The scene opens looking over a city landscape from a balcony. The hustle and bustle of Chicago’s residents and tourist playing out the scene downtown. Inside the room to which this balcony is attached is a much different vibe. It’s calm, happy. Joshua is lounging on his couch a book in his hands. He’s not decked out in vigilante regalia. This isn’t a man waiting to do battle. This is a guy. A guy in his Chicago loft. Wearing a #wearegood Cubs t-shirt. Blue jean clad. As the door to his residence opens he slips a bookmark in to hold his place setting the book on the coffee table. He cranes his neck to see Eve enter the room. Again not dressed the part of a deadly assassin or master manipulator. However still quite stunning in her floral patterned sun dress and black leggings.
Eve: Still warm in October. I love it.
She loops her keys onto a nearby loop as she picks up the mail to rifle through it.
Eve: Did the guys from the ranch get back to you?
Joshua smiles as she sets the mail down and begins making her way over to him.
Joshua: Yes. Vera is very happy to be home. Even if her arrival was earlier than expected.
Eve grins devilishly.
Eve: It was for your own good.
She leans in and gives him a soft peck on the lips. He uses the opportunity to pull her off her feet and on top of him kissing her deeply. She could have resisted. Her body was ready to break a number of different bones in various ways. But why would she. This man would never hurt her… which was more startling to her. The confidence in that thought. She nuzzled her head against his chest.
Eve: Plus Munin did the tricky part. She had to get into your locker and swap out the gear. I just had to get our girl home. Speaking of, how is our guest doing?
She nuzzled a little more. God she loved the way he smelled, felt. What world was she living in? If only she knew how much he savored these wonderful moments. Her head against his chest, her body against his.
Joshua: She’s loving it. Some heavy rains kept her in today. But I think it’ll be good for her to clear her head. Always did the trick for me.
Eve: Yeah, when you were hiding from me.
She kisses him on the lips the pushes herself off to stand.
Joshua: Hey! Where do you think you’re going…?
Eve: WE are going to the gym.
Joshua rolls his eyes.
Eve: You’re not gonna beat Champa by sitting on your ass reading books and watching Cubs games.
Joshua sighs heavily.
Joshua: I might not have more baseball to watch after tonight…
Eve: Stop. You never know. Now let’s get your ass in the gym. Then I’ll make you something to eat while you act like a five year old and watch the game tonight.
Joshua: You’re too good for me.
Eve: If that were true you’d be dead.
His face goes blank. She smirks.
Eve: What? You’re only alive because you’re as good as I am.
Joshua: I thought it was my charm…
Eve rolls her eyes. He stands up and kisses her. Before walking to another room to grab his gym bag.
Eve: If I ever concede that point, I’m doomed…
Eve felt good. Happy. She could see what that win against Killjoy had done for the man she loved. No more Tamer, no more silly Desperado. Joshua Dane could thrive.
