There is to be believed severe rumblings are being felt within the locker room concerning Zachary Sharp's retaining of the GZW2K1 World Heavyweight Championship at Crimson's Sunday Bloody Sunday during the Highway to Hell match main event. Many wrestlers, refusing to have their names stated in fear of backlash, are voicing that Sharp should not have retained the title. One longtime mainstay was quoted, "...I don't like Vernon [Vanderbilt] all that much, but I sure in the hell don't like Zac. The whole outcome of that match has me turned off and questioning the true direction of this company. It makes me really miss the days of Magic and T-Rex."
With Vanderbilt seemingly out of contention for a World title that has eluded him for nearly eight years, pundits are predicting that Vanderbilt will be pushed into a feud with his life partner, Leon Taylor. The feud could most likely begin as earlier as Crimson's Prelude to Pain setting up a big match between the two at the Heatwave IV pay-per-view.
The World Heavyweight Championship will most likely now be contested for by current champion Zachary Sharp and former Ground Zero Global Triple Crown Champion Ring of Honor Icon James "Monarch" Corbin. Sharp has been very vocal over the past two months concerning his interest of wrestling his greatest rival, even as going as far as using his catchphrase during speeches. Icon Corbin, though still on the active roster, is all but retired from wrestling only working special engagements, most notably in United Japan Wrestling. No solid word yet from Icon Corbin or the GZW2K1 Command Suite concerning this.
Prior to the "Wild Card" Eddie Knoxville Television Championship between current champion Desolate Mu and Devinn Price, Mu, along with his interpreter Jessica Bell, and road agent Celestia "Mooncat" L'yark were in a heated argument concerning Mu's reluctance to utilize weapons during the match. Even though the stipulations of the match allowed the use of foreign objects during the scope of the match, Mu was furious that he was instructed to use them. What has become customary during GZW2K1's stay in Hong Kong during the Summer Heat Tour, all shows leading up to the Heatwave pay-per-view are littered with extreme stipulations, a fact that Mu had to be aware of prior to the start of the show. It is unclear whether or not Crimson's Prelude to Pain W.C.E.K. Television Championship match will be altered, pulled from the lineup, or remain intact but what is clear is that Desolate Mu has vowed not to partake of any weapon usage during any of his forthcoming matches.
Belief is that Mu will not be reprimanded in any shape, fashion, or form for his backstage blow up because he did indeed work the match as was dictated to him by his superiors. Add to the fact, Mu has had an exemplary record in front and behind the camera since his arrival to GZW2K1.
Newcomer Trystan Lloyd and former HKWF World Heavyweight Champion Bane were lauded by all for their superb work during the Scaffold match. Bane, always known for his easy to get along with backstage presence, was credited for his veteran attitude when it came time to take the tremendous bumps during the course of the match. While at the same time, Lloyd has perked the interest of quite a few GZW2K1 executives for his devil may care style of work during the match. The only negative mark held against the two was their almost non-existent pre-match presence to hype the meeting of the two.
The unscheduled match at the top of the show was indeed off script as no one was given any clue that Richard Napier and Kev Mania would be performing at Crimson's Sunday Bloody Sunday. The appearance of Bishop Lazarus, Hong Kong Wrestling Federation President John Profit's enforcer and Fox Giovianni's bodyguard, was an equally surpising moment. Lazarus' appearance gives credence to the rumor that Profit influenced last minute changes to the Crimson broadcast. Lazarus' carving of "HKWF" into the chest of Mania was unscripted which should lead to heavy fines to be sanctioned against Profit and HKWF.
Unconfirmed reports are filtering in concerning the automobile accident involving the Price brothers, Jason and Devinn. Many are stating that the accident is completely fabricated, covering up for the fact that the twins have been suspended, pending investigation, due to violating the GZW2K1 Wellness Policy. These sources are claiming that both men have been abusing the anabolic steriod, Anatest. If this is true this will be Jason's third violation of the Wellness Policy, a violation that could result in immediate termination. This would be Devinn's first infraction.
Returning veterans Jacob Helmsley and Shane Ryder, along with newcomer John Champa, have been receiving great marks on their in ring work and attitude on the dark match circuit. Helmsley, a former GZW2K1 LightHeavyweight Champion, is set for an in-ring return match on June 15th broadcast of Fierce while Ryder, a former World Tag Team and "Wild Card" Eddie Knoxville Television champion, and Champa will have their return and debut against each other at Heatwave IV pay-per-view.
