The post match attack upon Ring of Honor Icon James "Monarch" Corbin at Aftermath2K12 by Kaliban the Brutal and Killjoy was specifically designed to get Corbin off television so he could have hip surgery.
The obvious question is why Corbin would want to put himself at-risk if he knew he was going in for hip surgery. Corbin's reported attitude was, "Well, if I get hurt, I'm going to go under the knife anyway, so they can bloody well fix up any new injuries."
Sources say Corbin's surgery will be to fix the top of the hip joint. It's not a full hip replacement, but more than just "fixing a problem."
One of the likely contributors to why Corbin needs surgery is because he continues to do squats in the gym. Because Corbin is a fanatic about his exercise routine, it has caused wear and tear on Corbin's hips, especially at his age (49).
