Standing in the underground parking lot of the GZW2k1 Coliseum leaned against a wall dressed in khaki shorts and a plain white t shirt is the former dual champion Alex Cross. Several people pass by the former champion to walk into the coliseum but he ignores them and instead focuses on the cigarette he holds in his hand. The smoke rolls from the tip of it as his eyes lock on the red glowing embers. A voice brings him out of his trance as he looks away from the cigarette and up in the direction of the voice.
"Hello stranger."
Munin stand a mere few feet away from him. Decked in her typical jeans and t-shirt pre-show attire. Her long black hair pulled up into a high pony tail, and a faint smile gracing her lightly glossed lips.
Hey to you too.
He drops the cigarette on the ground and rubs it out with his right foot.
How ya been?
"I'm doing fine, though it would be nice to see you in person more often. You know verses on a T.V., but then that's the kicks in this business isn't it."
The last part is said more as a statement, and despite her blunt words there is no venom in her tone. Alex can't help but laugh as he nods his head.
Tell me about it. Seems like forever ago we actually spent some time together. I'm sure Travis has taken notice of that little fact as well, not like it isn't obvious.
"Well we still eat dinner at the same time, train at the same time, and watch Supernatural at the same time. I guess we're just creatures of habit. I can't but notice that my name has been leaving your mouth in promo rather frequently lately."
Alex rubs the back of his neck in an uneasy fashion.
You've noticed that huh? It's nothing personal Nin only business. If I want to be taken seriously then I have to be ruthless in everything I say and do and unfortunately that even includes affairs of the heart.
Munin's smile sharpens slightly but doesn't dim.
"I think I understand all to well. Just be careful that you don't take your affairs of the heart down roads you would rather not go. It's a common hazard in this company, good luck."
Without waiting for a response Munin slips back into the crowd heading into the arena. Alex watches as the young woman vanishes into the building. Once out of site he reaches back into his front left pocket and pulls out a pack of cigarettes and lights up another one before replacing the pack. A small bit of smoke comes from his mouth as he shakes his head.
Fuck!
He throws the cigarette in anger before turning and walking into the building.
