TNA NOTES & NEWS ON POSSIBLE CHANGE IN DIRECTION, KNOCKOUTS SPINOFF SERIES, FORMER TNA STAR INJURED TODAY, GLOBAL IMPACT, KURT ANGLE & MORE
by Mike Johnson @ 4:32:43 PM on 2/2/2008
With the critical success of the Global Impact special, there's been a move internally to change the booking direction towards something more serious with a focus on competition and athletic personalities, but I'll believe it when I see it.
There's been talk off and on of giving the TNA Knockouts their own spin-off hour for the last two months. Apparently, talks are starting to become serious with SpikeTV, so it's looking more likely it could happen down the line. The original plan when the idea was first discussed was to tape the Knockouts series on Sundays of the Impact taping weeks prior to the tapings on Monday and Tuesday.
The Global Impact DVD will feature all six matches featuring TNA talent from the 1/4 New Japan Tokyo Dome (including the "fired" Christopher Daniels) with English and Japanese commentary, plus footage of TNA stars at different sites in Japan and a Jeff Jarrett interview.
Former TNA star Senshi was said to have suffered a knee injury in his debut appearance for New Japan Pro Wrestling today. I don't know much more than that, but he's been pulled off a second scheduled appearance.
TNA champion Kurt Angle will make an appearance on London this Thursday 2/7 at the Zavvi store in Piccadilly to promote the company's summer tour of Great Britain.
TNA will run house shows on Wednesday 3/12 in Aiken, South Carolina at the USC Convocation Center, Thursday 3/13 in Salem, VA at the Salem Civic Center and Friday 3/14 in Pikeville, Kentucky at the Eastern Kentucky Expo. Tickets for all three events will go on sale on 2/9.
For those who asked, Awesome Kong's manager is being portrayed by California female wrestler Cheerleader Melissa.
The Turning Point 2007 PPV will be released on DVD this Tuesday.
