Legendary GZW2K1 Globalstar and self-appointed 2003 Lord of the Coliseum Bane had some surprising insights for fans this past Tuesday at a press conference taking place in Arizona, where Bane was cutting the ribbon for the grand opening of his latest 'Damn Good Sleep' bed and bedding superstore.
Bane claims that he never actually officially retired from GZW2K1 and that he was sleepwalking when he announced his retirement at a Crimson show back in September.
"I was sleepwalking when I made that announcement. Do you really think I would ever actually retire, far less walk out on a shot at the GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship? I had been watching a John Champa promo earlier that day, fell asleep due to the sheer boredom of it all, and then - whilst fast asleep - staggered out to the ring and announced my retirement. I suppose that's hard to believe, but these things happen, especially when under the influence of a John Champa promo. Basically, what I'm saying is that I'm owed a GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship match."
Bane - who made a surprising, TV-14 rated appearance at Anniversary Armageddon, says that his GZW2K1 in-ring competition days are far from over, insisting that he has unfinished business.
"There are still so many Globalstars who I haven't had a chance to work with. I've never faced Nathan Williams, for example. I'd like to work with some of the younger Globalstars, too, even if all of their names do escape me at the moment. And you all had better believe that, sooner or later - one way or another - I'm gonna get that lowlife piece of garbage, Gunman, in the ring so we can settle things once and for all. I don't care how many years it takes to corner that rat - I can't even think about retiring until I get the vengeance I seek."
Bane - who is famed, notorious and somewhat resented for his controversial 'three months per year' contract - claims to be gearing up for yet another big Summer run.
"I respect the likes of Lord Leon Corbin - a close, personal friend of mine - for keeping things exciting around here all year round. But the fact of the matter is that I am so popular and so in-demand that I can come and go as I please. I'm getting old and I can't stick around all the time. But I'm on the hunt for an opponent for Heatwave. I'm on the hunt for a GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship opportunity. And I'm looking to settle that old score I already mentioned. I still have a lot to offer the Globalverse... three months out of every year."
Bane then bellowed his signature catchphrase before tipping over the press conference table as he zoomed out of the room on his motorized bed. It should be noted that his bed sheets were adorned in the Heatwave logo.
