I can’t believe you’re making me do this…..shit...
Surprisingly, there is an answer to this seemingly rhetorical question, in the form of Munin's coming from somewhere just out of sight.
Well lovely it has to be done at some point, so it might as well be done now.
Pushing her hand through her hair the raven haired beauty stood centre stage. From the elaborate velvet corset and lace skirt she was wearing it was clear she’d just come off the set of some promotional task. The small flecks of glitter clinging to her hair weren’t as uncommon as she’d have liked, but it backed up the theory. Her expression was haunted, a darkness dancing behind her eyes that she’d never lend a voice to. Chewing on her bottom lip, her hand drops to her side.
You know I’ve done some terrible things in the name of this business. Things I’ve accepted……ugly and twisted as they are, they are part of me. Part of who I am, what I am. Things that keep me up at night…….thing’s I’ve buried, burned and hidden so deep even the cryptkeeper couldn’t find them with a map. Grim as they may be, they were my dues to pay, my mistakes to make. I made them with the full judgement and consent of an adult to be able to say it was my call. See, that little fact makes all the difference. I feel no guilt at all about some of the things I did to Hayden…..either of those lying wenches. Beating up Leon and verbally tearing him a new one?
Shrugging her shoulders her expression made it clear that no matter what she had done to that man in the past, she felt no guilt over any of it. It was disarmed more than she could have guessed by the silver sparkle covering her.
Nope, not one tear shed, not one single fuck given. Munin though? That’s a new low for this business. For a world that’s constantly lowering the tone and taking it all…….that’s a big bloody accomplishment. So how can I beat up my husband, the father of my children, my soul mate without a second thought? It’s easy, he is and always will be a huge part of our business. Our relationship was born, created and cemented in the ring. He’s always been Leon the wrestler or trainer. Wrestling is as big a part of our relationship as anything else. Munin is different…….she’s my best friend, my sister. She predates the crowds and cameras. She existed way before titles and win loss records counted for anything. We had our own matches, our own battles with demons scarier than anything even the developmental roster could dream up. We’ve been in each other’s corner, watching each other’s back for decades………..It’s hardly a secret.
She smiles now, the ghost of the smile tugging at the corners of her lips. It was entirely humourless, cold as ice and just as deadly.
So of course it’s something that must be put to the test. Anything for the sake of the show’s buy rates right? Our menfolk aren’t playing nice so why not capitalise on the drama and throw the little women against each other? Ruin the only relationship this industry has never managed to get its slimy, soul sucking hands sunk into? Is that what the powers that be want from this? Heh, this right here is FUBAR. Munin is a great wrestler, one of the best of our generation. Wrestling her is always exciting, but there’s a big difference between friends sparring and throwing us against one another for the vague possibility of milking another level of angst from the Alex and Leon feud. I’m not happy about this at all, and I’m not even going to pretend to be. This is below the belt………..yet like the good little employee I am. I will do as I’m told.
Her elaborately styled hair was already destroyed beyond repair. Now it looked more like her usually messy waves. Letting her hand drop, she holds the camera in her hazel stare.
Hold the damn Camera! Here get this off me, damn robe.
Eva turns in time to see Munin fighting her way through a nearby drop curtain. Obviously coming from her own photo shoot, one that the photographers had yet to finish. She fought off wardrobe and fluttering hands with a vicious glare. She managed to look fierce even with the bright red glitter falling from her elegantly up twisted hair do. A small gold crown perches precariously on the side of her head, while the train of her red satin ball gown is hiked over one white gloved arm.
I've never seen so much fecking glitter in my life!
As she moves to stand beside Eva she brushes more red glitter from her pale bare shoulders. Suddenly very glad she’d been given silver the raven haired beauty sidestepped to give the younger woman’s dress space. That thing could have its own gravitational pull.
Good little fucking employee? Well I said we needed to give some camera time, but I didn't say we should fall in line and write a dirge.
Reaching Eva's side Munin drops the skirt of her skirt, and yanks off her crown and tosses it to the side.
Hello GZW, I'm sure it isn't a pleasure for most of you to see me, and you'll be happy to know that I don't care.
Her smile turns sharp for the camera, and her eyes sparkle with their typical dark amusement.
As my dear friend has made clear the powers that be have recently scheduled a playdate for Eva and I. We could speculate on why for hours, but in all honesty I could care even less about their reasons than I do about your opinion. The bottom line is, if you want us in the ring together that's fine. We'll put on a show you'll never forget, but...we'll do it on our terms.
Eva's eyes light up with understanding, her lips tugging into an amused smile. Munin's own eyes promise the Globalverse nothing but anarchy. The friends had been thrown a gauntlet, and now they would be making someone eat it.
It will be the greatest honor to step into the ring with the greatest female wrestler in GZW history, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that it is a night that no one forgets.
With two of the greatest female wrestlers of all time fighting it out for the IC title? Win or lose we both have too much pride in our work and too much respect for one another to let it be forgettable.
Munin looks to the woman at her side. Their eyes are a clashing of hazel and black, filled with a silent understanding deeper than most could ever know. It's a look of hope and determination, and their obvious unity a mighty wall of strength against the coming storm.
The question isn't whether or not we can handle it. The question is can you handle it GZW?
Both women smirk into the camera, Eva's darkness framing the blood red vision that is Munin, as the camera pans out.
