The scene open up outside a motel. This is certainly not the fanciest joint in the world. But sometimes when you live your life on the road you need a place away from all the fans and spotlight. There are a few cars in the parking lot but clearly vacancies are available and even some of the occupied rooms won’t be such for more than an hour or so.A motorcycle pulls into the lot with Tamer as the rider. He has his duffel bag slung across his bg. It has been a long few days and he just needs a place to lay low away from the peering eyes. As he dismounts his motorcycle a buzzing can be heard coming from his person,no doubt, another reporter is calling asking for him to comment on what has happened.
What would he even say. What could he even say. This wasn’t some short lived partnership that hadn't really work out. He’d known Kolic for over a decade, traveled with him, fought with him, lived with him for a time. He could still remember when Kolic met Kate and the first sparks started to fly. Or the way he would scoff or laugh at Tamer’s misadventures in the romantic world. This wasn’t easy and it wasn’t going to get any easier. There was clear rage but worse than that there was indescribable pain and loss.
Tamer took out the the small key and unlocked the door. However something caused him pause. His instincts told him something was wrong. Slowly Tamer slipped bag from his shoulder to the ground. He moved to the side of the door and lightly pushed it open. As the door swung in there was no indication that anything was wrong. Tamer sighed and shook his head. Maybe these last few days were really getting to him. As he walked into the room and flicked the light on his eyes shot wide
“You may be losing your touch lover”
There she was the woman who told him she didn’t care only a few days before his best friend and brother smashed a chair into his skull. Eve, lying on his bed as if nothing was had changed
“What are you doing here?”
“I saw what happened, I was worried-”
“Can’t worry about someone you don’t care about, so why don’t you go.”
Tamer reaches out of the room and grabs his bag then steps to the side and motions towards the open door. Eve frowns at him.
“I… The things I said. I didn’t mean. Look I was upset and I’ve had a lot on my plate. You complicate things further. I was trying to uncomplicate them”
Tamer shakes his head and closes the door behind him
“Well now you can see I’m fine…. My head hurts, I’ve got some nice bruises. But I’ll live”
Eve slides off the bed to her feet and walks slowly to Tamer with a feline grace
“Don’t.”
Eve puts a finger to Tamer’s lips
“Hush.”
She slowly runs her hands down his arms. He winces ever so slightly as run across a particularly gruesome bruise.
“I can’t believe that Kolic would.”
Tamer’s jaw is set. He will not give Kolic the satisfaction of showing his pain and definitely not to this… What was she even. He cared so much for her, maybe even loved her. But after the things she said, the hurt she caused him. Then again after what happened with Kolic did ny of that matter? She was here now. And he needed someone anyone he could trust or feel safe with even for a moment. But he shouldn’t.
“Well, He did. Just liked you said what you said. So Mayb-”
“Stop it. I made a mistake. I’m not as perfect as I pretend to be.. I’m close though.”
She winks at him and smiles. He’s not having it. He doesn’t even respond. He looks over at her hand still idly running down his arm.
“I...I-”
“You’re okay… It’s bad. It’s very bad and it’s only going to get worse. But right now… Right here in this moment. I’m here. And tonight I’m yours. So hold me, wrap me in your arms, get lost in me for a night.”
Tamer’s lip is quivering and a tear escapes his eye and runs down his cheek.
“He...And now-”
“I know…”
Eve takes his face in her hands and pulls him in for a kiss. As their lips meet tears start streaming down his face.
“Let it out.”
His tears are met by hers
“I am so sorry for what I did”
Tamer wraps his arms around and pulls her in close. He never thought he’d see her or touch her again. But here she was in his darkest hour. Her body against his. He was going to cry more. So was she. He would expose himself perhaps more than he should to her… But he had too. And she was there for him. No other reason. On this night she was there to take on some of that burden. To help him work past it. To be his and only his for at least this one more night. when morning came and the sun rose reality would wash in with the light.
For now they had the night. They had each other. That was enough
