The sound of bare flesh striking leather fills the otherwise quiet room as the GZW Women's Champion Amanda Reynolds pounded away on the bag hung in front of her. Right, left, left, right, uppercut, spinning back fist, the strikes came fast and furious as she kept a steady rythmn to her attack. She took a step back and fired off a hard roundhouse to the bag before taking a moment to catch her breath and cool down.
Very impressive Ms. Reynolds. Nice to see you haven't forgotten how to find a gym what with all the distractions you've allowed to take place recently.
Amanda had grabbed a nearby towel and now had it draped across her neck as she turned around to look in the direction of the voice. Standing in front of her dressed in a navy blue Armani suit was her manager James Strong who smiled in her direction.
You've allowed yourself to be distracted from your task Ms. Reynolds. For the past two weeks I've sat back and watched as you've allowed yourself to become nothing more than eye candy for Mr. Cross. You hang around with him to help him with his struggles when you have struggles of your own my dear. Have you forgotten that in less than a week you step into a ring against two other women in a ladder match for the W.C.E.K. TV Title? Two women who don't care about your feelings for Mr. Cross or your struggles with how you feel about Mr. Davis. Those two women are after one thing and one thing only and that's climbing the ladder and pulling down that title. Now can you look me in the eyes Ms. Reynolds and tell me that that's what is on your mind?
She wiped the sweat from her face before placing the towel on her head allowing it to hang down.
What do you want me to tell you? That I haven't allowed Alex to get in my head? That I haven't allowed the crap that's going on with Stephon to affect me? You and I both know it'd be a lie. What isn't a lie though is the fact that when I climb into that ring my only focus will be on that title. Not on Alex, not on Stephon, just that TV Title.
James walked slowly around the young lady, his arms behind his back.
Why do I doubt that Ms. Reynolds? Why do I feel like you're going to allow your personal life to spill over into this match? You have a problem with Ms. Vaughn which left unchecked could do more harm than good. You have a problem in your love life which also can do more harm than good. Ms. Reynolds you have a few serious problems that need to be addressed before you climb into that ring.
What do you suggest I do then?
Before he can answer he shoves the hanging bag in her direction striking her and knocking her to the floor. It takes her a couple of minutes to regain her thoughts and pull herself back to her feet.
Thank you for proving my point. If you were focused you'd have stopped that from happening. Instead you're more worried about getting laid than winning titles. Yet you want me to tell you what to do Ms. Reynolds? I'm merely here to provide you with a voice not tell you how to handle your feelings. Only you can decide the best way to fix this problem not me. My suggestion? Fix it quickly.
Without another word he turned and walked away leaving Amanda alone once more in the gym. She shook her head before shoving the bag away from her.
My focus is where it needs to be right now. Beating Piper and America in that ring and winning the TV Title. Alex and Stephon can wait, it isn't like their going anywhere.
She paused for a moment before walking over and grabbing her phone off the nearby bench. The camera focused in on the screen to find she had opened up a series of text messages with Alex. She quickly typed out her message and hit send.
Alex, I need to focus on my match at Heatwave so maybe we should focus on our matches more than one another. Good luck I'll be backstage cheering you on. Maybe after the show is over we can go out for drinks and celebrate our victories. Until then take care and I'll see you at Heatwave.
She tossed the phone back on the bench before turning her attention back to the bag.
That's one less distration for me to deal with. Now time to put my all into America and Piper. They won't even know what hit them.
She went back to working over the bag as the scene faded.
