It's Hong Kong, and the Heatwave is on. Literally, it's sweltering outside, and even shorts and a t-shirt might make one overdressed. Not for Kolic though, he grew up in Georgia summers and can take the heat. The camera finds him standing in front of an unidentified building just outside Kowloon Park, set up to his side to catch workers setting up the area where the annual slaughterfest will soon take place.
Kolic: I gotta say, things went far better than expected at the end of Battlefield: London. A win's a win, and watching the GZW vanguard break down is a great bonus, but then to watch the hissy fit between Alex and Leon be the story of the day? Priceless. "I stole the GZW heavyweight title!" "Hah, I knew you would, so I switched it out for a fake!" "Nuh uh, this is the real one!" "Yeah huh!" I fully expected one of you to throw out the "I'm rubber, you're glue" defense. I mean really, if this is the best the company can come up with, then I'll achieve my goals without even really trying. Hey, maybe next you guys can have a big knockdown, drag-out fight about whose girlfriend/wife is hotter. Oh wait, heh, I guess Alex loses that fight automatically. You sure did win the physical fight with Munin though, huh? Don't worry, I won't call you out for beating up a girl since she did strike first and, well, she's Munin. Still...it says something that you're more willing to strike down your supposed lover than your in-ring opponents.
Maybe it's a touch of the crazies? Something that GZW infects in all of its employees? It sure would make a lot of sense. Some of us, like Alex and perhaps myself, break psychologically and strike out at those closest to us. Sure, we have our reasons, but those are the facts. Others, Locke and Vitamin G perhaps, show up to save the day and back out when things get too rough. Maybe they have the most sense of us all. Then there are the "elite" class, those so completely turned by the infection that they prosper and seek to turn as many as they could. Yep, those would be the Corbins. Have you ever noticed how much they talk about wrestling "being in their blood", how they've "given their souls" to the business? I rest my case.
He leans back and crosses his arms.
Kolic: Seriously though, professional wrestling does change all of us. Some for the better, but most for worse. But GZW though...there's something different about it. The good guys sometimes win, but the evildoers never lose in the end. It's a race to the bottom, plain and simple. So you see, Eva, this is where we have our major disagreement. From your perspective, you've invested so much of yourself in this place that you'll defend it to your death. From mine, I see an organization that corrupts everything it touches, and trying to fix it from the inside didn't work. That's why you can't understand why I'm not pushing the feud with Tamer to be the main event at Heatwave. I don't want that. GZW has to end, or it will keep ruining lives for the sake of entertainment. That's why I "joined" with Clan Mayhem, a group of unknowns whom most see as not being up to GZW standards. If they can cause such a disruption, how does it make all of you look? Pretty bad I'd say. It's also why I've been so absent from GZG 24/7. Why waste my energy promoting a company I want to destroy? Why hype a feud to get viewers to watch if I don't want their dollars going toward GZW's bank accounts? Now that's just illogical. Now Eva, that doesn't mean I don't sympathize with your situation. The business did, after all, give you your loving family. That's why I've done all I could to keep this from being personal with you or anyone...as much as it can be when one's livelihood is involved. Maybe this is for the best though, you and Leon will certainly have more time at home with the kids at least.
He looks up and to the side, then chuckles.
Kolic: Oh dear, you got me on a roll, I've already said more than I want about this accursed company. I guess I needed something to do since I'm not scheduled to wrestle at Titan. Who knows, maybe I'll skip the show and do something fun on this trip besides unpack, fight, and repack for the next flight. Wouldn't that be a nice change of pace? You guys have fun tearing each other up in the pursuit of earthly gains. That's just not my thing anymore.
