If you've heard of "Mr Armbar" Burke, then it's unlikely to be for good reasons. The submission specialist has made headlines in wrestling circles not due to the titles he's won, but because of the bones he's broken. A trail of opponents with broken arms testifies to the effectiveness of his combat style, and now the Globalverse will have the chance to see that style up close.
GZG Online undertook a (tentative) interview with GZW2K1's newest signing:
1. So, Burke, now that the ink is dry how does it feel to be the newest Globalstar?
It feels wonderful to be back in the wrestling business after such an extended absence. And where better to make that return than here, among the so-called best in the business?
2. You've left a trail of broken arms in your wake on your way here, leading many to question GZW2K1's sense in bringing you in. What do you say to them?
Perhaps they’re right to question why GZW2K1 would sign a man like me. After all, would you want to step into the ring with someone who has a history like mine? Would you want to step into the ring with a man who you know has one goal, and one goal only - to break your arm? Of course you wouldn’t feel comfortable. Luckily for me, that sense of anxiety and discomfort radiating from my opponent is something I thrive on.
3. Given that controversial background are you worried about how you'll be welcomed by the locker room?
Not in the least, no. I am no stranger to being a locker room pariah, and I don’t expect that things will be much different here. If anything, I would relish their resentment. The more who want a chance to take me down a peg, the more victims willing to put their arms on the line.
4. Anniversary Armageddon saw the inductions of 4 new Ring of Honor Icons. Do you believe you have what it takes to join them one day?
Of course I do. I am already the best technical wrestler in this company before I’ve even stepped into the ring, and have the fullest confidence that it’s only a matter of time until my name is synonymous with GZW2K1.
5. Which comes first, sport or business?
Sport and business are one in the same for me. My business is breaking arms, and I do that through sport.
6. I suspect we can probably guess, but can you give some insight as to how you'll approach your debut?
I’m sure you can guess, and you’d probably be right. I don’t know who the unfortunate soul is to be yet, but I can guarantee they’ll be leaving with their arm in a cast.
7. Finally, do you have a statement for the Globalverse?
I am not a man to mince words, and when I say that I am coming to GZW2K1 with the intention of breaking arms, I mean it. My goal is not to cover myself in championship glory, but to inflict pain on those foolish enough to try and stop me. A great man once offered the advice to come not between the dragon and his wrath, and I advise the Globalstars to take that on board.
