This above all: to thine own self be true
Kellar: Ohhhhhh! And Big Daddy is on the mat... and here comes the Monster!!!
Melissa Kellar rebounded off the bottom rope and ran back towards her father. With a scream and a giggle she performed a sloppy 4-year-old body splash on her former World Champion father.
Kellar: Oh! A devastating blow... 1....2...3!!!!
He leapt up, grabbing her and hoisting her up.
Kellar: The new... undisputed... World Champion.... The Monster!!!!
Melissa giggled as her father tickled her and spun her round in the centre of the ring, giving her the helicopter tour of the old wrestling hall. All the eyes were on the Tokyo Dome, but this place had a special magic.
He pulled Melissa down towards him and looked into her eyes
Kellar: Of course… I will be wanting a rematch, and submissions only…
He tickled her some more as she squeaked and squirmed.
The sound of slow deliberate clapping echoed through otherwise silent building. Icon Kellar looked towards the clapping, a familiar figure emerged from the shadows.
Melissa: Who that?
Even dressed in simple black jeans and a grey tunic top, the 2012 Lady of the Coliseum cut an elegant figure. Her long black hair was pulled back into a ponytail that hung down her back, and her make up was simple. Glossed lips smiled slightly, and her dark exotic eyes sparkled with amusement.
Munin: It looks like you have your hands full Kellar. I'd hate to see what happens when she doesn't want to go to bed.
Kellar smiled back
Kellar: M... this is Munin. Say hello...
Melissa turned away with a silly grin and hid her face
Kellar: Guess not...
Munin's smile was surprisingly gentle as she looked at the small child.
Munin: No worries sweety I'm not all that scary, and you can call me Nin when you're ready.
Kellar put Melissa down and she immediately ran over to her father's kit bag in the corner, pulling out her colouring book and crayons. Kellar approached the ring steps and lowered the second rope politely for his Lord of the Coliseum alumna.
Kellar: I wasn't sure you'd got my invitation... or if you could tear yourself away from Jericho for a few hours...
Munin rolled her eyes with a chuckle, before easing into the ring.
Munin: Jericho and I are rather solitary creatures by nature, so spending time apart during the day isn't a big deal. Travis on the other hand is a fan of yours...
Kellar: I'm flattered...
Kellar looked around, gesturing as he did so.
Kellar: This is where it all started 'Nin. See those rafters up there... I used to sneak in there with my schoolmates and watch the matches. No bright lights, no pyro, no cameras no nonsense... just two athletes looking to prove that they're the best.
Munin: And here you are again wrestling with your daughter. Do you think she looks at it with the same wonder that you once did?
Icon Kellar winked
Kellar: Shhh... her mother'll hear you.
He retreated to another corner, and picked up a small wooden box. He brought it over to 'Nin and opened it.
Kellar: Look...
Inside the box was a photograph of a young Kellar in school uniform, with three Japanese schoolkids next to him. Behind them was a man in a blue mask, his arms out wide with a feather-style cape hanging down off of them.
Kellar: That's the original Bluebird... in this building, about... 30 years ago give or take.
She looked down at the picture and back at him with an odd smile.
Munin: You really have carried this place with you over the years. How long has it been since you've been here?
Kellar looked down at the floor, then around at the old dusty building.
Kellar: Too long... they're tearing it down in a few weeks...
He sat down on the old, hard canvas, looking around whimsically. Munin sat down next to him.
Kellar: I always hoped I'd get to wrestle here one day but... guess that's not going to happen. It's funny... John Pariah's looking forward to wrestling in the Tokyo dome, and me...
Kellar tapped his photograph self.
Kellar: I'm here, trying to find him... the kid who decided that nothing was going to stop him from conquering our world.
Instead of looking at the photo with him Munin gave a very pointed look at Melissa.
Munin: I think I see a lot of him right there.
Icon Kellar looked across at Melissa, who had apparently decided that orange was an appropriate colour for elephants with blood red eyes.
Kellar: You think I should encourage that... be the Human Dynamite again, and risk her mother's ghost coming back to haunt me?
Munin: Do you honestly think she would want to see you so torn?
Kellar: That's the problem, I've no idea what Dyna wants... wanted...
Kellar sighed
Kellar: It was hard enough to guess what that woman was thinking when she was here...
Munin: No one can say, but I doubt that she wanted you to be miserable.
Kellar: I dunno... M's so impressionable, and whatever I feel I doubt Dyna wanted her to be exposed to this business.
Melissa wandered over to the two Globalstars as they sat, orange coloured demon eyed elephant picture in hand.
Kellar: That’s… terrifying.
Melissa didn't answer.
Kellar: M?
Without warning, Melissa spit a perfect mist of fruit juice into her father's face, then ran away laughing. Icon Kellar turned towards Munin, who struggled to contain her laughter.
Icon Kellar turned towards Munin, who struggled to contain her laughter.
Kellar: See what I mean...
She gave him a sideways look that was more than a little mischievousness.
Munin: I doubt Dyna expected her not to be exposed despite what she may have wanted, and she stayed with you anyways. Besides you spent most of your time pissing her off, why would she expect you to stop now?
Kellar smiled and wiped his face dry.
Kellar: Well... she's already spitting poison mist and demonising elephants... it's probably too late to do anything about it now anyway...
He rose
Kellar: Besides... I waited years to get Pariah in that ring, and I'll be damned if he gets any less than 100% Dynamite...
Kellar removed his wet t-shirt, flexing his back, and his signature Buzzsaw Yin-Yang tattoo, the symbol of the Macheda Dojo.
Munin: Well...
She trailed off as she pulled a slender black case from her back pocket.
Munin: I think you may need this.
Kellar caught the case as Munin threw it towards him.
Munin: If you're going to do something wrong you might as well do it right.
Kellar opened it up, and smiled as he saw the contents.
Kellar: Hello darkness my old friend...
He put his hand into the case, then lifted his hand up to his face and dragged his middle finger and thumb across his eyes and nose, blackening them. Munin smiled at him
Munin: Here we are now...
