Trystan: How are you doing?
It wasn't long after the London show had gone off the air and the GZW official made a point to come and check on the first Lady of the Coliseum who had taken considerable damage at the hands of Clan Mayhem. He closes the door behind him, his eyes never leaving the sight of Eva Hikari being seen to by medical professionals. Every breath hurt her badly bruised ribs, though that hadn’t stopped her fighting and arguing with the medics around her. Her neck had jolted quite badly with the clothesline, and the fact that she had been knocked out was apparently cause for concern. She really was the worst kind of patient for anyone to have to deal with. She was trying though, or she thought she was. She’d showered without permission and was now sitting grumpily in a vest and jeans. Her long hair was wet and dripping steadily, her lips pursed in a small pout. Her head was pounding and she was wearing that bloody awful collar again. Glaring at Trystan, or as best as she could manage without being able to turn her head she attempted to shuffle into a more comfortable position . It got her a tap on the arm from one of the more senior medics.
Eva: Meh sums it up…..Have you seen the others?
Trystan: I've seen them leave so I consider them well enough. Besides, it's you I'm worried about.
Laughter hurt her, though it took doing it to realise. Swearing through gritted teeth in a way that proved her second language was the abusive kind, she regained her composure with barely a flicker.
Eva: Sweets, you worry far too much. I’m fine, this is all precaution.
Trystan: You know me better than that and I know you pretty well too, I'd wager.
The way he tipped his head and pulled his lip to one side could have been misconstrued for him being patronising and maybe if it had been someone else it would have been but he softens, walking over and eyeing the medic treating her.
Trystan: So, what's the damage?
The look the young woman aimed at the medic might have been threatening if he didn’t know her too. Pocketing the little light he’d been attempting to shine into her eyes, he clears his throat as he steps out of the room.
Eva: Bruised ribs, possible concussion, though to be fair my head feels fine. They have to check my neck before I can leave. It’s in my bloody contract. I hate this stupid collar though…..it makes me panicky.
Trystan: Because it's restrictive?
Eva: And itchy and reminds me that last time I had to wear the sodding thing was when I couldn’t walk.
Tugging at the offending collar she’s rewarded with the slight tear of Velcro. Like a naughty child she dropped her hands to her lap, her eyes turning towards the door. With nobody likely to tell her off in sight, she turns her attention back to Trystan.
Eva: How are you anyway? How was your night?
His eyes narrowed, an indication that a little Velcro was all she was allowed as far as removing the collar went as he steps over and takes a seat next to her. He sighs quietly, resting his forearms on his thighs as he leans forward and turns his head to face her.
Trystan: A mess really. I'm not much of a fan of the big matches that the TV title was defended in. I can do them but people really try to use the fact I need to split my attention in so many directions as a way to take advantage. That's fine but when they are blatantly disregarding the rules and then slap ME in the face for it, I get a little more than ticked off. I was speaking to Dark afterwards. He thinks I should escalate the matter as it was assault on an official and that is not allowed. Uncanny accidents are one thing, you know? But a slap because Piper has a bee in her bonnet about...well...nothing at all, really, I will not condone.
Eva: Aye? So what you going to do about it?
Trystan: I don't know. She thought she was playing games but didn't think them through. I called her to find out just what on earth is going on and she tried to pull the badguy crap with me too. I tried to show her how unprepared she really is and somewhere she has taken it as me threatening her. Can anyone be that dense, really? She really thought I wouldn't call the match down the middle. By rights, I should have stopped the match the moment she hit me but I wanted to see it go to some conclusion and not give the others the chance to say that she deliberately had herself disqualified. Girl has a LOT to learn though and I don't think she ever will. Not while she is has this whole holier than thou thing going on.
Eva: Pip’s always been holier than thou…just like her pals.Just an observation though, no offence meant or anything. It’s not like you find that whole wannabe worshipped thing hot.
Twisting her hand in her hair, she twirls it up into a bun which she secures with a stolen pen. They were always stolen pens in her world. Her back was damp where her hair had attacked it, she’d have to change again once she got the all clear. Scratching at her collar she was careful to avoid the Velcro.
Trystan: No, not really. To be honest, there are hardly any traits that could be considered attractive when it comes to wrestlers. They all seem to leave a bitter taste in my mouth.
Laughing childishly, it ended with a wince. The young woman was still smiling despite the pain in her chest.
Eva: If that was a bad pun, well played. If not then, agreed entirely but still…..heh well played.
The penny drops for the former CSW champion and if a tanned face could go red, now was the time.
Trystan: Oh good god...
Nudging him with her elbow she laughed harder still. He’d been friends with Leon for long enough to not be embarrassed by anything by now, surely.
Eva: Sorry love, I’ll be good.
Trystan: No, it's fine. You just caught me off guard is all. Not a joke I thought I'd hear from you considering...well...you know...
Eva: Until Leon I steered well clear of wrestlers too. There only so much ego a relationship can take after all.
Trystan: And he's got more than enough for everyone...
Eva: So have I when the whim takes me love. I’m no better than he is, I just mask it better.
Trystan: Maybe but you are nowhere near as unbearable, eh...
Eva: I don’t know about that….
Scratching at her collar she moves her head, attempting to loosen it, just a bit. He doesn't miss a beat though and his hand is already on hers as an indication.
Trystan: Please, be careful.
Eva: I’m always careful…..and this bloody thing is annoying as hell.
Trystan: I know what careful means to you, Eva...I'm just saying.
Pouting in his general direction like the petulant child she very often was, she lets her hands fall to her lap.
Eva: This is insane…..I get beat up for a living, yet any indication that my head or neck have been jolted and they jump on me. What’s the point? I can’t take the huge bumps or risks anymore, at least not of my own accord. It’s all fine when Mayhem are throwing me around though…….I dunno…
Trystan: But you're usually okay until that point. Now you're feeling that strain, it's better not to aggravate it until you've rested and feel back to normal. Which I can totally see you're not just yet.
Eva: Did you say you’d seen Leon and Munin?
Trystan: Leon, no. Munin I think I saw heading for the exit but I just assumed she'd had enough for one night and might have been annoyed at her boyfriend who seems to be doing a grand job of wrecking their relationship for his pursuit of fool's gold. Tamer, I really don't know. I can't imagine him wanting to stick around but I can't be too sure.
Attempting to nod, she eventually closes her eyes. Her hand clenched and unclenched and she fought the urge to rip off her collar again. Opening her eyes onto him she attempted a smile.
Eva: Why do all my friends fall into crap relationships? I’ll have to catch up with Nin later. I’m staying out of her business, but if she gave me the nod I’d twat the bloke without a thought.
Trystan: You and just about everyone else, I reckon.
Eva: Aye well. She likely thought the same about Leon at one point. And I know I’ve felt the same about Joy. People are stupid…….with three o’s.
Trystan: So people just need to wait it out with Cross? This is a business that forever holds a grudge. At this rate the World title is all he'll have to live for and from what I've heard, it's not so glitz and glamour at the top.
Eva: Pfft, it IS fool’s gold. Looks amazing from afar then you get there and it’s cracked and broken, quite ugly inside that limelight. If that was all I had to live for, I wouldn’t be living long.
Pushing herself off the table she’d been left on, she landed soundlessly on her bare feet. Shuffling over to her bag she returned with a white paper bag. One of the more enduring habits she’d picked up during her pregnancy was a taste for sweets.
Eva: You must be knackered after tonight. You know you don’t have to stay around right? I appreciate you being here, but they’re waiting for x-ray results. They suspect I might have cracked something……It could take a while.
Trystan: I'm fine, really. And I don't mind waiting around. Besides, it might be better I'm here in case Clan Mayhem try to take a shot at you. They have a knack for shelving champions after all.
Eva: If they wanted to get to me they would regardless. Besides we’re off the clock, that’d be assault and even they can’t be that daft.
Trystan: You might be giving them too much credit, Eva...They don't seem to have that thing most possess called a conscious and they really don't seem to give a crap about what they do or who to.
Squishing a gummy bear between her fingers, she yanks his head off before popping both parts of it in her mouth. Letting her eyes sweep she room, she was running out of patience. He eyes her and then stands to his feet using his thighs for leverage.
Trystan: You look as if you'd rather be alone right now. If that's the case, can you promise me you'll lock this door after I leave?
She let her attention rest with him, she was weighing something up. Looking through him and at him all at the same time, she seemed to make up her mind. Before he had time to react she’d ripped off her collar and dropped it onto the table.
Eva: You wanna lecture me, do it in the car. I’m done with this arena, this city and this bloody sock smelling room.
With her back to him, partially to avoid the death glare he’d be giving, partly to avoid giving him an eyeful, she slips out of her damp vest and pulls on a t shirt. It was a movement that would have made the medic’s eyes bug out of his head. It had when she’d put her vest on originally. Throwing on and zipping up her hoodie, she picked up her bag. Her results could be texted to her, if they weren’t in by now it was clearly nothing too bad.
