I may just be a smark on a forum, but my opinion gotta count for something, right? I mean, I've bought every single GZW2K1 pay-per-view for the past year! And I have to say Hikari really does seem like the brightest young star on the roster right now. Every so often, I - The Smark Spark - can give an opinionated overview on a wrestler who seems to be catching my eye at any given moment. Feel free to post your own!
HIKARI
DRAW VALUE 7 Certainly climbing the ladder, huh? As we approach Aftermath2K8 things can only get better.
ENTERTAINMENT 8 Can only continue to improve, like I said. The fans certainly take notice.
CHARISMA 8 You won't forget Nemesis in a hurry. Always making her presence felt, adding that extra something to a match or segment.
BRAWLING 6 Can hardly compete with greats in this category like Nathan Williams or Bane, but a good lil brawler for her size!
TECHNICAL 7 Again, will never be a great like Sincere or Zachary Sharp, but certainly no slouch.
SPEED 9 One of the quickest in GZW2K1 right now. Wrestles with a great sense of urgency and lunacy! BRILLIANT!!
ARIEL 8 Has a very attractive aerial style. I would like to see it utilized more often without the GZW2K1 restrictions, like Eva did in the indies. If this happened she'd get a 10.
POWER 3 Well, y'know...
EXTREME 8 Not quite up there with the likes of Raide and Zander... but you never know where she'll be in a few years. Certainly the most extreme lady.
SEX APPEAL 10 Ding ding...
STIFFNESS 8 Pretty damn stiff, actually. OUCH!
SELLING 7 Does a good job of selling. No complaints here.
ATTITUDE 9 Super attitude. Well liked backstage from what I can gather. Keeps quiet and gets the job done.
SUPERSTAR LOOK 10 She's hot...
MENACE 7 I wouldn't mess with her...
MIC SKILLS 7 Can only improve as time goes on.
ATTIRE 10 Again, hot... I always enjoyed the goth/slut look. More slut please lol.
OVERALL 8
And there's my assessment of Eva Hikari - one of the brightest young stars in GZW2K1 right now. I'll continue to follow this career with great enthusiasm.

I'd like to see Eva Hikari challenge Kandi Fortune-Corbin for the Intercontinental title. It's widely felt that she is ready to move onwards and upwards, whereas Kandi has had to carry lacklustre opponents through matches for a title she has held for some time now. Book them against each other and problem solved. I think the two would work a very good match, perhaps even an entertaining feud. I'd like to see where they could take that.

Why? Just because it they are both women? It's true that Eva has sustained a weak TV division (before Icon Sincere and Vyper were thrown in) against the likes of Maggot, Sean Locke, and Desolate, but what has she really done to prove she is ready to jump from the W.C.E.K. Television to Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship? No knock against Eva, because I think she will be a great future star but in the present what does she bring to the table? Rarely does she do any type of televised promotion for the company and when she does it is strictly about her upcoming match. There is nothing wrong with that but in this time of mainstream wrestling the average fan wants to connect with the wrestler, know something about them other than the fact they are about to wrestle someone. Not to mention everyone knows GZW doesn't push anyone to the upper midcard unless they have some kind of story going for them that doesn't deal with in-ring action. And if they are pushed you can expect them to be interim champs/jobber to the stars.
I say let's see where she and Icon Sincere can take things while at the same time giving Vyper a good rub from both. I do agree that she should shed the TV title and soon. Hell, with the ferocity she has been displaying over the last couple of shows I wouldn't mind seeing her try her hand at the Extreme title. I bet her and Raze would tear some things up.

I suppose I'm an average fan? I'm not sure how I feel about Eva movin' up. Right now all she has is her looks. On the rare occasion she doesn't happen to be drinkin' coffee, and actually cuts a promo, it doesn't make me feel like watchin'. There's no point where I feel laughin' for her makin' a fool out of someone. There's no point where she actually outsmarts her opponent and come on, how hard would it be to outtrash some of the men she's been up against. Put it this way, if there was no pic on my monitor, I wouldn't watch at all. Potential is one thing, realizin' it is another. And what ever happened to good old fashioned wrestlin'anymore?

Christ almighty what a couple of fuckin sad sacks! You only like her for her looks? Some "fan", just go back tojacking it in your mother's basement. Eva has had 2 challengers that were not hopeless. Vyper is decent enough and is over with the crowd already, and Sincere... well, do I have to say anything more about him? Besides them, she has had a string of piss poor opponents and as for connecting, gimme a break. You can't connect with all of the roster members, there are plenty already that people can gravitate towards for that purpose. She seems to like playing the quiet, mysterious character, hence her not talking so much. And how do you know her not hyping PPVs et al isn't down to her not wanting to break kayfabe, something that you see less and less of these days? Kandi deserves a good enough opponent to go up against. If Sean Locke-someone who barely does anything for the TV title- can get a shot, why not Hikari? And no, not just because she's a woman. Grow up before posting again would you?

What the hell? You must be somethin' of a fanatic with a hard on for the woman with that outlook. Don't assume we all sit in our mother's basements jerkin' off because you do, man. Look, here's my problem with her. I know she's had some less than inspirin' people opposite her, and at that time, I was prepared to keep watchin' yet she's the same with Vyper, a guy so sickly sweet that you WOULD react to and as for Jung Lei? JUNG F'N LEI!! This woman needs a better pick me up than coffee if she can't get off her ass for him.
That's another thing. How can someone with that much caffeine in their system still be so lifeless? How can the Television champion hardly ever be on television? Why would a female wrestler given a chance to be great not have a thing to say? Alright, you're sayin' she's playin' the silent and mysterious gimmick...great, that works when you're 7 foot and can crush people before you even touch them. What message does an itsy bitsy woman send out by sayin' nothin'? She's the TV champion, she should be lookin' for ways to be all over the shows. She doesn't. I tune in and think it's a good thing if she's at least booked, knowin' she is "forced" to make an appearance. Gone are the days of a decent TV champion. The last time GZW had one of those was when Quake still graced our TV sets.
Digressin' though. Why move someone up when they are the same as they ever were and hardly seen on TV or when they are, it's the same speak and scenes you watch them in? Like I said, jerk, havin' potential is one thing, realizin' it is another. Progression sometimes means steppin' out your comfort zone.
On a more positive note, I think she needs someone in her corner to push her, maybe a manager or a tag team partner so she's on screen but with not so much focus on her as she clearly likes to blend into the background. And maybe not Raze. On paper, such a pairin' looks good but the chemistry they have on screen is stifled to pull it off.

By now everyone should have seen Heatwave V, even if you illegally downloaded it. With the W.C.E.K. TV title off of Eva where does she go now? Of course she can still have the one-off rematch against Vyper, the new champ., and I say one-off because I don't believe GZW will be putting the strap back on her. Will we continue to see her and Icon Sincere battle it out? I'm honestly at a totally lost of where she will go from here, especially if she isn't dropped into the Extreme division.
Thoughts?

Give her a 'No Sell' gimmick. Have her go through gruelling twelve hours matches and then shrug it all off without a sweat. It worked for Kandi Fortune-Corbin so it can work for Hikari.

You are an idiot - clearly.
I'm thinkin' that now they have the strap off her, there's no reason they don't just release her. I know it sounds a bit odd to say that but she obviously has no passion for wrestlin' so why keep her when she's not the one bringin' in the TV ratin' and there is promisin' talent like Tyler Primus hittin' the mainstream circuit? There are guys and gals who'd give their high teeth to be where she is and it's as if she is oblivious. She doesn't even know what's goin' on around her. Do you think she'd know what to say if you asked her who Seth Richards was or who the last five Lords of GZW were?
And where was she at the end of HW when the Kindred had Champa and Locke on their case? It's safe to assume she'd conveniently let Raze deal with his problem with Voodoo but where is that sworn allegience I saw on TV a few months ago where she professed her loyalty to Raze and Lord Corbin?(whoops! that's one clue for her if she's thinkin' to answer my earlier questions.) She's here only for the money to pay for her fake ass mental problems. Pretty but pretty fuckin' useless in the long run.
