Dignitaries from United Japan Wrestling and Canadian Stampede Wrestling were on hand to witness Heatwave IV. Most notable amongst them being UJW President Tenzun Fujinami and CSW Executive Officer Andrew Excelsior. Both men were in attendance with several members of their respective rosters that included UJW Super Heavyweight Champion Hiroyoshi Nakanishi, UJW Hardcore Champion Fiasco (who defends the title in his home company of CSW), and CSW standout John Saigon. Excelsior and his entourage were one of the few persons allowed into the Hong Kong Wrestling Federation tent that were not employees. President Fujinami and his group enjoyed the pay-per-view from the luxury of the VIP tent alongside notables such as GroundZero Enterprises executives Cameron and Cassidy Corzair, GroundZero Global Chairman Cedric Southern, and GroundZero Wrestling 2K1 Vice-President Angel Profit-Williams and her husband Ring of Honor Icon Nathan "T-Rex" Williams.
Parents Against GroundZero (P.A.G.) assembled outside of the entrance of the park thirty minutes prior to the pay-per-view went on air protesting against the elevation of Vernon Vanderbilt's status within GZW2K1. P.A.G. leader,William Carson, and GZW2K1 journalist, BDR, had to be physically separated as Carson and his group were constantly clamoring into shots as Dowling-Reid hosted the Heatwave IV thirty minute Freeview Preview. Witnesses state that the cocky award winning Dowling-Reid was visible shaken after the altercation and tasked GZW2K1 security to follow him around the entire night.
To have GZW2K1 Vice-President Profit-Williams make the announcement of the opponent for the HKWF World Heavyweight Championship match was a last minute decision. Neither HKWF President John Profit or his assistant Fox Giovianni had made it to Kowloon Park. Upon finding out that his oldest daughter had made the announcement in his absence, HKWF President Profit went on a tirade.
Ring of Honor Icon James "Monarch" Corbin's surprise visit was almost blown due to Hong Kong customs detaining him longer than expected at the airport. Icon Corbin, long known to be constantly harassed by airport security, arrived to Kowloon Park midway through the pay-per-view and against orders interrupted the scheduled Jacob Helmsley/Bane matchup. This explains why the normally egocentric veteran's theme music was not played and Icon Corbin came through the crowd instead of from backstage with his normal entrance package. Disregarding medical attention, Icon Corbin signed autographs after his segment before leaving Kowloon Park.
Color commentator Joshua Samson was in a frightful mood during off camera moments after being served legal papers by veteran wrestler turned sports entertainment lawyer, Royce Belacroix. Samson at several points throughout the broadcast would break down and physically cry expressing sincere remorse for his actions.
Two people injured when pyrotechnics went awry during the Jackson Walker, better known as Cell Block, entrance before his Non-Title GZW2K1 United States Heavyweight Championship Parking Lot match against William "The Mongrel" Saint received a surprise but discreet emergency room visit from the United States Champion and the ex-Extreme Heavyweight Champion. Reports say that the pyrotechnics meant for the stage accidently spilled into the front row. Hospital spokeswoman Hiu Xian wouldn't release the injuried's names but said the injurues were minor. Both are expected to make full recoveries. Soon after Heatwave IV, Cell Block and The Mongrel arrived at the hospital, said head nurse Sashoi Torugchi: "They was just very concerned about the people injured in the audience."
After the pay-per-view feed went off the air a squirmish in teh backstage area between HKWF's Red Rum and Omega Red and GZW2K1's Victor and Emilio Champion escalated into a full out brawl between the two company's rosters. GZW2K1 security had to call in reinforcement help from the Hong Kong magistrate in order to contain the riot which quickly drew in the very pro-HKWF crowd in attedance. Several dozen fans were injuried while four fans were known to have suffered a broken arm, cracked ribs, fractured skull, and a possible broken neck respectively. The entire fracas endured for almost forty-five minutes before police were successful in dispersing the mob scene of wrestlers and fans. No official word has come from GZW2K1, HKWF, or the Hong Kong constable.
