LARS JOHNSON'S
THAT ONE LINGERING QUESTION:
Given his general attitude, is ANY GZG federation all that eager to sign Maggot (Shirakawa Souji)?
Follow up: What about the "person of respect" clause he's insisting on?
The first person I got a hold of was CSW's Andrew Excelsior. Andrew was reserved, but overall had a positive take on Maggot. "The kid has talent. I hope he's not serious on the whole 'beat me with my hero' bit; that sounds like a good way to waste his development turn. He'd be welcome here, if he's up to paying his dues."
In Japan, UJW training director Emiya Ayako was characteristically blunt. "'86 the attitude, kid," Ms. Emiya said. "Realize, this isn't a matter of either of us doing the other a favour. It's a business contract." When asked to comment on Shirakawa's talent, Emiya was equally blunt. "Lots of raw talent there, but it is raw. He's on a development contract to develop."
HKWF's Michael Irons actually laughed at the suggestion of hiring Maggot. "He had his chance here. If he gets an HKWF match, it will be to teach him the respect he is so sorely lacking for anyone but his mysterious hero."
Perhaps the most interesting reaction came from GZW's Alexander Hunt. "I think it's quite simple-- Maggot has his choice of tryouts. He's that good; he has that much raw talent. But his first choice went badly, so I think it's obvious he's trying to avoid making the wrong choice-- or rather, he's made his choice, but wants us to make it official." When asked if he knew what hero Maggot wanted to face, Icon Hunt seemed to struggle with his composure. "Oh, I... I have some idea," he admitted. Sobering quickly, he added, "And what Shirakawa-kun has to consider is, his dream match might have preconditions that he did not anticipate coming from the other side."
