The biggest rumored news floating about the Ground Zero Gobal universe, more specifically GroundZero Wrestling 2K1, is that the fifth annual Hong Kong pay-per-view extravaganza known to the world as Heatwave will be headlined by recently returning former World Heavyweight Champion Vernon Vanderbilt against either GZG Triple Extreme Champion Jericho "Raze" Cross or current GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Champion Ring of Honor Icon Sean "Magic" Fiery. Cross and Icon Fiery have been booked to face each other at the upcoming Crimson "Born To Bleed" in a Four Corners Weapons match for GZW2K1's top title. Cross and Vanderbilt have a storied past together stemming from the time when Cross was debuting into the company while Vanderbilt and Icon Fiery have a mutual respect for one another. Tommy Casper was reportedly to be training with longtime GLORY fighter, Marcus Fortune, for his upcoming Heatwave V Barbed Wired match that will be contested under certain GLORY rules. The GLORY heavyweight veteran who specializes in Ground and Pound is the uncle of Casper through marriage.
Staying on the Corbin front, it is almost one-hundred percent certain that Ring of Honor Icon James "Monarch" Corbin has used his considerable influence (see pressured) over the Booking Committee to get them to scheduled him against his son-in-law, Vernon Vanderbilt, at the upcoming Crimson's "Appetite for Destruction" broadcast. As of yet there is no word on whether there will be an extreme stipulation for the match to stay with the them of the broadcasts while in Hong Kong on the Summer Heat Tour. Upon his return Vanderbilt had been very vocal about his disdain for the Corbin name and is hurt feelings when his husband, 2007 Lord of the Coliseum Leon Corbin, begin to use his birth name.
Hong Kong Wrestling Federation President and stockholder of GZW2K1, John Profit, has been very hands-on since coming into ownership of his GZW2K1 stocks in February of this year. Profit has successfully increased the ratings each month and is credited with the "rebirth" of the World Heavyweight Championship division, as it was his idea to place the strap on Icon Fiery. On the downside though, many, especially those in Hong Kong who wish to remain unknown, feel that Profit has basically abandoned HKWF to the throes of Fox Giovianni, his longtime executive assistant, and the whim of current HKWF World Heavyweight Champion Kid Kaos.
