Former Ground Zero Global Triple Crown Heavyweight champion Ring of Honor Icon James "Monarch" Corbin shot down any questions on whether he’ll be returning to a Ground Zero Global ring, specifically GroundZero Wrestling 2K1, by saying GZW2K1 President Seth Richards is “full of shite”.
Icon Monarch was interviewed by the Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald newspaper to promote his appearance on “Celebrity Superstar,” and the reporter brought up a comment President Richards said in January trying to make GZW2K1 seem hip and happening that the company hoped to bring back the Globalstar. “Pardon my French, but Richards’ full of shite because I was never in negotiations with GroundZero Wrestling 2K1 again,” Icon Monarch said. “Do I see myself getting back in the wrestling ring? I’m 43 years old. Do I want to be Nathaniel Davis? Do I want to be Nathaniel Williams? In the twilight of my life, do I want to be running around in my bloody underwear trying to injure people? Absolutely not.”
Icon Monarch said having a small children has changed his perspective to where it’s not about himself, but providing for his family. “(In-ring wrestling) was a stage in my life, a wonderful stage. Do I ever see it happening again? You never say never, but I don’t see it likely by any stretch of the imagination,” Icon Monarch said. “I’m putting together chicken nuggets that are shaped like dinosaurs for my kids and I’m watching goddamn ‘SpongeBob’ as opposed to sitting up at the gym, thinking about myself. I’ve just kind of moved on, and I don’t see it bloody happening."
