KELLAR: I'M ALREADY TRAINING

It's been almost 4 months to the day since three time World Heavyweight Champion and present Lord of the Colliseum Jon H Kellar wrestled a match in a GroundZero Wrestling ring; four months of agony. However, with an end finally in sight, Kellar has his eyes on a return to the ring as soon as possible.

During the Aftermath 2k6 finale, in which Kellar wrestled two different opponents consecutively for the Undisputed World Heavyweight title, he suffered a severe back injury which has put him on the sidelines since that date. However, this side of surgery to repair nerve endings and a decent period of healing time, he feels better than ever. G0G.com caught up with the former champion for a quick word
"G0G.com: When the injury happened in the match with Zac Sharp, what was your first thought?"
Kellar: "As soon as I felt the injury come up, my first thought was that it would require disc fusion surgery, and that would effectlvely have ended my career. I know there are plenty of wrestlers out there, great wrestlers, who have had that surgery and continued with their careers, but as soon as you lose that flexibility you lose a few steps, and if I can't go 100% then I don't go at all. A lot of my style is based on speed and quick takedowns to the mat, high impact stuff, and once that spine is fused you lose that ability to push yourself to that level. I've never given less than 100% in any match I've wrestled, and I always promised myself that if for any reason I couldn't go that extra distance I would stand down and let someone else do this thing."
G0G.com: "And how much can you give now?"
Kellar: "I started on the weights in early March, building up to what I was already lifting and trying to bulk up again, but I've been doing the in-ring work for less than a month. I hit my first KellarKutter last monday, but the Kellar Klutch actually causes me more pain than it does the opponent currently! I can't give you a date just yet, but I'd say I'm about 75% to 80% on the way there."
G0G.com: "How frustrating has it been for you?"
Kellar: "A mixed bag really. On the one hand it's like having your heart ripped out when you're told you can't do what you love doing for a living, especially when in my case it's all you've known since your early twenties, but in some ways the breaks been good for me. I got pushed straight into the main event at the beginning of 2006 and I stayed on top for the entire year, spearheading the company's television shows and putting on main event after main event. I know it's a tad cliche but it really does take its toll on you and if it hadn't been this injury then it would undoubtedly have been another somewhere down the line."
G0G.com: "What was it like to be declared GZW Wrestler of the Year 2006/7?
Kellar: "A blessing and a curse. On the one hand I was thrilled that I made that much of a contribution to the industry that I love, but on the other I know that now I have a lot to live up to. At the beginning of 2005 I was an unknown and people said I wouldn't last a month. When 2006 came and I won the title people claimed I wasn't ready for it. Come 2007, you guys are just itching for me to get back in the ring... how do I top that I wonder? I guess this year will just have to be another raised bar...
G0G.com: "Any ideas how you might do that?"
Kellar: "Well I could go after the World Title again, that's always an option, and I'm also only two belts away from a grand slam... or I could try and smash the Gla..
Kellar pauses thoughtfully and takes a sip of water, a smile spread across his face

Kellar: "Now now children, if you peek at your Christmas presents it's sadly anti-climatic now isn't it? Just wait and see...
