Tate and I were discussing this last weekend, wrestlers who really do belong at the top but are booked in what one might consider "the wrong way" or given a gimmick that doesn't quite click. Edge in particular; he's wonderful as a heel, but he just is not the cocky power holding heel. To me Edge is the kind of Pillman crazy heel. I'd love to see him play out that character properly and really extend it. Cena was another one we discussed, a while back when he first came to RAW, we talked about a Dungeon of Doom style group of oddball/big heels like Big Daddy V, The Great Khali going against the modern Hogan-esque Cena, and then have someone reveal themselves as behind the group (Tate wonderfully suggested Kurt Angle, who I would've loved).
So yeah, agreements with these ideas? Other ones of your own?

I was thinkin' of this one last night while watchin' the blinkin' cursor...an early 90's heel Big Bossman...he had potential to be a mega-heel...and even had a cage match against Hogan...but the WWF were heavy on the heels at the time...Dibiase...Perfect...Rude...Savage...Andre...Earthquake...and Martel...so Bossman slid into the merchandise friendly world of being a face....

The late Eighties/early Nineties were chock full of examples that would fit in this thread, in my opinion.
Doink comes to mind. Face Doink, that is. Heel Doink I actually enjoyed.

Same here for Doink. I think Batista's gimmick needs to change. I mean it's nothing but a generic "big man" gimmick and shouldn't be used if you're trying to make someone stand out. I'm not sure though... maybe have him play the character as more cunning as opposed to just doing his usual overpowering routine?

Cunning? The guy has no mic skills to pull off a standout gimmick like that, he's atrocious, Rob lmao

Yeh fair enough. Just something more than what is a glorified "mindless thug" persona would be something.

He hasn't the skill for anything else...it's even annoying that he calls Flair his mentor...what DID he teach him, because it certainly wasn't wrestling or how to use the mic...

True enough. Maybe it was how to entertain women? Nah can't be that either. He can't even entertain fans...

Because the focus was off him lol...I cannot stand Batista at all, a useless addition to any roster.

Yeah, I even prefer Cena to Batista. I'd rather wear a John Cena t-shirt for fifty years than watch a Batista match.

LOL given the choice I'd rather sport a Naked Mideon Shirt (with out the censors) than a Cena shirt lol
HMMM....don't know whose worse Batista or Cena...I think I'd have to go with Batista. He has nothing.....he's nothing but, as Ish said, a generic big man....
