(I apologise for this a head of time for this promo being both late and not my best work. This week has been insanely busy for me.)
The camera comes into focus on Lady Munin sitting beside a traditional Japanese table, where a formal tea has been placed for her enjoyment. The lady herself is wearing a traditional smokey grey silk kimono with threads of vibrant bright red and silver threads shimmering in the light. Her hair is held back in a modified french twist pinned in place by antique ivory and silver combs.
Her her make up was meticulous and natural. The only truly dramatized feature being her dark exotic eyes that were perfectly enhanced with grey and black.
Her back drop was a simple paper door with no adornments, and Munin needed nothing more than that. It was clear to all that petite and deceptively fragile looking woman meant business today.
Munin: Hello ladies and gentlemen, as you know we have finally reached Japan in our tour. To say it is a pleasure to be back in the country of my birth would be putting it lightly But while I am truly enjoying myself I can not properly take in this beautiful country without first taking care of some past due business. The question is where to begin.
Reaching for the nearby tea pot Munin poured herself with a practiced grace. She seemed to be weighing her words and options carefully, before finally speaking.
Munin: I believe that the best place to start would be with the only person that has actually addressed me so far...unfortunately the person in question is not even a wrestler.
She replaced the teapot to its spot gently, and reached for the small container of honey
Munin: Yet instead of my future opponents I get a walking suit...Oh well it's all business right? A roll with the punches so to say...So lets get started shall we?
After pausing to add the proper amount of honey to her tea she set the small pot to the side, and turned her attention to the camera once more with and deceptively polite smile.
Munin: Reaching up? My dear...
She trailed off and appeared to be searching her mind for the correct name. All while carefully stirring her tea.
Munin: What's his name again? Jeffrey...Jimmy...Johnny...Jamie?
After a moment of silence one of the camera man, eager to be of help to eaxotic beauty, supllies her with a name.
Camera Man: James Strong
ma'am.
Munin smiles at the cameraman gratefully and continues to speak in a tone that could only deemed polite.
Munin: That's right James! I am so sorry James, I am simply horrible at remembering the names of people that don't matter.
Her eyes widened slightly as if aghast by the words that left her painted red lips.
Munin: Wait that came out wrong. The word I was looking for was insignificant or maybe cliche...gimmick?
Her looked flipped from that of distraught to a smile that was pure venom, and her to that of poisonously sweet.
Munin: Oh dear, I think I'm just making it sound worse.
Her smile still in place Munin took sipped her tea after gently blowing on it.
Munin: Or maybe there is just no nice way to tell someone that they are nothing more than a mouthpiece in a suit. A mouthpiece with delusions of being a mastermind puppeteer of those that are naive or ignorant enough to be convinced that they actually need said mouthpiece.
She ran one of her fingers along the rim of her tea cup in an idle caress.
Munin: Oh well, moving on.
Her mocking smile held a hint of genuine amusement.
Munin: My dear James, I find your allusions to me looking to "steal" the spotlight or "reaching up" to take anything from any of your clients amusing. Delusional but amusing none the less.
The company had so much sense that, and thoughts of just how much it had changed were sobering.
Munin: You see I don't need to "steal" the spotlight from anyone I'm already in it. I non-like ANY of your clients have won the World Title, and I did it in one match after fighting my way through some of the best wrestlers this company had to offer.
Munin: In some ways the night I won the World Title was similar to my last match. Except that in my match against Clan Mayhem I faced my adversaries four to one with no rules to hold any of us back. I was outnumbered and out muscled, but not out classed obviously. I walked out of that ring a winner that night against all odds. They underestimated me and they paid for it dearly...
She paused her to give the camera a look full of condescending patience.
Munin: Do you understand what I am telling you James? I am so far above your client that if anything I am doing Miss Reynolds a favor by "reaching down" to challenge her for that title. To give her a chance to share spotlight, and give validation to her career.
Munin: I will never be devastated by Miss Reynolds supposed superiority. I will acknowledge that she is a very talented young woman with ample potential she is as of yet far out of her league in comparison to myself.
Munin: That is a fact that is clear for everyone to see. I just hope that you are not more devastated than she is on the night I make that abundantly clear to you both.
The lower card needed someone to push them and direct them. They were in Munin's mind the future of the company, and the only hope to reignite the flames in the upper card. Not just any wrestlers would make the cut however after all this company deserved only the best. So it was that truly began her promo...
Munin: Speaking of Miss Reynolds, I believe congratulations are in order. You put on quite the show at Heatwave, it was a match that anyone should be proud of win or lose.
Her condescending demeanor morphed to one of polite acknowledgement. She didn't exactly believe the younger woman deserved her respect yet, but she did deserve to have her skill acknowledged.
Munin: I know my praise may seem odd to you, but despite what the company and possibly Alex would like to think, I hold no ill will toward you.
She set her tea cup to the side after taking the last sip from it.
Munin: I am a bit disappointed with you though, and while my opinion may mean nothing to you, but I can promise you I am not alone in my disappointment. Can you blame us though? We are still hearing from your manager instead of you.
Shaking her head Munin's voice grew slightly cold and reprimanding. It was time to sort the worth from the unworthy after all.
Munin: That isn't going to cut it dear, you are now the T.V. Champion. It is time that you find your own voice, and not rely on an asshole in a suit to speak for you. If you can't do that than skill or no skill you don't deserve to hold that title.
Munin: Besides can you honestly tell me you agree with most of what comes out of that man's mouth? That it would be what you want to come out of yours?
Munin: I could be wrong, it could be that he is saying exactly what you want him to say. Maybe you think you can have your mouthpiece talk your trash and do your dirty work...while you keep your hands clean.
Munin: Then again you could just be his lovely puppet on a string...
The last word of her sentence was frosted in ice. It was the obvious that Munin was not happy with this possibility, and she made it all the clearer with her next clipped words.
Munin: I hope that's not the case Amanda, because I am expecting you to be more than just a pretty face and muscle. I demand your best when you walk into the ring with me and when you step into a promo room and match words with me. If you give me any less I will tear you to pieces. That's not a threat it's a promise...
Munin: While I'm talking about reaching down I might as well address someone who is hitting a new low. Congratulations Kolic.
Munin: You ended your once best friends career, and managed to fight off two men that I had already beat the shit out of the same night.
The smile that graces her lips when addressing kolic is nothing less than vicious. The sheer pointlessness of Kolics actions at this point may just piss her off more than his actual actions.
Munin: You're such an inspiration to us all...I gotta ask though. Did you miss the part where Mayhem genuinely thought they were meant to destroy this company? You do realize that the fact that Jericho intended for them to be defeated when the roster rallied together doesn't change that.
Munin: Do I need to break this down for you? Jericho made Mayhem with the hopes that GZW would rally together to defeat them, but they thought they were brought together to destroy GZW. Then you decided to throw your lot in with them when you betrayed us. Ironically you betrayal was a huge motivation to get rid of Mayhem. The point to going over all of this is to highlight that fact that they never betrayed you, they did indeed want to destroy this company. So why cut ties with them?
Munin: Why take that extra step to make sure Clan Mayhem, the already beaten group that shared the same goal as you, wouldn't follow?
Her tone throughout her address to Kolic was an odd blending of: condescension, fury, and disgust.
Munin: That doesn't quite add up anyway you look at it, and I am left to wonder if even you have any idea what you are doing now.
She shook her head slightly at this, because it was the truth. She ended up giving voice to thoughts she had at first meant to keep to herself.
Munin: Where does this all end Kolic? Tell me one thing that has changed since you started this Crusade? You ended your once best friends Career Mayhem is gone, largely because of me, and you have turned most of the company against you. What have you accomplished that actually makes you proud?
Munin: You haven't hurt this company in the least. Not that you really went out of your way to do so at any point. Your main plan seems to be to bore us to death with your lack of voice and activity.
Munin: No save your breath, I heard what you had to say about that before.
Munin: Why would I go out of my way to push a match or a feud? That would be helping the company.
Munin: That is quickly starting to look like an empty excuse for for being a lazy leech. You are after all still collecting a paycheck from the company you are supposedly trying to destroy. I'm sure you will continue to do so until the inevitable happens.
Munin: Your silence will eventually leave you forgotten...Have fun with that.
Munin: Now I would end this little chat on that lovely note, but I wouldn't be a professional if I failed to address my other future opponent...Alex.
She paused for a moment to reach for her teacup, and for the first during the promo she appears emotionless. Though anyone that truly knew her would know it was often a sure sign that she was feeling too much.
Munin: I doubt you have ever realized how many times I have verbally and physically pulled my punches when it comes to you.
Munin: But...I can promise you that you soon will. You see Alex while you have been blowing up the airwaves with our personal information, and lashing out at people that are close to me I have held my tongue. I have attempted to take the high road and deal with the nasty mess our past relationship turned into with maturity. Your actions at Heatwave however have shown me that the high road is no longer an option.
A smile spread her across her red lips and it was a cruel thing. While her voice was emotionless and polite her eyes promised retribution.
Munin: You harmed someone very dear to me outside of the ring, and while I have promised to stay out of the affair outside of the ring...inside the ring is a completely different matter.
Munin: Alex when we step into the ring it will not be like outside the ring, and I will hold nothing back. I know you will do the same, but unlike you I will follow the rules until you break them. If that happens Alex make no mistake I will make the match with Mayhem look like child's play. When I am done you will have no doubt in your mind that I have moved on.
She looked away from the camera and her voice when she spoke was finally heavy with indefinable emotion.
Munin: If you want to blame someone for the way things turned out then put the blame where it belongs...on you and I.
Munin: I love the man you were Alex, the man that I believe is somewhere inside you, but I am not in love with you anymore. Being in love with you was slowly smothered over the last few months, and it took me awhile to understand that. Maybe I should have noticed it sooner and had an intervention. Maybe I should have found better ways to warn you, since my way obviously wasn't working. Maybe I set events into motion for you to be influenced to become the man you are today...
Emotion disappearing from her voice once more she turns her eyes back to the camera. Whatever emotions she had been struggling with internally had been resolved.
Munin: That's a lot of maybes though. It's a lot of speculation, and speculation will lead you anywhere fast. Facts on the other hand...well facts are another matter entirely.
Munin: So let's look at the facts.
Munin: Over the last year of our relationship you have gradually transformed into a stranger. A stranger that didn't hear anything they found inconvenient or unpleasant. A stranger that missed dinners, dates, and family time in general. A man that changed less and less from who he was in the ring and who he was at home.
Munin: A man who would go over a week without calling despite the fact that another woman kissing him was aired on T.V.
Munin: You have become a man that will attack the woman he supposedly loves, instead of walking away when provoked...
Munin: I have never done anything to intentionally harm you Alex. Even the time I left it was in part because I thought it was the best thing I could do for you, and I accepted the fact that you may not forgive me. I was willing to live with that though if it was in your best interest, and at one time you would have done what was in my best interest. Once upon a time we loved each other enough to want the best for each other, and to sacrifice for each other. Once upon a time you would have walked away from GZW to be with me if I had let you. That time has passed though...
Her voice while still firm softened slightly at the edges. This was never the way things were supposed to end, but sometimes life doesn't go the way you expect. It's just something you have to live with, and deal with the best you can.
Munin: There is no room in your heart or life for me. I do not matter to you...not more than that title. There is no separation from you in the ring or you at home because your obsession with that belt has consumed you. You are a man possessed, and I can not stand beside you and watch it. I will always love the Alex that I fell in love with, but you are not him...I am not in love with you anymore. I have moved on Alex, and when we meet in the ring there will be no denying that we have come to an end.
Just as she finishes her sentence, the camera shows someone pass Munin a letter. The letter is quickly read, and crumbled, and set to the side.
Munin: Ladies and gentlemen I will see you at the show. I promise it will be a night to remember.
The cameraman took the cue and cut the feed, leaving Munin to glare at the crumbled piece of paper.
The camera comes into focus on Lady Munin sitting beside a traditional Japanese table, where a formal tea has been placed for her enjoyment.
