Commentator Joshua Samson has spoken out against the proposed inclusion of Ring of Honor Icon “Lone Gunman” Lord John Taylor as a guest commentator at upcoming GZW2K1 Pay-Per-View event Heatwave Eight. Samson indicated in a recent radio interview that he doubts Taylor has the charisma to sustain fan interest over the traditionally three-hour-plus broadcast. Samson has been critical of Taylor’s commitment to the company in the past and as a result the two have never really seen eye-to-eye. Those within the command suite are said to be unhappy with Samson’s comments as they feel that getting Taylor on board is difficult enough as it is. The general consensus until now has been that Taylor will be receptive to the offer at the right price, though Samson’s recent criticism now casts a shadow over the entire deal. Should Taylor turn down the offer, look for Samson to be the fall guy and disciplined very publicly.
The rumoured relationship between Vyper and newcomer “One Taste” Poison is not sitting well with the booking committee. The two are in bookers’ bad books and have failed to be booked for any upcoming shows at time of press, which is particularly notable in Vyper’s case, lest we forget his most recent booking was a World Heavyweight Championship match. Both have no-showed a number of publicity appearances in recent weeks. The future does not look bright for either.
Recent whisperings of Quake headlining Heatwave Eight have been gaining momentum. That Quake never made it to main event level in his 2005-2006 stint with the company – despite being massively over with the fans and being crowned 2005 Wrestler of the Year – is still considered a missed opportunity on the part of the booking committee. The word from the top is that Quake will go over current World Heavyweight Champion Icon Nathan “T-Rex” Williams cleanly and move into a program with Lord Leon Corbin for the remainder of the Summer Heat tour.
Recent negotiations with Icon Justin Sharp about a once-off appearance at the proposed legends battle royale at Heatwave Eight have come to nothing, although Sharp has apparently expressed an interest in returning on a full-time schedule. Our source is unsure whether the company shares Sharp's interest.
A behind-closed-doors war is underway at the HotWire offices as Clancy McClean and Chris Cairns are each vying for top billing as guest editor of the magazine’s upcoming tenth anniversary special. McClean has stated emphatically that he will walk away from the project unless his name is given pride of place. Cairns was unavailable for comment.
