The scene opens in a hospital room. It is the hospital room of Samuel Knight. Samuel, unconscious and on a drip lies motionless in the bed. His electric wheelchair and metal cane are by the side of the bed, and a number of bunches of flowers are on his bedside table. Billy Bond walks into the room solumnly. Despite his dashing new look, Bond is looking bad: he has bags under his eyes that suggest he's had little or no sleep. He sits by Samuel's side, and puts his head into his hands. He throws his head back, tears in his eyes.
Bond:
"Oh Samuel, how could I let this happen to you? How could I let Troublesome do this to you? How could we have been so blind to Troublesome's motivations? How did it end like this? How can I make this right?"
His head back in his hands, Bond says nothing for a while, silently contemplating the horror of what happened at Acceptable Risks. When he finally looks up again, there is a look of anger in his eyes, burning anger.
Bond:
"I can't believe that anyone could do what Tate Troublesome did to you, Samuel! Nothing, NOTHING can justify it! He's dying, but even that can't justify a brutal, callous attack on a man in a wheelchair! I don't know what to do, Samuel! I want to avenge this heinous act... but can I really attack a dying man? what should I do? You're one of the bravest men I know Samuel, and I respect you more than you can know. Who else in a wheelchair would come to the aid of people fighting for what they believed in? Only you, Samuel!"
Bond takes a grip of Samuel's hand.
Bond:
"Nothing else matters to me now, Samuel! This is the worst, most disgusting disgrace I have ever seen, and I WILL do something about it! There's GOT to be a way to get Troublesome back for this, and you can believe that your friend William Bond will find it."
Bond squeeses Samuel's hand, and then gets up to leave. At the doorway, he turns back momentarily, his cheeks once more stained with tears.
Bond:
"Get well soon, champ!"
Scene fades as Bond turns and leaves.
