Former WWE writer Dan Madigan recently appeared on an online radio show talking about his experience with WWE. He said that his agent sent a movie script he had written to WWE, and they liked it so they became interested in his services. He talked about pitching a lengthy exorcism angle that would end with Stephanie McMahon being exorcized on pay-per-view. She loved the idea so much she gave him a job. He also said that when he wrote See No Evil, Vince McMahon suggested a theme where Kane would masturbate on-screen and show that he has a 36-inch penis. Madigan said that the idea wouldn't be any good and out of all the people in room, he was the only person to say anything about it. He also said that his version of the movie was much darker than the final version. He also praised Glen "Kane" Jacobs for his work in the movie. He said he quit WWE when they were on a European tour and he had to rush home because his wife had a miscarriage and his father-in-law suddenly died. As he was attending his father-in-law's funeral, he got a call telling him to come back to Europe to attend a meeting regarding Tough Enough. He then quit the company.
Bobby Lashley is currently dealing with a nagging shoulder problem that dates back before WrestleMania. Due to the recent rash of injuries in WWE, it there's no way that he's taking time off unless the injury became severe.
Apparently, one of the few things that Bobby Lashley is criticised of is his mic skills. (I know his skills are not that great, but IMO they are better than Cena's.
It was reported earlier today that Steve O of Jackass fame had posted a message on his MySpace page saying that he and his buddies would be involved with the main event at SummerSlam. In his message, he also talked about filming a SummerSlam commercial and his experience backstage at Raw last night.
Dave Meltzer is now reporting that he will be WRESTLING in the main event at SummerSlam. Yes, you read that correctly, he will be wrestling in the main event at the show. In his MySpace message, Steve-O teased that the match was almost called off last night. That is true, but as of today, it's still on. (they will have him Wrestling Cena I bet...man I hate seeing Cena in the Main event)
The current issue of WWE Magazine with The Hardys on the cover includes an interview with former WWF and WCW superstar Paul Roma. In the interview Roma is asked about his reaction to Ric Flair and Arn Anderson’s negative comments towards him on the Four Horseman DVD. Roma said, "It doesn't bother me. What's disturbing is listening to Arn talk like he's the toughest thing since King Kong. You never did anything, so what makes you tough now? You laid on your bed, sucking down Krispy Kremes and KFC; you're not a tough guy. If you were that tough, Sid [Vicious] wouldn't have beaten you up."
World Wrestling Entertainment implemented a new policy during the middle of last month of not informing their referees of the finishes of matches ahead of time on house show cards. Right now, it is still in the experimental stages, but the finishes of all matches scheduled before intermissions at house shows will indefinitely take place without the referees knowing the planned finish.
The new policy adds a new variable of realism to matches as it forces workers to listen to the referee’s instructions (such as breaking a hold before five) or kicking out of pin attempts before the three count. Since the wrestlers know that the referees are unaware of the finish, they must work in a more convincing fashion and have to pay attention to avoid false finishes.
After the first two weekends of the new policy, there were no incidents of unplanned finishes taking place. "It keeps everyone on their toes," said one WWE backstage source. "There has been nothing bad said about it by anyone so far."
The latest sign in what insiders are seeing as Stephanie McMahon and Triple H running WWE as they see fit is in her recent takeover of the official WWE website. Not only has Stephanie taken over the talent side, but she is now overseeing WWE.com as well.
There is a major philosophical difference on how the site should be run between Shane McMahon and Stephanie & Triple H. Shane feels that pretending wrestling is real and not delivering real news, when wrestling websites such as rajah.com do, makes the site a laughing stock. On the otherhand, both Stephanie and Triple feel that the site should soley be for storyline advancement and to sell merchandise. But with Stephanie put in charge of overseeing the site, with Michael Cole running it, the Steph/Triple H vision has won out. The effects are already starting to sink in because you don't see as much shocking insider stuff on the site as much as you did in the past. A good example of this is that today, WWE is playing up RVD's possible departure from the company due to the second storyline concussion he suffered at last night's pay-per-view.
TV producer Kevin Dunn will be running the site from a business standpoint (setting the budget, hiring & firing workers), but Stephanie will be setting the creative & reporting direction of the site. She will throw anything out that may compromise the characters or storylines. Furthermore, Chris Chambers, who put up a lot of insider stuff on the site (like reporting when Stephanie had a baby and listing Triple H's real name), has been forced out of the company. You're not going to be seeing that type of stuff on WWE.com anymore. The baby announcement greatly upset the dynamic duo and his duties of running the website were subsequently taken away a few weeks later (March 2006). They kept him on the payroll for the better part of another year, but he has since been let go.
Furthermore, the feeling is that Stephanie & Shane will be publically portrayed as a brother & sister duo running the company, but in actuality, Big Steph has all the power. Shane will be the McMahon who represents the company to the public and goes to business meetings. His strong suit is that he's very personable and her gets along with people quite well. Stephanie isn't bad at representing the company, but Shane is better socially and Steph is more like Vince when it comes to business decisions.
