Yeah yeah, great effort by everyone as always. Great matches. But anyway...
Unnngh... what is with all the damn swerves? You'd think it'd be a little unfair on the other competitors in this manner of contest to just randomly go throwing the likes of Monarch and Fiery in there. By my reckoning this needs to be looked at in the future. Set the brackets and don't change them. And Kandi in the final? I lol'd. It's a damn shame the likes of Eva and Rupert go out in the first round and that bag of shite once again gets pushed all the way to the end. A giant comet really needs to fall on her head.
Here's a prediction for you: once Aftermath is out the way, the likes of Fiery will probably conveniently retire again, satisfied with his glory-hogging ways. Monarch will bugger off from stealing the limelight until the next big event comes along. Kandi will squash everyone, and whenever she does lose she'll still be made to look invincible (she'd no-sell decapitation). And who will be the ones left to drag GZW2K1 onwards into Heatwave? The same ones who always work their asses off: Leon Corbin especially (baffled by the lack of entry this year), Raze, Eva, Rupert Martin and yes - even the highly consistent but forever mocked John Champa. With the exception of Leon - who is a powerful mainstay - these guys, despite their hard work all year, are forever sweeped beneath the rug when a Kandi or a Fiery comes along.
I could smell Monarch a mile off anyway. Why? Because he always happily comes along for some exposure in these big events. Every single fucking time. It's hardly a surprise any more. So he paid his dues in 1927 - who cares? People just sigh when Monarch makes a 'surprise' appearance. We'd much rather see a Billy Bond, or a Lord Deacon Kane.
Anyway, here is how I predicted every Lord of the Coliseum thus far.
2002
Prediction: Deacon Kane
Winner: Deacon Kane
2004
Prediction: John Taylor
Winner: John Taylor
2005
Prediction: Chris Cairns
Winner: Seth Raide
2006
Prediction: Leon Corbin
Winner: Jon Kellar (AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!)
2007
Prediction: Leon Corbin
Winner: Leon Corbin
2008
Prediction: Rupert Martin
Winner: Sean Fiery
Anyway... yeah. These opinions may not be too popular, but... well... the fan forums need some debate, so feel free to argue. Maybe you really liked the show. That's fine - I did too. Just the same usual headaches GZW2K1 gives me.
