In a perfect world, a company will have nothing but guys who can wrestle and entertain at the same time. But that's pretty much impossible. WWE has guys who can really REALLY wrestle. But for every Shelton Benjamin there is a Big Daddy V. For every Edge ders a Batista. For every HBK there's a John Cena, for ever HHH theres a Great Khali. Vince is a storyteller who incoporates wrestling into his show. and that draws fans. Some people tune into Raw to watch Jeff Hardy vs Shelton Benjamin, which I thought was a pretty nice lil match dis week on raw. But then some people tune in to watch Hornswaggle bite his adopted mother on da ass, then watch Randy Orton vs John Cena's dad.
As much as I appreciate a very good in ring performance, If your a company trying to make money, you have to give all types of wrestling fans something to enjoy. TNA has a very VERY solid group of in ring performers. But is Abyss the most charismatic guy in the world? Not really. Joe? He's ok, but he's no wizard on the mic. SO they have their wrestlers, and their x-division guys, and THEN they have the guys who are there just to tell the story. Team 3d, Nash, The Steiners( i know they are not ultra charismatic, but if ur over, then u automatically bring ratings, and they are OVER)
I keep on saying it, and I'll say it again. the people they are bringing in is NOT the problem. Give Vince that roster and he'd sell it. But u put it in the hands of Vince Russo, and you get the same 10-15 stories and angles, and fueds over and over again. TNA is reminding you of WCW because he's letting it happen. Vince just put Daivari in the ring with Hacksaw Jim Duggan for gods sake. lol. nonw of TNA's guys are that washed up. But when they come in, instead of using those old over guys to push the younger talent, he's putting them over. ALL of them.
In closing, dont get mad at Dixie Carter for signing marketable established talent to TNA, Don't get mad at Kevin Nash and The other old farts roaming around TNA. get mad at russo for using his roster in alllll the wrong ways, and thank god that Sting is still a decent worker, cuz russo would have pushed him anyway. lol

I agree with you Mike, to a certian extent.
It's also up to the wrestlers in the ring to be able to put on a decent match, now I know that not everyone has good chemistry with each other, and thats why you also have to incorporate comedy into the show, we all need a good laugh here and there, and some of the talent that TNA has signed from Vince, gives us that and it's not intentional either lol...
But you do bring up a valid point, Talent are signed based on what they did, and potentially what they can do, but it's up to the talent and the producer/writers to make good on that potential.
I don't know why they signed Vince Russo to begin with, after all this is the guy that made David Arquette the WcW World Heavyweight Champion, and IMO that just destroyed the Legacy of the belt. I remember around the time with Arquette was their champ, I was living in Memphis and Nitro came into town, there was a main event, I forget who was all involved, but i know Jeff Jarrett, Sting, DDP and Sid were involved, and they did a spot on the ramp where the someone go put through the stage(I believe it was JJ who got pulled down off the ladder on the side of the nitro-tron, or what ever the name of it is, by DDP)
Well out comes Arquette, and once he comes out you can tell the spot was blown becaues I don't know if he turned the wrong way coming our or not, but the moment he comes out, he falls right into the hole. That was all Vince Russos doing. In WWF/E Russo had McMahon to tell him when Ideas were stupid, in WcW and TNA he has no one so he can run roughshod over all them, and it shows during the course of the show.

I agree with everythin' Mike said...but Rico/Mike as far as Russo is concerned he doens't have absolute writin' control over TNA...so all the blame can't be thrown at him...I mean it's easy to use him as a scapegoat when somethin' seems off the wall (as that was his M.O. durin' his middle run in WCW)...the thing is Russo does answer to someone...that someone bein' Jeff Jarrett and Dixie Carter...
on the whole the writin' team of TNA needs a strong surge of creative ideas...right now their goal is lookin' to make money...somethin' a wrestlin' company is supposed to do....I talked about this in another topic somewhere on here so I won't rehash it...

I mean, he's not the best or anything, but atleast he seems more real on the mic than most guys. I liked his Hard Justice promo, too. Intensity in promos is always good if captured right.

Have to agree, Joe's promos are good but they aren't amazing either. He has improved from like last year were near on all his promos sounded like he was reading off a script, from time to time they still do. For me he's good but he's not one of the best either, as the best mic workers are those who can make the promo sound great, rather than some who just sound like their reading off notes or scripts in front ofthem...good example is people like HHH, Rock, Austin, CHristian, Edge etc they to me are good promo cutters and don't sound like their reading off scripts. Joes good though, but i'm still waiting to see if TNA have the balls to put the belt on him...

Rocky Maivia at first was SHIT...he was awful but he went a long way after a few years. Austin...is not all that good at cutting a promo, he fucks up a lot of the time, even stuttering and stuff...and there's no real depth or variation to whatever he said. He just got the crowd's hyped easily with "opening a can of whoop ass" and opening a can of beer as that's what people came to see lol

Ishy your right, Austin's promos are shaky, but there's comedy in them that makes up for the rest....Though I love him, but Taker's promos aren't always great either, but he makes up for it in the ring and just by his character alone.
IMO the Best promo guy in WRESTLING is the Rock, and there's none better on the mic that him. HHH and Heyman are close but not that close.
The worst are Batista, Cena, Carlito.....too many others to name lol, but those are just a few.
