Dressed in blue jeans and a solid green polo shirt tucked in was the former dual champion Alex Cross. He looked at the cellphone in his right hand as he shook his head from side to side. He paused for a moment and took a deep breath before dialing a number and placing the whole to his ear. Judging from the look on his face it was obvious the time seemed like an eternity as he waited for someone to answer, only to get an answering machine. He let out a sigh, as if relieve he only got the voicemail.
Hey buddy it's Alex. Look Travis I know we haven't talked in a couple of months and I'm sure your mom has said some pretty nasty stuff about me and what happened between us. I just want you to know that I still care about you and your mom.
He paused for a moment as he forced a tear away from his right eye.
Hey! Happy birthday buddy! Congrats on turning thirteen, guess you're a man now right? Maybe it's time we talked about what kind of car you want huh? Be good okay and I'll try and check in with you later, maybe we can hang out when the summer heat tour is over. Take care.
He ended the call but his eyes remained locked on the screen of his phone. His eyes closed for a moment as if taking it all in before opening them back up and tossing the phone on the nearby bed.
It'll all be worth it in the end I know it.
His gave turned to the World Title resting on the nearby dresser.
Soon it'll be over and things can be normal once more.
He walked over to the dresser and stared at the title as he pulled the top drawer out and reached in, pulling out a small box. He flipped the top open to reveal a beautiful ring.
She's got to understand that their is no me without her.
He closed the ring up and gripped it tightly in his right hand.
But until I can beat Leon to death in the center of that ring and walk out the official World Champion...
His voice trailed as he thought about his words.
Until that happens I can never be happy, with or without her.
Without another word he slipped the ring back into the drawer closing it behind him and leaving the room.
