There are rumors floating around that a former World Heavyweight Champion will be making his return to GroundZero Wrestling 2K1 at Aftermath2K8. The name that seems to be leading the rumor mill is that of 2004 Lord of the Coliseum “Lone Gunman” John Taylor. The former multi-time GZW2K1 World Champion has been seen numerous times lurking about backstage at several live televised events as well as at the GZW2K1 Coliseum throughout the week.
Sources state that many within the Command Suite feel that Aftermath2K8’s main event needs to be bolstered or altered due to poor acceptance since its announcement this week. Currently Rupert Martin will be challenging 2008 Lord of the Coliseum Ring of Honor Sean “Magic” Fiery for the GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship. It is believed that ideas are being pitched to insert United Japan Wrestling SuperHeavyweight Champion Kandi Fortune-Corbin or Ring of Honor Icon James “Monarch” Corbin or both into the match.
It is reported that former GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Champion Vernon Vanderbilt has signed a pay-per-appearance contract with GZW2K1. Although those in power have a very high opinion of Vanderbilt’s wrestling ability, it is his commitment to the business which draws a raised eyebrow. Not only is it a pay-per-appearance contract but it is rumored to be a very low paying contract considering the high profile that Vanderbilt commands.
Even though the official card for Aftermath2K8 has the Battle of the Lords match booked between 2005 Lord of the Coliseum Seth Raide and 2007 Lord of the Coliseum Leon Corbin, word is that Lord Raide is being extremely difficult with contract negotiations. It should be noted that Lord Raide is currently not under any GZG affiliated company contract.
The newcomer Munin has been receiving quite the buzz on the house show tour while the main roster has been touring in Mexico City. The diminutive Japanese woman has successful had matches against Asher Moore, Sean O’Gara, Kev Mania, and Eiji Nakano. She is set to make her main roster debut next week on Tuesday Titan in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Expect an influx of new talent to be brought up from Trouble Trax starting in 2009. Several have already debuted recently with Oogie Boogie and DeMarcus Sargent. Former GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Champion and Trouble Trax Head Trainer Tonya Glory was quoted as being “…quite pleased with the crop of new kids that have been cultivating their skills over the past year and a half…” and “…the future of the company [GZW2K1] looks to be in a very solid state.”
