Anarchy Pro Wrestling Announce Debut Event
Anarchy Pro Wrestling (APW) is proud to announce their inaugural event, Tabula Rasa, scheduled for Saturday 16th June, 2007 at the home of International Showdown, the SkyDome Arena in Coventry, England.
Founded by Andrew Bailey and backed by venture capitalist Charles Buchan, APW promises a ‘no rules, no limits’ style of wrestling and top stars from around the world. Already scheduled for the debut event are former WWE and current Ring of Honor star Brent Albright, Turkish Pro-Wrestling NOAH star Murat Bosporus, Germany's only female wrestler Jazzy-Bi, UK star and All Counties Wrestling Champion Scott Future, former WWE and TNA star Joe E. Legend and Europe’s fastest-rising star, former Irish Heavyweight Champion “The Irish Curse” Sheamus O’Shaunessy. Several other top stars are also in negotiations to appear and will be announced in the coming days, weeks and months.
The first match on the card has already been signed and it’ll be global warfare as Irishman Sheamus O’Shaunessy challenges Canadian Joe E. Legend for Legend’s PPW (Japan) World Heavyweight Title. These two men have met only once before - for Brian Dixon’s All Star Wrestling - when a dubious decision gave SOS the victory in a non-title bout. For O’Shaunessy this represents his first opportunity to taste Japanese gold but Legend wants revenge. "I'll beat him up, I'll beat him down and then I'll beat him 1, 2, 3 right in the middle of the ring and prove to him as well as the rest of the great British fans in attendance that heroes come and heroes go... but Legends live FOREVER!!!" said Legend of the title bout.
With no rules, no limits, and a World Title on the line, who knows what could happen when these two stars collide?
Promoter Bailey said “This is a great time for British wrestling, with so many talented youngsters coming through the various outstanding training facilities this country has to offer. I hope to combine that talent with some of the very best international stars to create a truly unique product and develop some great new stars for the future.
“I don’t want people to see APW as just another ‘super show’ promotion,” he continued “I want people to see APW as a professionally operated company that provides great entertainment and world class professional wrestling consistently, and on a regular basis.”
Some of the APW talent roster were also happy to comment. “It's been a long time since the United Kingdom had a real place to showcase talent on a large scale.” Said APW’s lead commentator Tom Campbell. “This is a golden opportunity for Anarchy Pro Wrestling to become that place: somewhere people can turn to and see as the benchmark of the British wrestling circuit. Anarchy have all the tools to leave a mark on a wrestling circuit marred by fly-by-night, blink-and-you'll-miss-them indy promotions. It'll be like World Of Sport wrestling, but replace belly splashes with 450 splashes!”
Scott Future said "I would like to thank APW for giving me a chance to wrestle at the Coventry Sky Dome, an arena well known to wrestlers and wrestling fans. I am training hard, currently defending my CWC All Counties Wrestling title in Southampton, and getting ready to be part of what I think will be a great show for APW in June.
“You will see a more aggressive Scott Future and I’ll be putting 100% into tearing the house down for everyone in attendance!"
Brent Albright: “I'm very excited about being a part of the APW family and making my return to the UK, where not only some of the greatest wrestlers in the world are, but definitely the greatest fans. On June 16th you will see the very best APW has to offer and the very best Brent Albright has to offer. On the 16th of June you will see that anyone who steps in the ring with me at APW will have only two choices: Get Out or Tap Out!”
Ticket details will be released very soon and new stars and matches for the event will be announced in due course. To be the first to receive ticket information, fans should contact APW via e-mail at anarchypromoter@googlemail.com or text “START WRESTLING” to 60066 to receive updates. You can also keep up to date with all APW and Tabula Rasa-related news by logging on to the APW website at www.apwuk.co.nr
A further announcement will also be made this Sunday, January 7th, on The Main Event Radio Show, which can be heard by visiting www.maineventradio.co.uk. Promoter Andrew Bailey will be a guest on the show from 6pm GMT.
