “Crisis” is certain to gain the show, its winner and British wrestling a lot of press coverage on top of the brand title belt and a place in April’s ground breaking world wide tournament.
First round matches are:
PAC (1PW) Vs Ashley Reed (IPW:UK)
Drew Galloway (IWW) Vs El Ligero (SAS)
Jody Fleisch (FWA) Vs Steve Grey (Premier Promotions)
Iceman (WZW) Vs Martin Stone (TBA)
The companies involved on December 16th were drawn at random from a list of nearly 20 Real Quality Wrestling companies in the UK. Seven companies were drawn and asked to send a representative and with Martin Stone being the only entry not sent by a promotion. Stone beat Doug Williams at the debut RQW York Hall event on November 11th meaning he is now allowed to pick the company of his choice to represent. IPW:UK and 1PW being the promotions many feel he is most likely to select.
The official tournament bracket was drawn live from the RQW London studios today (December 1st) and can be seen on the brand new RQW website which launches later Ttoday. You can also watch the draw here via You Tube:
The RQW site will feature one of the most multimedia interactive wrestling company websites ever seen. The plan is to make this the new online home of real quality British wrestling giving all companies and wrestlers who fall under that category a home much like the monthly York Hall events will do.
The new site can be found at www.realqualitywrestling.com where you can currently find a holding page with more details regarding the December 16th event and how to claim tickets.

RQW join hands with “Crisis” Charity on December 16th
RQW are proud to announce that we are now working with the “Crisis” charity for our Christmas Spectacular on Saturday December 16th at London’s York Hall.
Crisis work with London’s homeless community and at Christmas their work load is greatly increased. This is due to the special Christmas hostels they set up for seven days from December 23rd. In an effort to help this extremely valuable cause we are asking fans to make a simple donation of food in return for the free show. This donation can be as small as one tin of beans to several larger items.
Here is a list of what we will be accepting for this very special event
- Tinned food (beans, tomatoes etc)
- Chocolate bars (Mars etc)
Please only bring these items
People can also make completely voluntary cash donations in buckets that will be located around the York Hall on December 16th.
Where is your contribution going?
Christmas 2006 is Crisis’ 35th Crisis Open Christmas. For 34 years, Crisis Open Christmas has provided homeless people with warmth, companionship, food and a safe place to sleep over the Christmas holiday.
Over 34 years Crisis has helped 20,000 guests, served a quarter of a million meals and has been supported by the involvement of more than 30,000 volunteers
Crisis Open Christmas has constantly evolved to reflect the changing needs of homeless people. Today, the majority of our guests may have some form of accommodation. But they continue to need companionship and access to services that they may struggle to find the rest of the year.
Crisis Open Christmas provides an opportunity for homeless people to
• meet old friends and make new ones at what can be a lonely time
• enjoy a range of esteem building therapies and services, such as hairdressing, massage, eye and foot care
• take advantage of over 20 on site services (health/housing/legal/job opportunities)
• learn new skills such as IT, Literacy, Maths and ESOL
• Start to begin to rebuild their lives and look forward to the New Year with renewed hope and confidence.
COC also provides an opportunity for the wider public to
• volunteer their time and skills at Christmas
• Understand what it is to be homeless.
We feel that this is a great step forward for the UK scene in our efforts to re-establish British wrestling as a community friendly form of entertainment. We also feel that by asking for tinned food not only is this a lot easier to contribute by our fans than money alone etc but that we at RQW feel comfortable that it is going directly to the homeless people.
We hope the UK wrestling fans can show their support to this project and turn out in force to support this truly unique and rewarding partnership. We are confident that this will be a success for everyone involved and hopefully plan to make this an annual event for the UK wrestling calendar.
