It was a usual busy day at the Corbin Academy, the multiple rings around the huge hall were full of students going over the basics until it became second nature to them, the trainers as firm as they were fair and Leon taking a good look at the progress with a careful eye. The World champion walks through, catching the glances of some of the students in awe of the fact such a high profile name would just walk past them like it was the norm.
“I'll be out most of the day so direct all of my calls to my cellphone, Ms. Taylor.”
Walking into the huge hall, cellphone attached to her ear, is Devotion Profit-Lord. Dressed in a smart business suit, the blonde GZW2K1 Vice-President listened intently to the reply from the other end of the line.
“That's fine, Ms. Taylor. Goodbye.”
With a touch upon the touch screen, Devotion ended the call to the long time executive assistant of the Command Suite. She slips the phone into her Prada purse and gazes about at the bustling activity. Leon stops, walking over to one of the trainers and has a word with him that was inaudible to anyone else, emphasising his words with a little pointing. With having received a nod of acknowledgement from the trainer Leon places a hand on his shoulder and keeps walking.
Devotion: Not bad, not bad.
She spoke to herself as she walked past one of the rings. The youngest daughter of John Profit was now beginning to be noticed by those that were aware of who she truly was. Hearing the raised voices, Leon stops in his tracks and nods.
Icon Corbin: She finally made it inside then.
He'd known about Devotion's presence. You couldn't just walk in and browse the place like it was a shop after all and he had already given the receptionist the all-clear to allow the GZW Vice President entry. He turns around, making his way over to the woman he'd once had a good relationship with.
Turning from gazing upon the activity in the ring, Devotion smiles, genuinely or not is unsure, upon seeing the approaching Ring of Honor Icon.
Devotion: Leon.
He nods.
Icon Corbin: Teresa.
Devotion: Interesting little school you have here, Leon. You should be quite proud.
Icon Corbin: Oh I am. I'm very proud. I have some really promising talent coming along.
He returns that earlier smile. Whether it was genuine or not, there was no way to know.
Devotion: So I have read from the scouting reports. I would expect to see quite a few coming to Trouble Trax very soon.
Icon Corbin: Perhaps. So what brings you here? It's not exactly in South Ken where you can buy Prada. You've gone out of your way to come here.
The wife of former HKWF Globalstar Mychael Lord instinctively clutches her Prada bag to her.
Devotion: Since everyone has been raving about this place and I did allow your students onto the Storm broadcast, I felt it was only right that I pay a visit.
Icon Corbin: Of course. And they haven't stopped raving on about it. Though they were disappointed that they couldn't keep their seats after getting involved thanks to Alex and his stupid fucking antics. Still, it did them good to be that close to the action.
Devotion: Yes, I'm sure. Speaking of Alex...
Her attention is drawn away as in the ring beside them one of the students receives a ring rattling body slam.
Icon Corbin: What of him...?
She returns her attention back to the eldest child of her boss.
Devotion: There have been some concerns concerning Heatwave Twelve.
Icon Corbin: What concerns?
Devotion: The Executive Committee feels the Highway to Hell match might be too....extreme.
Icon Corbin: On what grounds? And since when? The Highway to Hell match is not a prohibited match stipulation and in Hong Kong, it's exactly what is good for business.
Devotion: Well as you clearly know the roster is a tad bit on the slim side and the committee feels that if you, Alex, or both of you are hurt for any considerable amount of time it would not bode well for business.
Icon Corbin: On the contrary. There is too much heat going into this, Teresa. He wanted this match so bad and has already cried about me pushing it to Heatwave. To change it now would not only bring his morale down but piss off the fans who have been disappointed once already. Besides, we both know the risks going into a match like this.
Devotion: I'm sure Alex's morale would hardly be affected but if the match were to be changed I will handle Alex. As far as the fans, they will be satisfied regardless of what type of match that they receive. We dictate to them, not vice versa.
Icon Corbin: Only a fool would believe that. Besides, what is your contingency then? What would take place instead? Of course you know that any match between us now could turn as nasty as it would in a Highway to Hell...
Devotion: There have been some stipulations thrown around but nothing decided on yet. Of course if or when the match changes you will be notified well in advance.
She looks back into the ring again before looking back at the 2007 Lord of the Coliseum.
Devotion: As far as any other match being as violent, there are ways to insure that it doesn't get out of hand.
Icon Corbin: Do you think rules are going to stop anyone? The moment that bell rings, the gloves are off. You know that. You people have allowed that so why bother trying to clip our wings now?
Devotion: Because we are running a business, a successful one at that. Why would we want to risk two highly valuable commodities for a short term payout?
Icon Corbin: If that was the case then why have you allowed this idiot James No one in with heavies to bolster Alex? That pointless piece of muscle could have injured me. He didn't know what he was doing and was real close to taking me out. Alex has also spent the past several months trying to injure me. Hell, someone even sabotaged the cell so we fell through, which could have ended not one but BOTH of us. In fact, you have Clan Mayhem running wild WANTING to take out commodities and nothing has happened to stop them on an executive level. Seriously, what is this really about because this match at Heatwave isn't it? What are you all so concerned about?
Devotion: As I have stated, the committee is concerned about the possible long term impact a Highway to Hell match will have. There has been no decision as of this time and since I was here I just wanted to extend that bit of information to you since you are the World Heavyweight Champion.
Icon Corbin: I suppose I should thank you then...
The former manager notes the sarcasm.
Devotion: None needed.
Icon Corbin: Mm. Well, I trust you'll inform Alex. Just make it clear this has NOTHING to do with me.
Devotion: I will indeed make it crystal clear that you had nothing to do with it.
A devilish smile crosses her highly lipstick glossed lips.
Devotion: I should really be going. Your father really hates tardiness to his meetings.
Icon Corbin: Funny that. He's always late to family gatherings.
She can only shrug at that reply.
Devotion: Have a good one, Leon.
Icon Corbin: Teresa...
With that, Leon nods once more and turns to walk off in the direction he'd originally intended.
