Former X-Division champion Samoa Joe has been telling people that he would rather accept an entry level WWE contract (believed to be $50,000 per year), rather than resigning with TNA. Joe is not happy in TNA, and doesn’t want to stay with the company when his current contract expires.

Sources indicate that The Samoan Submission Machine Samoa Joe's contract is set to expire this coming Fall. He has already apparently turned down a multi year deal with TNA in order to keep his options open if things did not pan out the way he wanted and it is unsure if he'll resign with TNA this year. There was a lot of controversy surrounding Joe's contract when he first came to TNA, indicating he wasn't happy with his pay when he was one of the main focal points of the company. Guys like Sting were getting much higher salaries.
From Wrestling Inc. (don't know how reliable this is and it's a old piece of news from July 31st)

Wow, TNA seems to be turning off some of its better natural TNA talent. Good job! Joe to WWE would seriously be one of the best signings WWE could do right now. That would draw me back in. Vince likes big guys, and Joe is definitely one of the better "big" ones.

They've already got one Umaga...

the only issue I see with that is the casual WWE fan will simply see Joe as a Umaga rip...especially if they allow him to keep his Samoan Submission Machine gimmick which I serious doubt...

Not really surprised Joe has gotten pissed off and doesn't want to re-sign. As if you think about it, he had his unbeaten run in what 2005? 2006? And then lost to Angle which was his first if i'm not mistaken. That's all well and fine, but he has been pushed so close to the World title against Christian, Angle etc and TNA has got cold feet and never put the belt on him, even though it would be the best thing for TNA to do that. So i'm not surprised he doesn't want to sign a new deal, as TNA have messed about with him for well over a year, sure he's a major factor but they've put the belt on Angle, Abyss, Jarrett, Christian, Sting - No offense intended to Abyss nor his fans, but what has he done that Joe hasn't to deserve a title reign? Nothing imo, still Joe's ben messed around and if the belt isn't put on him soon he will walk and rightly so, as he's been messed around long enough.
Risk with the WWE is that they have Umaga, but if they kept Joe and him separate, eg. Joe on Smackdown then it might well work. But i heard they would be repackaging Joe if they signed him...

I wouldn't mind seeing a Joe/Umaga feud...I think it would be good for both
But TNA I dont' know what their problem is, they bring in the WWE Talent and then forget about their own home grown talent. Thats one thing that Vince is good at, if he grows it, he will use it, Many of his former World Champs, were told by the Old WcW that no one would pay to see them as World Champ (Taker, Austin, HHH) but Vince takes and makes them Stars
TNA is just doing what the Failed WcW did, take Vince's stars and try to make them the face of their company.

even though Joe isn't a homegrown TNA star...only those casual fans think that...true fans know that Joe actually was big before he stepped into a TNA ring...but I do get what you are sayin' Rico...I also agree that a Joe/Umaga feud would indeed be a very worthwhile feud to watch...

Plus, Joe's a different persona and character all around. They're both Samoan and a wee on the chubby side, but that's it. It would be an interesting feud, though... But Vince doesn't like to do that. He'll team 'em up or somethin first.

Joe is going to be great no matter where he goes. He is an incredible worker, and moves better den any big man in the business. He has decent mic skills, No worse den CM Punk and hes's ECW biggest draw. I think right now Vince has an awesome young core of guys that he's starting to build. adding Joe to Punk, burke, Morrison, Kennedy, Orton, Edge, Carlito, and all the other guys who are really starting to get their time in the spotlight, He's got a LOT more time as the tyrant of pro wrestling. Only with thse guys, we may get the style of wrestling thatthe GZW guys seem to enjoy. That style that has more of an indy feel. TNA better start acting right or they are going to end up in Vince's pocket like WCW and ECW ended up.
Now i'm still not giving up on TNA though, because when they get the 2 hour show things may change for the better and when u have THE best wrestler in the world right now in Angle on your show, it's hard to say their done and over with.

Do you think they'll let him do half the moves he has in his repertoire? They'll clip that guy's wings for sure, his style is not WWE friendly...

What will they clip off his move list?
His dive over the top rope? Wait Bobby Lashley and Undertaker do that...
As for his other moves in the ring they won't cut them off at all i don't think. As personally they haven't restricted CM Punk, nor many outside the CW division. And personally in TNA he doesn't use a ton of moves to be fair, he has no more than 10 that i've seen, and that's a similar amount towhat are used by the WWE/ECW wrestlers. So i don't think if he went to WWE/ECW he would have any problem with his move set at all...

yea they will cut some moves from his list...they did it to Taz(they cut most of his suplex's) so it will happen to him....but WWE does love people with aloot of submission moves and that is what Joe has.
