United Japan Wrestling SuperHeavyweight Champion Hiroyoshi Takanishi was in attendance of the kickoff for GZW2K1 Fan Apprecation Weekend that began today in San Antonio, Texas. The UJW Ace was received very well and was in high spirits during the first Meet and Greet of the morning. Since Takanishi's English is very limited, he was seconded by his American trainer and former Ambition dojo classmate, Odessa Hoyle. Through Hoyle, Tananishi told the fans and media, "I want to be the next Ground Zero Global Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion. I feel that having a great worker like Leon Taylor, that is accustomed to Strong Style, as my first United States challenger will set me on the true course and prepare my for the hard road it will take to make it as the pinnacle of our sport today. If I am able to conquer Kabuki Kid I look to challenge all the true talents of GroundZero Wrestling 2K1 before setting my target upon Zachary Sharp. Count on me and I will fight beyond your imagination."
Takanishi spent almost two and a half hours (well over his appointed one hour) at the first session of the Meet and Greet taking photos and signing autographs for all in attendance. Before leaving, Takanishi spoke in Japanese quoting the Japanses proverb, "Beginning is easy - Continuing is hard."
