there's a pretty cool article up on WWE.com about the "Era of Unification" after the Invasion, when they unified nearly all the titles.

- The Honky Tonk Man stated on Facebook that he is interested in assuming the Raw commentator's position for one night only while Jerry "The King" Lawler recovers from Monday's heart attack.
The WWE legend is the first cousin of Lawler, though the two have long had an unsteady relationship due to family issues. He addressed his relationship with Lawler: "Jerry and I have not seen eye to eye on the pro side of the business sometimes, but we buried the hacthet a few yrs. ago. I am what I am and he is what he is. He is my first cousin with our mothers who are sisters who are both passed on now. Jerry and I had a 100 matches against each other. We had a respect not as family but as professionals. He was a master at talking and in ring work. I myself copied his work. I can only hope he can be the King again."
- "Long Island Iced Z" Zack Ryder takes on Cody Rhodes on this week's episode of WWE Superstars on WWE.com. Other matches on the show are Justin Gabriel vs. Tensai, Santino Marella vs. Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox vs. Natalya.
- Eve Torres announced on Twitter Thursday that she is engaged to Rener Gracie, her boyfriend of several years.

Daniel Bryan appeared on 98.5 SportsHub in Boston this morning. Thanks to Josh (@clubberintime) for sending in this report from his appearance.
Bryan started off by talking about Jerry Lawler's heart attack on RAW this past Monday, and being in the ring at the time. He says he was in the middle of a chin lock and noticed that the crowd was looking away from the ring. He thought that there was a fight in the crowd, and first realized what was going on with Lawler when he went to the top rope. He noted that Lawler was very lucky, and the locker room was very concerned because they're like a close family backstage.
Bryan said that William Regal came up with the "Daniel Bryan" name, and he revealed that he made a list of names, including "Buddy Peacock."
He also discussed being a smaller wrestler in WWE, and said that he was lucky that he had ten years of independent wrestling experience before being thrown into a WWE ring. He noted that one of the best things about being out of the indys is that he gets a chance to shower after a WWE show, unlike wrestling in armory's and small halls.
The host brings up the necktie incident that resulted in his firing from the company in 2010. Bryan admitted that he was fired because it "wasn't PG." He defended himself, and said that he was told that they [Nexus] were told to go out there and give a "gang-style" beating. He said that he was new with the company at the time and didn't know the rules.
He is asked about the difference between "sports entertainment" and "wrestling." Bryan stated that the fact that WWE produces 8 hours of television a week, it just can't be wrestling. People would get bored by just 8 hours of wrestling, and he said that you need to throw interviews and storylines in there to give people a break.
Daniel Bryan revealed that he and CM Punk are NO longer vegans after being one for 2 1/2 years. He said that it was the hardest thing to find vegan food on the road.
The host talked about how much Andre The Giant used to drink, and that it doesn't seem like the wrestlers are drinkers like they used to be. Bryan told a short story about having a cookie eating contest in a lobby in Japan, and the old timers making fun of them and noting how much the times have changed.

WWE announced late Thursday that it was removing "dated and edgier" footage from its official website and media platforms, a day after co-founder Linda McMahon's political opponent used clips in an attack ad.
"To better reflect our current family-friendly brand of entertainment, WWE is removing some dated and edgier footage from digital platforms," said Brian Flinn, WWE's Senior Vice President, Marketing and Communications, in a statement. "Some of this footage has been misused in political environments without any context or explanation as to when it was produced. This damages the corporate reputation of our company. WWE is well within its rights to protect its intellectual property for fair use."
Flinn said the footage removal is not related to an ad released Wednesday by Rep. Chris Murphy, a Connecticut Democrat running for Senate against McMahon, which featured WWE footage while slamming her for allegedly off-shoring profits to avoid taxes and failing to provide health coverage for their performers. Rather, it is part of a re-branding effort.
While WWE held a PG-14 rating for much of the late 1990s and early 2000s when she was running the organization with her husband, Vince McMahon, its current content is rated PG or G.

- Twitter disabled Jerome "New Jack" Young's account Friday after the former ECW star posted a series of racially-charged messages earlier in the week blasting WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler. Shortly after news surfaced that the wrestling legend had suffered a heart attack on Raw Monday, Young told his followers to let him know if Lawler died so he can "piss on his grave."
