A wily veteran and long term loathed heel, ‘El Gambit’ Santiago DeTouwce is the guy that keeps on trying. Never content with his achievements in wrestling, he keeps vying for a shot at the big time. He is respected by real fans and the locker room for his longevity and true luce libre ability, but generally loathed by all for his terrible attitude and generally sour and hateful demeanor.
El Gambit’s career began in Gibraltar and Spain at the age of 15: he was a street fighter with his friend Jose. Both Santiago and Jose were spotted as brawlers with potential by a talent scout and brought into the wrestling scene. By the time they were 20, they were regional tag champions in Spain. However, Jose left the business when he met his to be wife.
El Gambit was a famous independent wrestler across Europe for many years and was a relatively regular Indie star in Japan and Mexico. He had particularly long stints in BCWF and other British organizations. However, it was his move to HKWF in the late early 90s where he became the most famous. With infamous feuds with Mooncat, Gideon, and Teardrop, and an uneasy alliance with Union Jack, this was the start of El Gambit’s international fame.
Moving to the big time in GZW, El Gambit feuded with pretty much the entire light-heavyweight roster at some point, but particularly memorable were his feud with Justin Sharp and Maxx Pain. Winning both the TV title and Cruiserweight title twice during his tenure (at one point holding them both at the same time), El Gambit enjoyed success in the solo division of GZW. However, short-lived membership of Pride, Chaos Theory and New Xperience saw his legacy weakened as he was consumed by the other members of the stables and betrayed every time.
Disillusioned, El Gambit retired and became a commentator for CCW for roughly 6 months, but despite critical acclaim, he didn’t really enjoy it, and resigned. After a brief hiatus, El Gambit reappeared in nWo and was enjoying a renaissance before tragedy hit, and he broke his leg in a motorcycle accident.
A career threatening injury and hitting mid-forties would have finished any other man, and indeed it was thought it had finished El Gambit as he was not seen or heard of in wrestling circles for over a year. However, El Gambit has suddenly reappeared in GZW, and is as ruthless as ever! He has aligned himself into the Los Desperados stable of himself, Eddie Fever and 'Mooncat' Celestia L'Yark.
One thing you can be sure of is that El Gambit is vicious and hungry once more! The Mean Streak is back in GZW for one final bite of the cherry, and woe betide anyone who gets in his way!

El Gambit isn't a pretty guy. He was never pretty anyway, but the toll of a lifetime of fighting means his body, particularly his face, is covered in scars. He has a particularly brutal one on his left cheek from a streetfighting incident involving a knife. The well informed can tell the mayority of the scars on his body are, however, from barbed wire lacerations. His once jet black hair is now greying: he has it just longer than shoulder length and usually tied back into a ponytail. The one blessing he has is that he isn't actually going bald, despite being mid-forties. He also has a handlebar moustache which simply adds to the ugliness (and he doesn't care). On his left bicep is a large tattoo of the four elements.
El Gambit’s general look is a biker. His prized possession is his Harley Davidson Motorcycle (more information below). El G wears tight blue jeans with a metal codpiece, and brown knee high boots. He wears a black vest and either a long black leather trenchcoat or a short brown leather jacket (depending on the weather). El G removes his coat once he’s entered the ring, and wrestles in his casual biker gear.
If in a more formal situation, the jeans get darker and the vest becomes a frilly shirt of a gaudy colour. He thinks it’s ironic; most people think he just looks really bad…

'Star By Star' by The Kovenant comes over the sound system and a resounding boo drowns the arena! There is the roar of a Harley as ‘El Gambit’ Santiago DeTouwce rides onto the top of the zerotron in on his motorbike. Loving every minute of their hatred, El G raises his hand like that of a babyface wallowing in the adoration of the crowd: the boos grow even more.
El G swings his leg over the top of the bike, and then starts to walk down the aisle. He relishes the opportunity to jeer at fans and taunt them as he walks loving every minute. El G moonwalks along the ring apron, ascends the turnbuckle and performs a moonsault, landing on his feet.
Once in the ring, El G removes his trenchcoat and hands it to the referee. He then starts shadow boxing as he waits for his opponent.

Strengths:
i) El Gambit's belief that there is no such thing as a tainted win means that he will do anything he can get away with to win. This means that, particularly over the more pious opponent, he has a distinct advantage.
ii) The Mean Streak has over 30 years experience of fighting and over 25 years experience in the wrestling ring: this means he's pretty damned wily and aware in a fight... as long as he keeps his cool.
iii) Years ago, his unorthodox (for the time) luce libre style managed to fox unprepared opponents. As it is now, he real inring honed skill provides a similar advantage.
iv) The guy is 46, small, whiney and ugly as sin: this sometimes means the foolhardy will underestimate him, and he'll happily take full advantage.
Weaknesses:
i) El Gambit has a terrible temper which means he can easily be wound up and frustrated in the ring. This can lead to silly mistakes and leaving himself open.
ii) Having cheated his entire career, Santiago knows how to not get caught... But even he can get overzealous, and it's not like he's hasn't been caught when he's taken a risk with his rulebreaking!
iii) Mainly due to booking committees over personal preference, El G has been mostly booked against cruiserweight opponents throughout his entire career. Some critics argue that this makes him an easy opponent for a larger foe. El G claims the bigger the debilucho, the harder they fall - they're still a debilucho!
iv) It is only a rumour, one which DeTouwce heavily disputes, but it is said that after his motorbike accident, his left leg will never be fully healed. Obviously, a gammy leg is something for a shrewd (albiet cruel) opponent could capitalise on.
