With the Thanksgiving holiday now past it was back to normal business for the wrestling world of GroundZero Wrestling 2K1.
News floating around the Command Suite is that World Tag Team Champion Rupert Martin is facing breach of contract charges if he does not make an appearance at the upcoming special broadcast event "Body Count" from Sydney, Austraila. Martin was last seen participating in the 2007 Lord of the Coliseum tournament where he took a first round exit during the late week of October. He has no showed several house shows and guest appearances arranged by GroundZero Wrestling 2K1.
Benjamin "Blizzard" Blake, the other half of the World Tag team Champions, is seemingly disgruntled with his friend/tag partner, Rupert Martin. Several wrestlers, who wished to go unnamed, have said that Blake has been very vocal about Martin's disappearance stating his actions are "unprofessional, selfish, and downright childish." Many high profile wrestlers are agreeing with Blake.
There is talk that John Champa could also be facing breach of contract charges but not from GZW2K1. An unidentified independent promotion, not affliated with Ground Zero Global, are looking to hold Champa to his contract. It is believed that Champa is the organization's top champion and wish to "cash in" on his worldwide celebrity afforded him by his employment with GZW2K1. As of press time Champa could not be reached for any further comment or verification.
The former Hong Kong Wrestling Federation World Heavyweight Champion Bane has been seen quite frequently about Trouble Trax over the holiday week looking perhaps the best he has ever been in since his GZW2K1 career. When asked whether he would be back in action soon, he answered with "damn good sleep".
Eva Hikari has been maineventing several shows on the house show tour over the past couple of weeks against Asher Moore. Executives are etremely pleased with her in-ring work but have been dismayed with her promotional work. Sources state that Hikari hasn't connected with the core GZW2K1 fans due to this lack of promotional work. Many are wondering if employing the young woman is worth the money and time invested so far.
It is believed that Ring of Honor Icons Sean Fiery and Nathan Williams were brought back in order to spice up an otherwise dormant and stale World Tag Team division. The on again/off again friends/enemies returned to active competition at Crimson's Thy Kingdom Come as the special mystery guests in the 2007 Lord of the Coliseum tournament. Neither men have made any mention of a possible tag team.
GZW2K1 has given Ring of Honor Icon Sincere a new contract offer but it remains unknown whether he will sign it or not. His current deal expires at the end of 2007 but isn't expected to work again for the company before his deal ends. The original plan was for Icon Sincere to quietly retire at the end of 2007 but now GZW2K1 is hoping he will return for at least one more year.
With the subsequent win of the Lord of the Coliseum crown, Leon Taylor also picked up the GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship. According to organizational rules the World Champion cannot hold another championship that is not ranked on a World level. So it is too be believed that Lord Taylor will be vacating the "Wild Card" Eddie Knoxville Television Championship as of press time. Many options are being weighed by the Command Suite on how to crown a new W.C.E.K. Television Champion with the leading option being a one night tournament.
