The Rules of Contest
Glory MMA promotes the spirit of competition. Those who challenge for titles must prove themselves worthy. Those who hold the titles must prove that they are the rightful champion.
To that end, Glory MMA operates a "Cycle" system, a series of matches across several events. The "Cycle" incorporates three weight divisions, both split into two distinct leagues.
1. Each Weight Class has one Champion, and a set number of challengers depending on division.
Heavyweight - 10 challengers
Light Heavyweight - 6 challengers
Middleweight - 6 challengers
2. The rankings are divided into two groups, the Fighters' League and the Champions' Circle divided like so:
The Fighters' League
1. The Fighters' League Cycle consists of a round-robin tournament with each fighter fighting their competitors once. Points are awarded thus:
Win - 5 Points at Heavyweight, 2 Points for other Divisions
Draw - 2 Points at Heavyweight, 1 Point for other Divisions
Lose - 0 Points
2. At the end of the Cycle, the winner of the league (or the top 2 in the case of the heavyweight division) will be promoted to the Champions Circle (see Promotion and Relegation below)
The Champions Circle
1. In the Champions Circle Cycle, which runs parallel to the Fighter's League, each fighter will have one shot at the Champion. If they win, they will be expected to defend the title against any remaining contenders.
2. Any Champion who loses the title will not be granted a rematch in the current cycle. They will have to earn that right in the Survival Challenges (see below)
3. Whoever is Champion after the challenges are complete will remain in the Champions Circle for the next Cycle.
Promotion and Relegation
To ensure constant fresh competition, the Champions Circle is never the same from one cycle to the next. The only man guaranteed a place in the Champions Circle in the subsequent Cycle is the Champion, the rest must win a Survival Challenge.
The following rules apply:
1. In the Heavyweight Division, the 4 Non-Champions of the Champions Circle compete in a tournament. The winner of the tournament is permitted to stay in the Champions Circle for the next cycle. The others are relegated to the Fighters League and replaced with the winner and runner up from the Fighters League.
The third space in the Champions Circle is determined by a match between 3rd and 4th place in the Fighter's League.
2. In the other divisions, the two non champions face each-other in a standard match, with the loser being relegated to the Fighters League, replaced by the winner of the Fighter's League.
The winner must then again prove himself worthy of keeping his place by fighting the runner-up of Fighter's League. If he loses, he too will be relegated to the Fighter's League and will be replaced by the victorious runner up.
3. The reward for winning the Fighter's League is to face the Champion last in the subsequent cycle, meaning that a win would guarantee a place in the Champions Circle in the next cycle.
4. By contrast, the winner of their respective Survivor Tournament will face the Champion first, meaning that if they win they will have to face all remaining contenders.
