Wrestler Info
Name: Shang Po
Nickname(s): None
Height: 5'10" Weight: 179 lbs.
Hometown: Beijing, China
D.O.B.: 31 July, 1977
Face/Heel status: Face
Appearance: Shang Po is Chinese. He's a bit on the larger size for somebody of Chinese stock, but he's extremely athletic and pound for pound, probably one of the strongest men around. He is neither super attractive or ugly, but he does stand out in a crowd, though it is uncertain it's just because of how he carries himself or if it's something to do with his waistlength hair - which he keeps in a braid at nearly all times.
Shang Po's Wrestling gear can be summed up as flashy. He wears a typical set of jet black tights, complete with the straps over his shoulders that join in the middle and go down his back. He has plain black elbow and knee pads as well. However, here enters the flash. He wears a candy apple red wrestling boot on his left foot and a jet black boot on his right foot. His straps are bright red as well, and in the middle of his belly is the face of a Chinese Dragon, again in bright red. Around his waist are horizontal gold stripes that stop on his sides and change to bright red. Down the side of his left leg is a colorful red and green flashburst with a black Chinese dragon's head in the middle. Halfway down his right leg, the tights change over to red, dissappearing down into his boot. Horizontal down the red part of his tights, the word "Magic" appears as though it was ripped out of the fabric.
Personality: Po is a Super-face. He plays to the crowd. He likes his fans. He doesn't cheat, but fights fire with fire. If his opponant is cheating, he'll fight dirty right back. Po is not at home with hardcore matches, but is quite innovative with martial arts weapons. All round, he's a good guy.
Wrestling Style: Picture Jeff Hardy meets RVD meets Tajiri, add in the flair of NWATNA's X Division by the likes of Sonjay Dutt, Christopher Daniels, and AJ Styles, and then you've got some idea how he fights in the ring. Shang Po isn't very large, and so he uses the ropes and a running start to his utmost advantage. Typical tactics are to run, bounce off the ropes, duck an attack, and then come back with a Springboard, and try for whatever move he was going to do. Once that part of his fighting style is understood, give Po a very distinct Martial Arts flair, and that sums him up rather well.
Finisher: The Sorcery Lock - The Sorcery Lock is a glorified Triangle Choke. Po starts off facing his opponant, and then steps up (using their knee as a base), and grabs their arm. From there he swings around as though to do a headscissor takedown, but instead of letting go once they hit the mat, Po keeps ahold of his opponants arm, turning the move into a Cross Armbreaker. Before the move can be fully applied though, Po twists over, locking in a Triangle Choke.
Alternate Finisher: The Sorcery Kick - The Sorcery Kick starts out almost identical to the Sorcery Lock, except that Po takes an additional step up onto the opponants shoulder. From there he twists, using a Spinning Heel Kick in mid air to strike his opponant from behind, across the temple. While he prefers the Step Up method for this attack, Po is capable of using it from any elevated position, so long as he can strike his opponant from behind. Typically, this happens when Po uses a Flying Splash in the corner, and then hops up on the top rope while his opponant staggers towards the middle of the ring.
Set-Up Moves: Flying Splash into the corner
Other moves:
Superkick
Spinning Heel Kick
Roundhouse Kick
Thrust Kick
Flying Knee
Knifehand Chop
Back Elbow Smash
Kneedrop
DDT
Tornado DDT
Tornado Bulldog
Snapmare
Arm Drag
Hurracanrana
Headscissor Takedown
Armbar
Cross Armbreaker
Fujiwara Armbar
Dragon Sleeper
Heel tactics: Shan Po rarely cheats or uses weapons, as it is very unbecoming of a foreign superstar. However, when the time comes to use a weapon, he prefers to use a pair of numchucks. When in a deserpate situation, Shang Po occasionally relies on what he calls "Black Magic". Black Magic is nothing more then black (sometimes blue, red, or violet) mist spit into the face of his opponant(s).
Entrance Music: The Name of the Game by The Crystal Method
Entrance: When Po leaves the curtains behind him, he'll stop on the ramp, and strike up one of a variety of martial arts poses, and then hit the ring at full speed. Once inside the ring, Po is likely to rush into one of the corners, running up it, posing again, do a backflip into the middle of the ring and strike another martial arts pose. Occasionally he may jump onto the top rope and springboard back into the middle of the ring instead of running up the corner.
