Icon Lord Leon Corbin, Lady Munin, and 1 more like this

It had been a few days since Heatwave had gone off the air but the after effects of the event would be long remembered. Many globalstars were still recovering from their matches, tending to wounds and scars that would take months to heel if they ever did. Sat quietly inside looking at an empty shot glass was one such globalstar. The former dual champion Alex Cross had finally been cleared from the hospital but it would be a long time before he was ever back to his old self. Scars covered his body from head to toe, some being held together only by stitches. The look on his face said enough as he sat listening to Heatwave playing in the background of the bar. He closed his eyes for a moment trying to mentally shut out the noise as those inside the bar erupted as Icon Lord Leon made his way out of the cage door to win the match.
Hell of a match kid. You've got nothing to be ashamed of.
Despite it being one of only a couple English speaking bars it was still odd to hear the man speak with a southern dialect in this country. Alex opened his eyes and glared holes in the bartender who locked eyes with the young man refusing to back down.
Just fill the glass and piss off!
Without another word he filled the shot glass and turned to walk away. Alex quickly rose from his seat and grabbed the man's hand stopping him in his tracks.
Leave the bottle so I don't have to talk to you anymore let alone see your face.
The bartender shrugged his broad shoulders and set the bottle down before turning to address the other patrons. Alex grabbed the glass and quickly downed the shot before slamming the glass down and staring off.
Figured I might find you here.
He didn't even turn to look in the direction of the voice, instead choosing to look at the empty glass in front of him.
Talk to me Alex. I tried looking for you after Heatwave was over but they said you had been taken to the hospital to be checked out. Jason and I went over there you but you were already gone. It's been two days Alex where have you been? You won't answer your phone, you won't come to the door, nothing.
The look on his face never changed as he poured himself another shot and sat the bottle down. He swissed the liquid around in the cup for a moment before taking another drink.
Damn it Alex look at me!
He grabbed the bottle once more but before he could pour another shot the bottle was ripped from his hand. With anger in his eyes the former dual champion finally turned to face the new W.C.E.K. TV Champion. The sight stopped him for a moment as he took in the scars that covered her body as well. Burn marks covered her back and neck area and only somewhat covered by the purple t-shirt she was wearing.
You've got to let someone in Alex otherwise you're going to drink yourself to death. I don't want to find you in some gutter dead because you choked on your own vomit. Is that what you want?
Sounds good right about now since you're asking. Now give me the bottle back.
She shook her head before sliding the bottle down the bar towards the bartender.
He's done of the night, cash him out.
I'll tell you when I'm done of the night Amanda. Who the hell do you think you are? What? Do you think that because you're the new W.C.E.K. TV Champion that suddenly you call the shots around here? That because you actually won your match at Heatwave you're better than me? Is that it? Fuck you Amanda.
I'm doing this Alex because I care about you and I care about what happens to you.
Guess that makes one of us.
If this is about Heatwave you've got nothing to be upset about. You just proved to everyone watching that you belong in the main event. You pushed Sean and Leon to their breaking points and that's something to be proud of.
Yeah but pissing it all away isn't is it?
For the first time Alex locked eyes with Amanda and saw the genuine compassion she felt for him. It made it hard to keep anything bottled up inside no matter how much he might have wanted to. He knew he needed to talk but their was only one person he wanted to talk to and she wasn't sitting in front of him. No she was probably tending to Jericho making sure he was okay and he was doing the same for her. Suddenly and without warning it all finally came out, everything he had been holding inside since Heatwave ended was ending up on the bar in front of him and he couldn't stop it.
I should be sitting her celebrating my victory! I should be sitting here the new World Champion and instead I'm trying to drink myself to death. Once again I had the World Title won and instead I allowed my ego to get in the way. I allowed my emotions to take over and override my common sense. I know I should have walked out of that cage when I had the chance to but I had to prove a point. I had to prove I belonged and that I was the real deal. All I proved was that I'm still a fucking rookie that lacks the killer instinct needed to be at the top of this profession.
He paused for a moment and looked away from Amanda. She wanted to speak but knew not to cut him off.
Now what do I have to show? Nothing! I lost the match that I should have won and most importantly....
His voice trailed as he shook his head.
Because you're mine I walk the line.
His voice was soft as he uttered those words. Amanda looked puzzled but still said nothing.
I lost her because of my desire to be the best. I pushed her away because of my desire to be champion. I pushed her way and Leon pushed her into the arms of another man! A man that doesn't deserve her, a man that's only using her, a man that's a pawn in an attempt to get to me!
In a rage Alex grabbed the small shot glass and hurled it across the bar into the mirror sat in front of him causing the mirror and glass to shatter upon impact. All eyes were now on the two young globalstars.
Don't worry just put it on the tab we'll get it. Sorry about that.
The patrons turned back to their drinks as Amanda turned to look once more at Alex who was trying to calm himself down.
I allowed my emotions to cost me everything that I held dearly to me. My past, my present, and my future all gone in the blink of an eye because of my fucking ego!
Your future is what you make of it Alex. If you want it to be over and done for then it is. But if you want to pick yourself up and make something of your future then only you can do that. I can't force you to stop drinking and get your head out of your ass only you can. I can only offer an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on.
He nodded his head in agreement.
I'm sorry about this. You should be out celebrating a hard fought win and not trying to talk me off the ledge. Seriously though congratulations on your win you deserve it. Next rounds on me.
Alex dug into the back left pocket of his jeans and pulled out his wallet. He dug through it and grabbed a credit card before handing it to the bartender.
Put it all on the card and keep the tab open. Anything she drinks is on me tonight.
He slipped the card back into his wallet and then into his pocket once more.
I've got a lot of thinking to do Amanda so enjoy yourself. I'll see you tomorrow sometime.
He gave her a kiss on the cheek before turning and leaving the bar and Amanda behind.
Hell of a match kid. You've got nothing to be ashamed of.
