- WWE had been planning to break up Layla and Michelle McCool for months, going back to WrestleMania 27. They didn't do the LayCool split at WrestleMania likely because they wanted to focus on the match with Snooki after she agreed to wrestle. After WrestleMania, WWE went back to the LayCool split storyline and rushed it over the past month or so. McCool is leaving WWE on good terms and has been offered a spot on a likely second season of WWE Tough Enough as well as an office job. There's talk that McCool and her husband, The Undertaker, are looking to settle down and start a family.

In an update to an earlier report concerning CM Punk's future with the WWE, I have learned that a major issue in the negotiations of CM Punk re-signing with the company is the trademark of his name. As of now, Vince McMahon and the WWE don't own the name CM Punk. They would like him to sign over the rights to the name which appears to be a hold up in a quick agreement between both sides to continue working together long term.
It appears that CM Punk would like to remain with the WWE but wants to be sure he looks out for himself. As one source told me, "Punk knows that WWE is the secure place for him to be at this point in his career but is a smart business man."
CM Punk is one of the few wrestlers who was well established on the independent circuit and kept his ring name when being signed by the WWE. It is common the WWE gives the performer a name change so they do have ownership and rights to their WWE identity. Bryan Danielson's name being changed to Daniel Bryan is a recent example.

WWE star Triple H was interviewed by Kevin Eck of the Baltimore Sun at the recent "BA STAR" anti-bullying campaign red carpet event in Washington, D.C.
"See, here's the thing. I think a lot of people misunderstand what we're saying. When we say we're just going to be 'WWE' now and not 'World Wrestling Entertainment,' I think people think we're walking away from our core product. That's not it all," Triple H said.
"We just do so many things very well. We're a live event production company that does live events probably better than anyone else on the globe...We do live event touring probably better than anyone else in the world. We do merchandising and marketing as well, if not better, than anyone else in the world. There are abilities for us to take those core competencies and offer them to the outside world in addition to what we do."
Eck also spoke with Stephanie McMahon and former WCW champion David Arquette at the event. Arquette was asked about his infamous WCW title win, to which he said, wrestling fans were upset but anybody who was a lifelong fan like him would have a hard time turning down that opportunity to be part of wrestling history.

This is not a bad thing. He should have retired a long time ago if you ask me. His name keeps him alive in the business as well as his stupid WM streak. Another wrestler who's on borrowed time. Bye bye...

You're forgetting that the Undertaker was once upon a time one of my favourite wrestlers too, Rico. It's sad to have to see any of them retire but other than the occasional draw because they clearly have little faith in some of their younger stars, he has nothing left to offer as a character or as a worker. His best days are years behind him already. It's not fair on him nor is it fair to have the youngsters fall into his shadow at this stage in his career, if we can call it that anymore. There is not much else they can try and do with the character now either. Give him his last match, make it the best he can do and let him go out with a bang than this fizzling that has been happening for years already. That's what I'm saying.

I never argued that his best days aren't behind him, but its never good to see your favorite wrestler retire. The first wrestling match EVER i laid my eyes on was the Undertaker and some jobber, I instantly fell in love with the character and only watched wrestling because of 'Taker.
He was the reason I ever wanted to be a wrestler, the reason that I do anything involving wrestling is because of Taker. I think the only reason he has stuck around this long is to help with the younger talent. Remember, you don't have to give a person a win to "Put them Over" but he's also good for the lockerroom and he doesn't have to be on TV for that.
He's the last one around in the WWE that has faced the BEST of the last 3 generations of talent. All the big names in the last 3 generations has been in the ring with him. It will just be hard to watch him walk away from it, even though I know he must...
and I think when he does, so will I.

"I've been keeping family posted so I'm sorry for late responses. Regarding John's injuries, I waited 2see if Jomo wanted people to know....
"...yes John is having surgery right now for a neck injury. He went in positive and that made me smile. I will keep you all posted."

Kevin Nash appeared on The LAW radio show on Sunday night and spoke very candidly about his longtime friend Scott Hall's ongoing battle with substance abuse. The entire episode of The LAW can be heard at TheFightNetwork.com. Here is what Kevin Nash said about Hall's current state:
"These people will say things like 'you need to have an intervention’ or someone said 'you need to take Scott fishing without alcohol' and no one grasps the severity of what this situation is. This is someone that has been to rehab nine times and probably walked out three to four times. He's been in and out of hospitals for the last year and a couple of times – in Providence (for a recent independent show) – what happened was Scott took a really bad fall in his house and hurt his hip really badly and of course the promoter said Hall got off the plane in a wheelchair blah, blah, blah. I talked to Scott and Scott said 'I never miss a shot and I’m going to make this shot' and I told him he sounded horrible and he said 'yeah'. Somas are the worst thing for wrestlers and I think they've killed more wrestlers than anything. He took some of those and hadn’t taken those in a long time and had a really bad reaction…they put him up there for 72-hours and the thing is Scott has been through so many hospitals, so many psych wards, evaluations and so many rehab centers that Scott knows every catch phrase and he knows exactly what the psychologist wants to hear and we’re all workers – that's what we are and in 72-hours Scott is gone."
"He’s at a place right now where the peaks and valleys are so incredibly high and low and the last week he’s been at a level spot, his health is bad. I think he went in and saw some doctors and he’s not going to walk in and get a gold label of health and when you get news from doctors that your heart isn’t functioning so well, this isn’t functioning well and this isn’t functioning well and to get all that news all in one day he went into a semi bender."
"I can't make Scott Hall want to live, I can't make Scott Hall want to get better, I can't make Scott want to repair his relationship with his children, I can't make any of those things happen and the only one who can is Scott. When and if he does I will be the happiest person on earth. He always knows no matter what, day or night, if he needs me and really needs me or needs anything or anything of me or for him I will be there in an hour and he knows that. I can't be his therapist, I can't be his wife, I can't be his rehabilitation specialist but I can be his friend. I think he needs friends more than he needs people telling him what he has to do or not to do. Lately it’s like the ninth inning, two out, a full count and they’ve walked into the baseball game and sitting in their seat and telling us what’s been going on in the game – I've been doing this for 17-years with Scott, you don’t just jump into the game and tell me what he needs to do because you haven’t been here, you haven’t lived it, you haven't done that and Dana (Hall) has. A lot of people think she’s a crack pot but people forget she has two children with the man, that’s real flesh and blood and Cassidy and Cody are great kids and they deserve better but at the same time Scott – people think Scott's problem is he likes to get drunk and likes to take drugs and he's an addict and he's not – he has post traumatic stress and had several incredibly horrible incidents happen in his early youth going on to his adolescence and early adulthood and he has had things happen to him that he cannot get through."
"When you are trying to numb a memory that’s when you have a problem and you’re trying to forget something – that’s a problem. He’s not out being a rock star, he's making things in his mind go away because he cannot shut it off and does it for days at a time and then when he does think about it he realizes the problem is still there."

- Current RAW roster member Skip Sheffield, who hasn't appeared on TV since being injured in August of 2010 during Nexus' peak, wrote the following on Twitter about his status:
"First and last update here since so many of you have been kind to ask. Things have been extremely complicated with the injury and it was much more than just a broken ankle and leg. It has been the most positive experience of my life and I promise you I will return very soon bigger and badder than anything you have ever seen. Nobody is going to stop me from achieving what I have set out to do."

- WWE informed some of their business partners that The Miz will be treated as a top priority this year, so even though he lost the WWE Title, officials aren't looking to take away any of the focus from him. The plan all along was for John Cena to get the title from The Miz at the end of their feud.

- Chris Jericho recently spoke to IGN and talked about his future with WWE. Here are some highlights:
IGN: You had a bunch of your WWE comrades in the crowd (at DWTS) there cheering you on. That must have felt great.
Jericho: It was cool. And it's funny because at first there were going to be a lot more. For the first couple weeks there were a lot of people and then there wasn't for a while because I think when the ratings for the show came in, I think the WWE got in trouble a little bit from the USA network. Because having them be there was, in a sense, promoting the show that runs head to head with RAW. But it was nice. It was a great show of solidarity and support from my peers. And a lot of people ask "What do the wrestling fans think of this?" but there never really was anybody ball-busting me because from the very first week they felt I could do this. I almost kind of got too good too early. I think, like, my second week Quickstep – had I done that in week 6, I would have got 10's. But at that point in time you weren't allowed to give 10's. It was too early in the competition. I kind of consider myself to be a pioneer. Not only as a wrestler, but in rock n' roll. Because I'm the first wrestling guy and the first rocker who's done the show. And I think it tears down some of the boundaries there. I think you're going to see more rock stars and wrestlers do it because it's a great opportunity and it's a lot of fun. And it really does push you as a performer. And I think that's what you look for.
IGN: Well, that sort of feeds into my next question which is "when are you headed back to the WWE?" You said not until you can do something new with your character.
Jericho: I don't want to go back and do the same thing. And do the same character I was doing last time. You constantly have to reinvent yourself. It's kind of a strange analogy but I think you'll pick it up when I say it - I always consider myself to be the Madonna of wrestling. And what I mean by that is "constantly re-inventing yourself." Every album Madonna does, she morphs into new styles of music and new looks. And when you work for the WWE, you work 52 weeks out of the year and on TV every week. You can't look the same or act the same every week. It gets boring. And I think that's why I've had such longevity as a performer and was always the guy to watch because people wanted to see what I did next. I even did that on Dancing with the Stars. And you have to do that or else you become predictable. And that's the worst thing you can become when you're in show business.
IGN: I wanted to get your thoughts on Edge's retirement, which came as a shock to everyone.
Jericho: I think it's one of those things that a lot of people forget about wrestling, which is that even though it's show business it's physically taxing. I'm actually surprised that more people don't get seriously hurt in the ring. And I'm thankful that it doesn't happen. But Edge has been battling those problems for years and years and it was a shock and it's sad, but I look at the bright side, which is that at least they caught it before something more serious happened. Because this is a very physical, dangerous business and I think it gets forgotten with all the pomp and circumstance sometimes. So once in a while you get moments like with Edge where you remember just how real it is.
I mean, I hate it when people use the word "fake" to describe wrestling. Yeah, it's show business and it's pre-determined, but it's not like we have stunt men in there doing all our routines for us. You're out there really paying the price physically and mentally too. Edge is one of the greats and I'm sure he'll have a job in the WWE for as long as he wants. He's very smart. He understands the business. I'm just glad he didn't get seriously hurt and I'm sure he'll be involved in the business in a lot of ways from now on.

- WWEDVDNews reports that while WWE edited The Undertaker's use of "Ain't No Grave" and Triple H's use of Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" from the WrestleMania 27 DVD, they kept The Miz's video package that used "Hate Me Now" by Nas. It's interesting to note that Triple H's chairshot to The Undertaker at WrestleMania 27 was not edited off of the DVD that comes out today. Both Superstars were reportedly fined for the spot.

ya know, while the song "Ain't no Grave" is good for the Undertaker Character, I don't really like it as an entrance theme song.

- Rey Misterio, Sr. (Miguel Lopez, uncle of WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio) is scheduled to introduce a new Rey Misterio, Jr. at a CMLL live event on Friday, May 27 in Tijuana, Mexico. Misterio, Sr. has trained the young upstart and is said to have a lot potential. Rey Mysterio, the original Rey Misterio, Jr., has given the wrestler his blessing. Often times in Mexico, a famous wrestler will allow a junior to assume his persona in exchange for a percentage of their earnings. ~~ The Miami Herald, a legitimate newspaper, has an article about Zack Ryder's lack of push. SourceWith The Miz, Sheamus, Wade Barrett and John Morrison among WWE’s talent leading its youth movement, one is lost in the shuffle. Every week frustration builds as Zack Ryder is Raw-less. There are times he is relegated to backstage cameos, but it’s just not enough. As I sat in Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena watching the performer work with another underrated talent, Evan Bourne, for “WWE Superstars,” I was entertained, but also disappointed because Ryder would not be appearing on Raw again. I thought, “Are you serious bro?” In spite of his lack of TV time, The Woo Woo Woo Kid has kept his name in the spotlight using the Internet and the creation of “Z! True Long Island Story.” A new episode is uploaded each Thursday, and most of the promotion is done through social networking. Ryder’s show has become a YouTube sensation, with the first 11 episodes garnering more than 1-million views. Guests included WWE announcer Scott Stanford (spokesperson for the InviZible Jump Rope), Ryder’s dad, favorite wrestler John Morrison and various WWE superstars (the majority of time in action figure form). The likes of The Miz and John Cena show their support for Ryder and his show on Twitter. Now superstars and fans strive to be recognized as “Broski of the Week.” On the marketing end, Ryder’s first T-shirt has become a popular item on WWEShop.com. The savvy superstar drove sales by sending free autographed cards to fans who bought the shirt and tweeted a picture wearing it. The Zack Pack are still waiting for the company to release “Woo Woo Woo” headbands. The popularity of the Long Island native is evident on WWE programming each week. Signs in support of the superstar have popped up at live events around the world as chants of “Let’s Go Ryder” could be heard at arenas. The Zack Pack and the WWE Universe are sending a clear message. It’s time for the company to listen. Woo Woo Woo. You Know It. Check out Ryder’s highly entertaining “Z! True Long Island Story” on YouTube. • Follow him on Twitter @zackryder. ~~ As we previously reported, WWE Smackdown lead writer Michael Hayes will accompany Tyson Kidd to ring side for his match against Trent Baretta on tonight's edition of Superstars. The Wrestling Observer is reporting that WWE has seriously considered reviving the on-air manager gimmick for certain heel wrestlers who creative feel cannot speak very well and lack mic skills. The manager concept has helped many talents get over in the past, and Michael Hayes reportedly been brought in to help Tyson Kidd get over as a credible heel.
