A simple traditional tea cup was silently slid onto the equally simple wooden table. The server expertly measured out the rich green leaves that were one of the true treasures of china, and poured the perfect amount of steaming water with equal care. Munin needed this silent ritual, this peace that simplistic tradition could bring. She nodded her thanks to the server before he took his leave, and patiently waited for the tea to steep. Her appearance showed no signs of her previous sparring session with Keller have been washed away. Replaced with perfect make up that accents her large exotic eyes and makes her lips a striking red against the back ground of her pale face.
She had traded her training attire for a soft grey modern business kimono, sleek and simple by design with classical elegance. Her hair is twisted up into a simple French twist and decked with an antique ivory and jade comb. Yes, it was nice to lose yourself to tradition...at least for a short while. Perhaps her earlier confrontation with Keller helped her more than him...for now at least. Afforded just a sip, the door opens for another customer looking to escape the bustle of the typical marketplace environment outside. Looking as out of place as a Caucasian with pink hair could be in Hong Kong the staff still greeted him with a smile. Either they knew him or could sense a foreigner to be exploited. The moment the world champion began ordering in Cantonese, it was clearly the former. He looks around casually as he waits for a moment, spotting the Asian beauty indulging in the rarity of peace and quiet.
Icon Corbin: Do jeh...
With that, he wanders over to the table occupied by the 2013 Lady, his smile still intact.
Icon Corbin: Hey you...
Drawn out of her thoughts, Munin looked up in surprise at the greeting. A welcoming smile instantly spreading across her red lips.
Munin: Hello there, care to join me?
She gestured to the chair opposite of her with the lift of her hand. With a nod he takes the seat offered to him, placing his bag of God knows what between his legs.
Munin: I must say that I'm loving the pink hair. Did Eva help you with that?
Icon Corbin: While despairing. She only helped because I threatened the beard hehee...
She chuckled at that, remembering Eva dying her own hair in the past.
Munin: Will you be keeping the color when we go to Japan?
Icon Corbin: of course! It'll go with the attire!
He leans his forearms on the table with a cheeky grin that slowly fades away.
Icon Corbin: So, how are you keeping?
She grew quiet for a moment, her hands and eyes dropping to her tea cup. She knew this was coming, just as she knew Leon was one person it was nearly impossible to hide things from.
Munin: It was rough this morning, but with every step I take forward things get better.
She looked up at him then with a wane smile. In some ways she knew that Leon could understand what she was going through more than most.
Munin: Some steps are harder than others...even when you know they are the right steps to take.
He let her speak, thanking the service once his tea arrived and was placed before him. He always loved green tea. A gentle blow and his eyes are back on the troubled woman.
Icon Corbin: I know they are. But any real path worth taking is...
Munin: This is very true...
She smiled at him in agreement, and allowed a moment of silence to fall on the table. The first sips of tea should be enjoyed in silence, so it can be properly appreciated.
Munin: In fact I am finding that there are some aspects of this path that make it very worthy.
Icon Corbin: Care to elaborate?
Munin: Jericho.
The reply was short and simple, but loaded all the same. He arches a brow but her response wasn't all that so unexpected. He takes a sip from his cup, marvelling at the intricate design before setting back on the table again.
Icon Corbin: You think he's a worthy path?
Munin: I do, I think that he has a lot more worth than he realizes.
Icon Corbin: I think he does to. I also knows he thinks just as highly of you.
She couldn't repress the glowing smile that lit up her face at his words.
Icon Corbin: You so have a shit poker face by the way...
He chuckles, clearly being playful. She out right laughed at that, completely unrepentant. Usually she despised the rare occasion she was unable to hide what she was feeling, but honestly in this case she didn't care. Let the world see how happy the Dread King Jericho cross made her. He joined in, shaking his head by the end of it.
Icon Corbin: Makes such a change to see people in a position where they can be happy. It's totally ruining my cynical side, y'know...
He smirks, allowing a brief pause with his gaze firmly on her.
Icon Corbin: Do you love him?
That question actually had her choke on her tea. She placed her cup down with a small click, while managing to keep the warm liquid from going up her nose.
Munin: Gods Leon, if you are going to try to end me just use poison next time.
While her words were teasing her expression quickly turned serious, as she gave his question the answer it deserved.
Munin: I'm not sure if either of us would jump to saying that we're in love, but I know that I could love him. No, to be honest I know that I am falling in love with him.
Icon Corbin: Does he know that?
Munin: I don't know, I don't think that Jericho misses much though...We agreed that we wanted to take things slow, so we are getting to know each other as more than just friends.
Icon Corbin: I don't blame you. There's no rush if it's what you both want. But what of Alex...?
She was proud of herself for managing not to flinch at his name, it seemed like with each day she was getting better.
Munin: That's part of the reason we are taking things slow. I don't want there to be any misconceptions that what Jericho and I have is a rebound fling. As for Alex himself...I believe that one day he may be the person he was before again, but I can't be with the person he is now. So while I hope that we can be at least friends again someday...whatever we could have had is gone. I have a new path now, and I'm not willing to let it go for what could be or what might have been. I just hope that one day he can find happiness.
He actually smiled at that. Not for Alex's sake though. A circular motion with the cup in his hand again and he's watching the liquid swirl, lost in his own thoughts.
Icon Corbin: I honestly hope you mean that. Nothing good can ever come from a volatile relationship...ever... I wish I realised that before I nearly ruined what I had, y'know?
Munin cleared her throat slightly, before taking another sip of her tea.
Munin: Not to sound like a prat, but I do know. Your past experiences are actually one of the things that helped me reach some of my decisions. I'm not saying that it will always be easy, but I have learned a lot from your mistakes.
There was no judgment in her tone, just calm honesty and sincerity. He didn't take it as judgmental anyway.
Icon Corbin: I can almost find some comfort in that. Not a day goes by where I don't regret some of the things I have done.
Munin: You're an honorable man Leon.
It was a compliment, one of the highest she could give someone in her opinion and he meant no disrespect when he laughed at hearing those words. He even winces after.
Icon Corbin: That is the first time anyone ever has referred to me as that. I've done many bad things to people, enough to put Alex to shame a million times over but I would never hit someone I love. Never.
Munin: Among many things honor is the ability to hold yourself accountable for your actions, and deal with the consequences. It is holding myself accountable, maybe you didn't do that before but you do now...
Icon Corbin: I'm a husband, a father, a champion. I have had to do a lot of growing up if I want to make it all work.
She smiled at him over her tea cup.
Munin: Well that is something that many in the roster could learn from.
Icon Corbin: But they don't learn...That is always the problem.
Munin: It is easier to cling to their self-righteousness fragile morals in some cases.
She chuckled slightly as she examined her own tea for a moment.
Munin: And they say that we are the crazy ones.
Icon Corbin: It helps them sleep better at night...
Munin: Maybe that's what makes me want to wreck their waking hours.
Icon Corbin: Oh I'm with you on that. On the subject of wrecking, how are you feeling about going up against half of Clan Mayhem on your own?
Munin: Oh I am looking forward to raining all over their clown parade, and once their gone Kolic will be all on his lonesome.
Her smile is a promise of all things sinister and wicked...Munin was planing to have fun. He noted it.
Icon Corbin: I've spoken with Jerry. We have no intention of getting involved in your match. You're not a damsel in distress or any of that shite but we will be making sure no one else can get involved. Kolic won't be around anyway, he has better things to do...or not do. But the other two Clan Mayhem, who more than likely have bad intentions, will be dealt with smoothly and swiftly.
Munin: I appreciate that...
Icon Corbin: They have got to be stopped. For good. No more simply running down to the ring or kerfuffle in the ring that get people nowhere. They need to be taken out.
Munin: I agree completely, and I'm going into the ring with that in mind.
Icon Corbin: Then make sure you have no distractions on your way, know what I mean?
Munin: Yes I do, when I go into that ring nothing else will exist.
She took another sip of her tea, while holding his gaze.
Munin: As it should be.
Icon Corbin: Glad to hear it. I know Jerry has been training with you...among other things but everything is gonna be legal in this match which is as much a blessing as it is a curse. And er...listen...I have a little something for you to use on the night.
Her eyes lit up with curiosity at that.
Munin: Oh?
Icon Corbin: I don't have them here but I do back at the hotel. They were a special gift...eleven years ago from a close friend from Japan at the time. They've served me well at times.
And the first person they were used on was himself. Bearing the scar through his foot where he was impaled and stuck to the ring a good decade ago. All the same, that thought is easily overridden.
Icon Corbin: My skewers...
Munin stilled, momentarily shocked, and for once at a loss for words.
Munin: Leon...thank you.
Icon Corbin: No one else has ever used them but me but I want to make an exception.
Munin: It’s an honor to use them...I won't take it lightly.
Icon Corbin: The thought of them being used given the circumstances...Well, I'm sure you'll more than do them justice. And with Despair on your side...I actually feel sorry for Clan Mayhem...
He paused for a moment, then shakes his head.
Icon Corbin: Well, I don't but you know what I mean...
Chuckling she leaned back her chair, feeling lighter than she had felt since the day before.
Munin: Yes I do.
He beams at the woman's mood lightening in his presence before remembering he has a cup of tea quickly going cold and rushes to have a mouthful. Smile still in place Munin moved to follow suit with her own tea. At that moment a vibration comes from his pocket, urging him to pull his phone out and check his messages.
Icon Corbin: Littleuns need Daddy and Mummy needs a break, heh. Are you busy after here, Ninny?
Munin: I was thinking of hunting down Jericho later this evening, but other than that I'm free.
Icon Corbin: Until then, a little time out with the family? I know warrior princess Georgia can't wait to see you.
Munin: Oh how can I deny the warrior princess herself?
She set her now empty cup to the side, and placed a gracious tip beside it.
Munin: Shall we then?
Icon Corbin: Let's...
He too pulls his wallet out and leaves a tip before he swipes his bag from the floor and waits for Munin. She hurried behind him, slinging her purse over shoulder as she headed for the door.
