I just was about to report that as well, Ishy. I am overjoyed that Angle is once again going to be wrestling, though I actually entertained the thought of him doing some MMA work. This is a great boon for TNA as not only does the company get to "pimp" a WWE superstar that still has major drawing power but it gives workers within the business an alternative to the WWE machine now that Angle has shown TNA can be a worthwhile company (although it already is).
It's a shame that Angle doesn't take the actually time off he needs to rehab his body as well as his mind. Even with the lighter workload he will now be getting Angle will still most likely go "balls to the walls" ultimately injurying himself possibly beyond repair.

He always did live up to the intensity of his three "i's"...I hope he doesn't charge in without trying to recuperate at least just a little.

WTF?! Was that the "big" TNA surprise? Wow. I'm kinda pissed about that, actually. Angle should heal himself and his family. It officially kills everything he said after leaving WWE.
I'm kinda disappointed that he ditched WWE for TNA. TNA isn't that great, either...

yea it was all a work, he used the MMA thing as a smokescreen. But I am upset that he ditched the WWE for TNA. But he should improve their product. But then again, something just doesn't seem right about this

He didn't 'ditch' wwe. They let him go (and with good reason).
Remember, kurt angle is a wrestler. If history teaches us anything, it's that wrestlers don't know when to stop.
Kurt saw a big payday. He saw the opportunity to wrestle (which he must love) and on a severely reduced schedule to wwe.
Why would he care is the product is 'as good' as wwe (When in the ring, it's still better)? He's in it for the money and the wrestling - but mainly the money.
Where else would he go? TNA is the next biggest payoff next to wwe. WWE has released him, and as i said, comparing the travel and sheer mental and physical toll of wrestling for wwe with TNA and angle is still, in a sense, making a good choice.
They don't go on the road for 300 days a year. They don't wrestle every day of the week. Angle can pick and choose his matches because of his name value and could even get away with only really working on ppvs. Even then, if they're smart and book him in tag matches and triple threats, he still doesnt have to work too hard.

-With the announcement of Angle joining TNA, the promotion is going with the new marketing phrase "We Are Wrestling" to play off of Angle's legit wrestling background.
-Spike TV is looking to give TNA more LIVE specials, very similar to the old NWA/WCW Clash of the Champions shows. Also, Spike is looking to run "personality pieces" on TNA stars, ala the UFC hype shows before PPV's.
-Sean Waltman was backstage at the No Surrender PPV last night.
-Vince Russo was out in the open before the show, talking with fans.
-Lost in the hype of the Angle announcement last night was the fact that Samoa Joe walked off with the NWA Title after defeating Jarrett in their non-title match. That angle will progress at tonight's tapings.
-Here's a Scott Steiner update. TNA is working out a deal with Steiner. Steiner came into the company on a low pay scale and was given a chance to prove himself. Steiner has had a very strong run with TNA, and now the promotion is working out a new deal, which could see Steiner back as early as the big Bound for Glory PPV.

I like how TNA is dropping the "new face of professional wrestling"...while I was fine with that...the "We Are Wrestling" phrase is better and will get across that TNA is a wrestling company that can compete with WWE...
TNA needs those LIVE specials and it will show that TNA can handle 2 hours...especially now with such a strong roster...
Sean Waltman is everywhere nowadays isn't he...?
"Insert Vince Russo Joke Here"...
Looks like we could see a Jarrett vs. Sting vs. Samoa Joe match at BFG, if thats where the angle is going...
Good to see that Steiner is being kept...as long as they protect his weaknesses like they were before he should have an impressive run in TNA...

Thought the wwe let him go because he asked to be released to work on his family issues and to recover from nagging injuries.. My feeling is that, with TNA being more of a spotfest fed than the WWE, that Kurt may reinjure that neck thus putting him out for good.

Complete TNA Impact Taping Results (SPOILERS) Posted by Larry Csonka on 09.25.2006
All the action from the tapings!
Credit: Richard Trionfo and PWInsider.com
Impact 9/28
-Lance Hoyt defeated Jeff Jarrett, DQ. Jarrett attacked Hoyt from behind and was whipping him on the way to the ring. They fought in the crowd. Jarrett hung Hoyt from the ring by the strap and the referee called for the bell. Jarrett then attacked the referee and grabbed the mic. He pointed out the fans that took part in the Fans' Revenge match and told them he held them all responsible for what happened. He said that he wanted his NWA title back or Samoa Joe would be left laying in a pool of his own blood.
-Samoa Joe (with the NWA title) defeated Raven, choking him after Brother Runt interfered, hitting a neckbreaker with a chain while the referee was checking on Joe. Joe then grabbed Raven and choked him out. Brother Runt got into Joe's face and slapped him. Joe and Runt began brawling. Raven got involved. Abyss hits the ring and attacks Joe. Raven went after Abyss, but Runt attacked him. Jim Cornette came out and followed Joe up the ramp. Joe walked off with the NWA title belt.
-Team 3D returned, defeating Vaughn Doring & another wrestler. They didn't announce who 3D's opponents were. After the match, Brother Ray took the mic and said they left to refocus on getting the NWA Tag Team championships. He said that TNA management asked them when they wanted their title match, but 3D wants to earn their title match. He said they are going to do it the old way, fighting their way to the top.
-Chris Sabin & Sonjay Dutt & Jay Lethal defeated TNA X-Division champion Senshi & The Paparazzi. The crowd was chanting, "No more Jackass" as the babyfaces came to the ring. Christian Cage was at the announcing table. During the match, Rhino came out but was held back by security. Rhino finally broke through and attacked Cage. There were more Jackass shenanigans. Sabin pinned Devine. The crowd chanted "No More Jackass" again after the match.
-Jim Cornette came out for some official announcements inside the ring. They had a podium set up with several chairs in the ring. Cornette said they had two legends in the building, Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell. No really, he said legends. Cornette said that they had been with Sting for his training for the Bound for Glory PPV match against Jeff Jarrett. He discussed the match and promised that would be the night Jarrett loses the belt. Cornette brought up the latest addition to the TNA roster, Kurt Angle. He said that at the BFG PPV, Angle would be a ringside enforcer during the NWA title match. Jeff Jarrett came to the ring and said that he wanted his championship belt back. Cornette relayed to Jarrett that Samoa Joe said if Jeff wants his belt back, he'll have to come get it from Joe. Jarrett asked if Cornette was really the boss or just another incompetent figurehead in TNA. Jarrett brawled with Luger and Bagwell. Samoa Joe hit the ring. Joe and Jarrett brawled but in the end Joe held onto the NWA title belt.
Impact 10/5
-Team 3D defeated Frankie Kazarian and Matt Bentley. Shane Douglas and the Naturals were at the announcing table. During the match, America's Most Wanted and Gail Kim came out watching from one entranceway while The James Gang watched from another. Brother Ray grabbed the mic after the match and said they were working their way up the ladder. He pointed out that they didn't have opponents for Bound for Glory, so they issued an open challenge and promised they would become the NWA Tag Team champions. As 3D left, Ray got into Douglas' face at the announcing table and they have words.
-Abyss and Jim Mitchell came to the ring for a promo. Mitchell told Samoa Joe that Jim Cornette made a deal with the devil to get the NWA title belt back. He warns Joe that he can come to the ring and deliver the belt or Abyss will come and get it. Joe comes to the ring with the belt, lays the belt down in the ring, then slaps Abyss. They brawl. Abyss chokeslams Joe on the belt. Jarrett comes out to retrieve the belt, but gets into a faceoff with Abyss. Abyss and Joe both punch Jarrett. In the end, Joe hits Jarrett and takes the belt back. Joe powerslams Abyss and leaves.
-LAX defeated Jeff Watson and Tyler Black with a double pin on both. After the match, Konnan says they are going to get the NWA Tag Team titles. He says they were sabotaged by being put in the Ultimate X match and announced it would be a Six Sides of Steel rematch at Bound for Glory.
-In a Loser Gets Fired from TNA match, Shark Boy pinned Eric Young. Larry Zbyszko came out and Young took his toupee. Zbyszko punched Young and Shark Boy rolled him up the pin. Young and the crowd were disappointed. The crowd chanted "Bring back Eric" as he left.
-Christian Cage & Jeff Jarrett defeated Ron Killings & Christopher Daniels. LAX attacked Daniels. While Cage was on the top, preparing for a frog splash, Jarrett pinned Daniels. Jarrett took the mic and said the game is over and he wants Joe to give him his belt back. Joe came out and they brawled. Joe was knocked out of the ring. Jarrett grabbed the belt and held it over his head. Christian grabbed Jarrett and hit the Unprettier. Cage held up the belt. Rhino hit the ring and gored Cage. Joe grabbed the belt and left. Cage and Rhino fought to the back.
Xplosion:
-A-1 pinned Lance Hoyt.
-Sonjay Dutt pinned Petey Williams.
-Notes: Jeremy Borash announced that Kurt Angle would make his official TNA debut by appearing at the next taping...There was a Bound for Glory "press conference" filmed before they opened the doors for the fans....Dory Funk Jr. was in attendance...Vince Russo watched the taping from the crowd.
~~
This is derived from Wade Keller's newest audio update.
Kurt Angle told Dixie Carter that he had such a hard time in WWE to do stress. His stress level in TNA will be cut back by at least 90%. Angle knows he is going to get a huge push, no one will play politics with him, and he will have no restrictions on the ring.
Kurt will be coming in as a face.
No word yet on how long Angle's TNA deal is for but it is at least a 1 year deal.
The plan is for Kurt to work the monthly PPVs and about 1 TV match a month. This would cut his yearly amount of matches down from about 150 to around 24. This is a huge step forward for Kurt and most everyone feels like his body will be ok under this schedule.
The talk now is that Kurt will debut at Bound for Glory but will not wrestle until the 2 hour primtime switch on 11/16.
The only people who knew the announcement were JJ, Dixie, David Sahadi, Bob Carter, Sting, and the Vice President of Spike TV. Mike Tenay was never told who it was. He found out when we did and was rather upset by that until he saw who it was so his reaction on the PPV was 100% genuin.
The Angle footage was shot Thursday in TN at a warehouse. More footage then what was shown at NS was also shot to air on iMPACT! in the coming weeks. Sting was at the filming and met Angle for the first time.
The plan as of now is for Sting to drop the NWA title to Joe on his way out of TNA and then Joe will go on to feud with Angle.
Sting is scheduled to get a new look soon.
Vince Russo was at NS taking notes and meeting the roster but he did not book any of last nights show at all. He 100% did not write the laxative and blow up doll story lines. Sabin and Dutt came up with those ideas on their own. Russo takes over tonight with the TV tapings but we won't see a major change in the product until after Bound for Glory.
The Ultimate X match was scheduled to go on last until this big announcement was announced and then they decided to use Joe/JJ as a buffer between them to calm the crowd down.
If you noticed Joe stole the NWA title last night after he beat JJ. There is talk that he may be added to the BFG main event making it a 3 way but even if so the plan is to still have Sting win the title and then drop it to Joe one on one in the next 2-3 months.
The plan now is for AMW to have a friendly rivalry type match at Bound for Glory.
The 4 people that Angle is most excited to wrestle in TNA are 1. Samoa Joe, 2. AJ Styles, 3. Sting, and 4. Christian Cage.
Jeff Jarrett should be turning face within the next 6 months or so.
Morale in the TNA lockeroom is better then ever after last night. It was almost a party atmosphere backstage last night. The wrestlers were marking out as much as the fans. Alot of the wrestlers have said they could care less if they go down a notch on the ladder because they now work for a company that has Kurt frickin Angle.

While that is big news for TNA, that just makes Kurt a hypocrite and I lose a lot of respect for him. Not that my opinion matters, though.
I guess WWE is going to respond to that by redebuting Henry Godwin soon.
If you ask me though, I think that is what TNA is doing wrong, is they are trying to compete with WWE, instead of just being a second company. If they just had their shows and quit trying to be so much better than WWE and eventually overtake them, they'd have a much stronger chance of lasting quite a while longer.

I personally think the competition will be good for wrestling in general as both companies try to up their own product in order to get better ratings. Just because WWE beat WCW in the end that doesn't mean to say that the same thing will happen here, bessides the best days of WWE/WWF was when they had to compete with WCW... well that's my opinion anyway so from that perspective I believe for the fans in particular it will be a very positive thing.

I think that the whole "competition brought out the best in both companies" thing isn't exactly true. The wrestling business became hot, yes, but I do believe that the best as far as atttendances and whatnot was during the mid to late 80's. Sure the product was not as good as it is now with a more well rounded roster, but the storylines were better, not to mention when's the last time WWE sold out HUGE venues like the Wrestlemanias did back then? I don't think TNA will be able to compete with WWE, because they do have a far wider variety of stars they could make, whereas TNA's only real big homegrown star is AJ Styles, who during the past 6 months is just in the shuffle somewhere. TNA is doing what WWE did, bringing in already huge names. It's smart in the short term, but it didn't work for WCW and it probably won't work with TNA either.
